DAY OF THE SHOOT: We met up on campus at UCLA and he explained to me that I could suggest places where I wanted pictures specifically or that he could also find areas that would look great in pictures. I suggested a few spots on campus and we went to take the pictures. I wasn't sure about what poses to do, but Javier was prepared with examples of poses I can do. We did the standard headshot, he guided me with how to pose with my sash, as well as placed me where the light would come out best. He was very warm, professional, and paid attention to detail throughout the shoot. RECEIVING THE PICTURES: Javier let me know that there would be about a week period until I would receive the final photos. However, to my delight, he delivered the pictures within 3 days of the shoot! He delivered them through a google drive link that only I had access to. All the pictures were impeccable quality. WOULD I HIRE HIM AGAIN? Definitely. He was very caring, easy to work with, and genuine about delivering the best pictures he could. There's no doubt that Juan will be taking photos for my future family. Juan has taken photos for many of my friends and their families, and I had always admired his work. We had an initial discussion to figure out the schedule for the day and any key pictures that we wanted. We basically wanted our wedding to be a fun party that we could enjoy too, so we didn't want to spend a long time taking photos. Juan suggested that we take "first look" photos before the ceremony, which was a great idea. When Juan arrived at my house (where I had my hair and makeup done), he got right to it, taking photos of my dress, the rings, and candids. He didn't need any hand-holding, and found some cool surfaces and backdrops for the photos. We were running a little late when we got to the venue (my fault), so we had about 45 minutes to get dressed and take our "first-look" photos. Juan quickly scoped out and took pictures of the venue and my husband and me getting ready. Once dressed, we only had 15 minutes to take first-look pictures. Juan had already picked out four or five really cool settings and we jumped right in. This was the only time during the day that I got nervous, because we were in a time-crunch. Juan's background in modeling was evident as he gave us a few easy suggestions to help us relax and find our best angles. Juan's ceremony pictures were my favorites! I honestly never saw him taking pictures, but he captured all of the intimate moments that help you relive the day. He got a few artsy photos in too, letting the sun rays fill a wide-angle picture of the ceremony and our guests. As the evening moved on, and got rowdy, Juan snapped a really good collection of photos of people dancing, groups hanging out, and speeches. Another favorite was the shots he got when my dad gave a speech and pulled out a letter that I wrote to Santa when I was 6. We were all laughing so hard, and the photos really captured the moment (again). I've already printed about 40 photos for framing and sending to our parents. Juan had adjusted the color, etc. on all the photos, so the prints were perfect. Like I said, I would recommend Juan to anyone. Him and his assistant photographed our wedding on June 2, 2017 and we are thrilled with the over 2k (!) photos we got back. I can't stop looking at them, they are beautifully done with an excellent mixed of planned and unplanned shots. We initially saw his work and decided to go with him because we really wanted to steer clear of the cheesy wedding photography we saw allllll the time (super staged photos with the wedding party doing different poses etc) and Jose's work reminded us of music album covers or something similar. It was artsy but not so much that you couldn't tell what was going on. It was just the perfect balance. He captured so many great moments from our wedding, virtually all of our guests and the setting and "vibe" of the place extremely well. I got…read moremarried October 2021 & we got our pictures almost a whole year after, like the end of September 2022 & the video they sent it days or a couple of weeks after the pictures. i couldn't help but to feel so disappointed in Jose's turn around time. I am not happy with my pictures to be honest...for the amount of time it took for us to get our pictures, I would think there would be photoshop/ editing of imperfections,people,background stuff etc. and there was none. We reached out to Jose a couple months after our wedding to check in, and see when we would receive our pics & video, and we kept getting the run around. I understand life happens, but I would also see him booking other photoshoots and just wondered when we would receive our pictures . We never got a sneak peak of our pictures either. We reached out a couple more times and as mentioned we would get push back/told to wait so we would, thinking he would come through. It wasn't until my husband messaged him telling him to reimburse us because it was taking too long, it took for us to send that message & Jose all of a sudden had our pictures ready. When I went through the pictures I was so disappointed. I felt like editing was rushed and noticed many things you think he'd edit out or fix. I think only the lighting on some pictures was adjusted because we asked for our money back, he just sent the pictures how they were or did a few lighting adjustments. Some pictures are darker than others. They took so long and I expected perfection thinking that because they took long he was really working on them smh. It's been 2 years since I've been married and just to put it out there I don't have any of my wedding pictures printed or hanging on my walls. And 2 years after I am still bothered over my pictures. I didn't even want to post or share my pictures on social media because it was a whole year after my wedding that I got them. We ended up booking a photographer out in Greece for our 1yr anniversary because I wanted a redo for my wedding pictures & although I am not in my wedding dress those are the ones I love & have up. So sadly, I haven't and won't recommend Jose to friends & family.
