Helen at Urban Barn does. She's mastered an expert line of questioning that can lead you from couch confusion to confidence. Arm height, length, tufted or non-tufted, leather or textile, pet/child friendly, budget conscious, straight-backed or tilted, and level of cushioning support...you'll need to consider these aspects (and a few more) before narrowing down your choices. Fortunately, the education process requires a lot of sitting down, relaxing, and putting your feet up, which is really the ideal way to make an important life decision. But that's not what I'm writing to you about -- I'm writing because shopping at your store was a great experience! ...from the moment we stepped through the door of Guff and were greeted (by Schroeder) to being assisted with checking out the table/being shown how the drop leafs work (by Schroeder) to paying for the table and a couple of ceramic cups and saucers (the latter just having arrived/but Schroeder looked them up/"no problem") to having our table prepped for pick up (by Paul and Schroeder) to being greeted the next day with a smile (by Paul) to the assist with the table being lifted into the back of our SUV (by Paul) ...it could not have been a better experience!! We will definitely be back -- AND we'll pass on to everyone we know and then some, what a great place to shop Guff is!

I was wearing hiking shoes and sat in the chair she picked out one that I tried on a carpeted surface. I thought it was sturdy enough and the tag said it was $139 which I thought was a steal. There was a mesh chair that interested me more but passed on the $300 price tag. Too good to be true, I bought it anyway. I noticed in the store the lever for locking the tilt and height adjustment was installed on the left side of the chair. So when I got it home I naturally slid out since I was on a wood floor and at that point it I realized it was installed backwards and the handle should have been on the right. Next day I took the screws out, moved the lever to the right and I could suddenly sit down in it without falling out of it. Besides throwing it in my suv, I did little to assemble this thing. These items are final sale, so make sure you have assessed the value of the floor models some designer returned before walking out with something you with you never bought.

You go to the store and ask if they're in stock. The minute you hint that one tore, the manager changes his demeanour. You show him a photo and he says well you've had those for a while because they've lost their colour. He shows you a dark grey cover and you say, they were never grey, we bought them and they were beige. He says, that's weird, I don't get that. You say, ya, me neither. He has to special order the love seat cover. You don't ask for a replacement, you ask for a discount because you get that you've gotten two seasons out of them and it's not fair to have them give you brand new ones. The manager says they need the original receipt. You say, I bought it all online during covid curbside so we should be in the computer. He repeats, we need the original receipt. I walk out. He says, do you want me to order these. I say, sure. The he says, we need a deposit. I say, forget it. I had no intention of going back. I have no intention of going back. You should either. From start to finish our experience was horrible. We picked them up during the height of covid and EVERYBODY took their masks off when they went behind the desk. While checking out, I watched a salesperson eating a messy burrito, licking her fingers and using the computer. It was bananas. It's on the smaller size, HOWEVER, the benefit is that it's waaay quieter than those other locations. Actually, it's probably even quieter than any Winners that I've been to! The location definitely has a part to play in that "been transported back in time" feeling. There's no sense of urgency or rush, just relaxation. I had a question about what was included in a package of bedding - it wasn't stated on the label - and the sales associate, who was doing something else at the time, actually went to another associate to find out for me. Who does that nowadays? If I were in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to stop here 'cause I don't like shopping in crowded places.

I'd argue that it's the perfect fit for the Clarkson community, as it accurately sums the sleepy, docile nature of the community. I ended up coming here to kill a few hours and get in on some late Boxing Day shopping after the New Year, and was extremely surprised to find that half the store was on clearance. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that a good 40-50% of the goods on sale were either marked with tags or set up on "Clearance" endcaps, which was extremely amusing considering there was SO MUCH of it still on display. $2 packs of PUR gum, dirt-cheap Christmas and designer decorations, all sorts of weird food items for pennies on the dollar... makes the mind boggle with how much product is back there that they struggle to sell it all even with 80-90% discounts. One thing I'll definitely give the store credit for is that it's generally very quiet, the service is prompt, and you're generally bound to find something you want, whether it's a weird knick-knack or a book that interests you. In the end, we ended up buying a bunch of themed Christmas foods (including peppermint bark coffee liqueur and chocolate candy-cane shaped shortbread cookies), along with some odds and ends. I find I like visiting here every time in the area. Despite it's similar layout and product offerings as Winners (take out the men's/women's fashion and you have Homesense), the service and selection put it a cut above. Definitely a worthwhile anchor store in Clarkson Village Plaza.
