In March of 2010 I asked Cyra to build a Custom Mac for me that would allow me to record my band live. I told him that I would need a Mac that could handle 6 to 8 instruments/vocals coming in at the same time. I told him that I would be using a Digidesign 003, FireWire Audio Interface with Pro Tools LE. I am not a technology kind of guy so I was at his mercy. Cyra was patient with me and explained what I would need. The bottom line, I would need a fast processor that could handle of lot of data simultaneously. I also purchased a regular PC (non-Mac) a year or so ago for just home use. My girlfriend and I both had older computers and we needed an upgrade. He built what we needed and used external hard drives to transfer all of our old data from our old PCs freeing up the new PC's hard drive. This worked perfect and I've been happy with it ever since. We had held out on getting a MacPro because of an imminent refresh but that went on for two to three years. When at last Apple revealed their thinking on what the new MacPro would be it left us cold with its lack of in cabinet expansion for drives and PCI cards. Looking for a used MacPro (on the advice of our Apple retailer) inadvertently lead us into the world of the custom built platform often know as the hackintosh. After a few forays on Craigslist Cyra's offering came up. He was very responsive and spent considerable time explaining in detail our options. Once he knew what kind of work we did (prepress production involving large graphic files) he was able to make suggestions. Is was a big jump for us out of the Apple fold. I am a studio furniture maker and an artist and I use CAD (Rhino 3D & Grasshopper) software in my work. My CAD runs in Windows and I do the rest of my computing in Mac OS. Cyra set up a dual operating system machine (much like a Bootcamp approach) that is working well. I wanted a more expensive video card for my graphics but he did the research and suggested something less expensive that he thought would do the job fine with the caveat that he would put in a more expensive one if it didn't. Of course it worked fine and my point is that Cyra builds a computer specifically for your use, not just to make as much profit as he can. The computer was well-packed but ended up by being brutalized by UPS of FEDEX. Something got loose in the guts but Cyra was clear and responsive in his help and we quickly solved the issue. I would definitely recommend him as extremely knowledgeable, responsive and a good value if you want an alternative to the expensive 'other choice'. read more

I am a composer in the video game industry (8 years). I also work on sound design and do engineering + mixing for bands using DAWs (15 years). I bought a 6 core, 4.3gHz system with 32GB RAM from Iconic Workstations in late 2012. I had some initial problems with kernel panics and crashes, but Cyra and his team were always there to help. They responded on the same day or with 24hours to my requests for assistance - even on weekends. We sorted out what caused the trouble and I now have a killer system that I use as my main machine for music production.
