I find the security staff intimidating and rude I think one guy there has mummy issues and should really have counselling and not be taking his anger out on customers who do no wrong. The self service section is a joke as half of them have not been switched on and the one l used made me feel as if l just won the jackpot on a fruit machine in a pub, how can a shop justify paying a customer 62p change in 2p pieces. Ice cream that has been defrosted is being re frozen and sold again when l reported the issue to the duty manager he did nothing. Tesco sort yourselves out!

There's a free cash machine just outside. Inside there are sections for sandwiches and lunch items, fresh fruit and veg, some fresh meat, fish and dairy items in chiller cabinets, a small frozen section, mostly dedicated to pizza. Dried canned and tinned goods, magazines, beer and wine and a small toiletries section. They have a couple of regular checkouts, normally with just one of them being operated at they have a couple of self service checkouts. The staff are pretty good - they're efficient and friendly and tend to anticipate when the self service checkouts will need attention.

Sainsbury's on Buchanan is one of the largest Sainsbury's Local stores, I've come across, located…read moreby the Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow city centre, it's a great central supermarket for most of what you need. I was impressed by the selection in the store, with a good selection of cooked meats and dairy products including milk and cheese, tending to go beyond the usual Sainsbury's Local offering. The store is open daily until 10 pm, which is an hour earlier than most Sainsbury's Local stores in England from Monday to Saturday, as of course England is restricted by Sunday Trading laws. I wasn't a fan of the checkout area, it seemed too big and a little confusing, but the Sainsbury's Smartshop app is handy to skip the checkout as you simply scan items as you walk around the store, pay on your phone and head out. The staff weren't overly friendly or helpful, but still, it's probably the best place for groceries in Glasgow city centre in a prime central location within the city.

For a city supermarket this has everything you need for that pop-in shop on your way home from work. There's a kiosk section with the usual magazines and tobacco products, as well as fridges full of lunch-time snacks. There's a decent bakery section, good fruit and veg, lots of easy-make dinner options and a good selection of booze for when you've had a particularly long day. Granted, Sainsbury's isn't the best value of the supermarket giants, but the bakery has discounts at the end of the day and it has a lot of its own-brand cereals, frozen foods and soups etc which are significantly cheaper than the big brand names. I usually pop in during the after work rush hour, but the long queues quickly disappear and you never have to wait very long for the self-service check-outs.

I popped in here to grab some last minute snacks for an event at the nearby Craft Pottery. This is a small Sainsbo's with a small-ish range. They did have everything I needed though - which was crisps and paper towel. The guy on the checkout was exceptionally helpful so big shoutout to him (Daniel, I think his name was) and packed the crisps into bags with flair like I've never seen at Waitrose. He's the reason this is a 4 not a 3-star review. Prices are reasonable, they have a good range of home brand crisps and a few of the varieties are even vegan (who knew bacon crispies would be made from beetroot?!). I'd go here over the nearby Tesco, for sure.

A decent Sainsbury's Local on Sauchiehall Street…read more 'Local' roughly translates as a shop that is really small, based on the size of this one and that's the main annoyance here is that it can be a bit cramped. They do a decent bakery and it's good for picking up bits and bobs if you're going to the GTF for e.g. but if there's a Co-Op and Tesco just up the road a bit and a proper big Sainbury's down the road in the opposite direction which stops me from actively seeking this place out.

I've seen at weekends like melon or even fresh asparagus for 20p. Sainsbury's are heading to the route of having little staff and more of those awkward self service counters. Overall the store has less variety & selection than a regular store but serves your basic need's.

I want to make stew and forgot to pick one up yesterday. Because I always go here after work and it closes early (i think it's opening hours reflect the surrounding office buildings), things start getting reduced at about 5 and I finish at 5 so always grab a bargain. I picked up half a swede, a small bag of new potatoes and a cauliflower all for the princely sum of 90p! They didn't have any vegan butter which I also planned to pick up but I will survive without it...for now. This place recently got self scanners which amuse me because as usual there was a man telling everyone to come use them but only 1 person on the actual checkout and a huge queue. Self scanners annoy me.

There's a free cash machine indoors, just as you enter the store. In terms of groceries available here, all the basics are included as well as a small baked goods section and a small range of fresh flowers. Don't expect any specialist ingredients but it's fine for picking up the essentials. There's a part of the fridges sectioned off with goods reduced for a quick sale, and a similar shelf near the back of the store for goods that don't need to be chilled. Both of these are worth a quick look as often there's nothing wrong with the products; they just don't have the most up to date packaging. Obviously the chilled reduced items should probably be used on the day of purchase but if you're looking for a quick dinner for the same day then you can save money here. The staff are friendly and will cheerfully chat to you as you shop or as you pay for your items.

Prices are reasonable, selection is decent given it's size and for some reason, despite being quite small, it doesnt feel so (perhaps I was feeling extra midgety that day). **300th review (and 100th this year!)**…read more Okay, okay, I finally 'get' the whole Waitrose thing. This isn't the nearest store to me, but browsing the shelves I was overwhelmed with the variety of products on offer and soon was having to resist the urge to go into a complete shopping frenzy. I realised that it felt like I was in an American supermarket. So much choice! So many new things to try! Must... resist.... As it was past lunchtime, we started off in the cafe and ordered a fish pie and a falafel wrap, with a couple of coffees and tarte au citrons (or lemon tart as they called it, clearly not trusting the erudition of the Milngavie residents). The coffee wasn't bad at all for a supermarket cafe, the experience only marred by the half-hour wait for the food to arrive, by which time it had gone cold and I was in need of a second one. Yes, it was rather busy, and they did apologise for the delay, but it would have been nice if they had warned us that it was going to take so long, whereupon I would have saved my coffee order until afterwards. However, the wrap was very tasty and came with a generous dollop of tzatziki on the side. The fish pie (Herself assures me) was also tasty, although the green salad came without any dressing, necessitating a raid on my tzatziki. Had we not had the delay in the cafe I would have given the place 5 stars. As it was, we came away with more purchases that we'd intended and considerably poorer than we'd planned; but then that's the main aim of a supermarket so they certainly succeeded there!

There is ample parking also and a good number of parent and child parking spaces. The store is bright yet warm and welcoming with lovely friendly staff, who are happy to help. There is also a Community room which hosts parent and toddler groups, exercise classes and can be used as meeting venue... All in all this Waitrose is a very welcome addition to the East Dunbartonshire area. Top marks from me for the lovely cafe!

Morrisons is more in my budget range for the weekly shop, but there's always something in Waitrose to tempt you into spending more than you intended when you came in. Of course, all supermarkets want to do just that, but Waitrose seem to manage it more easily than most. This branch isn't huge, but it's somewhere larger than a 'metro' size and has more in it than you would think. They've even opened up a wee coffee bar at the front now, which seems to attract a few thirsty shoppers. The upstairs car park gives them a big advantage over Tesco and M&S farther down the road for bulk shoppers with deep pockets, but for me it's always a hand basket '5 items or less' style of visit.

Not only did it provide reassurance to it's residents that they were just as middle class as those from the nice parts of Edinburgh, but it allowed the West Enders to finally ditch their transparent bohemian pretence and concentrate on what's really important in life, like eating pheasant. When people talk about Waitrose it's position as a status symbol never seems far off their lips, but the quality is there too. If you're after something a bit special for dinner they sell countless brands you won't find elsewhere, and things like veal and venison that are often unavailable in other supermarkets. Well laid out, well stocked, and with a token nod to the fairtrade ethos if you feel guilty about spending a tenner on a loaf of bread. I'm glad they've arrived.
