My wife attended this school for junior high and she said it was the best years of her academic life ! After our first tour, I thought I died and went to heaven. We literally nicknamed the school "Ed utopia". Let me say as an educator with 20 years experience, it takes a lot to impress me. This school has it all. Amazing teachers that truly care, a community sense where every teacher (no matter the grade) knows every child, multiple teachers for every class, ridiculous technology innovation, opportunities for public speaking, and the parents truly join together and get to know one another and help each other in true community form. I now have a fifth grader and first grader here. We live 30 minutes away but it is well worth the drive for the experiences my children have that only this school could provide . You will not be disappointed in this school.

And they love her!…read moreIn fact, when I mentioned to my 5 year old son today that I canceled tennis lessons later this week he started crying. Clearly a fan! And then there's my 7 year old daughter who refuses to do any sports, but she happily heads to tennis with Becky each week. She even told me last week that Becky definitely deserves 5 stars on Yelp, which is probably the reason I'm finally getting around to writing this review! Becky is fun and patient with the kids. She does 30 minutes with the my son and his friends, followed up with 30 minutes with my daughter and her friends. It's a fast lesson, but she gets a lot of tennis in during a short time It's impressive to see how the kids have progressed over the year. They are actually hitting the ball over the net now...and had a consistent rally the past few weeks. While Becky was on maternity leave months ago we signed the kids up for tennis at AC Nielsen and I find this to be a much better experience. The facility itself is nice- mostly lots of indoor tennis courts, but also a few outdoor ones as well, which we haven't been so lucky to see this cold spring. There's a small waiting room, but the kids not playing tennis usually just run around the other side of the court while Becky teaches. There's plenty of parking right outside and it's conveniently (or maybe not conveniently) across the street from Target. We've only had private lessons with Becky here, but I've heard good things about their basketball and tennis camps so may sign my son up for one of those in the future. And I may even brush the dust off my tennis racquet and take an adult lesson at some point too.

I've…read morealso toured the building, and I have to say each time I set foot in the front lobby I'm reminded of how spectacular Takiff is... we're talking a first class facility that's as clean as a hospital (in a good way). Takiff is a huge space that consists of a bunch of rooms for classes, for kids to adults, like art, yoga, cooking, enrichment programs, and I think there is even a pottery studio. The gym is oversized for sports activities and events (I don't think they allow food or drink in there). Today I saw how organized their staff is when it comes to managing the many kids coming in and out of the building for day camp. For those thinking of signing up for a program, the team seems to really have their act together. Everyone is lovely and professional. Aside from the various classes and classrooms, GJK is onsite, and I think they also have another Park District preschool. Wiggleworms hosts music classes here too. Though I haven't actually seen the beach rentals, I've seen pictures. Inside there is a more formal room in Takiff with gorgeous windows and high ceilings, fit for a beautiful wedding reception or other formal event. The main level party room with a stage seems like it would be great for kids birthday parties. So much to do and see. I could go on and on, but you'll just need to go check it out for yourself! If you're coming from the north, the turn is a bit tricky, so keep your eyes peeled for the entrance. Parking lot onsite.

Even teachers who are not your own specific teacher are very welcoming -- thank you! -- and the students in class are very welcoming as well. There are so many sweet girls here. I also feel afterwards that it was like good physical therapy for my body. I leave feeling like my whole body is happy and relaxed. I was pleasantly surprised by that.

Not only do they hit every Chicago hot spot, from MLB games to Navy Pier, The WIllis Tower & Great America but they also hit the best north shore swimming pools & beaches two to three times a week. In addition, my kids get to be crafty, learn new sports and spend a summer making friends that will last for many more summers to come. This has been our first summer but will absolutely not be our last!

They have had almost all super positive experiences with counselors, only 1 that was so-so in 6 or seven years. The field trips are great. Great America being the high-light - twice this year. Once for rides and once in water park. They also really like the sports aspect. My son talks about the basketball games at the end of the day as much as everything else. I also think the camp directors really care about the kids, and really want them to have a fun summer.

We definitely still need practice, but Bill completely jump-started their bike journeys. The best way I can describe him is that he felt like the grandfather your kids never had... and maybe I didn't either. He's kind, endlessly encouraging, patient, and has this incredibly calming presence that immediately puts everyone at ease. The lessons were fun and lighthearted, but Bill also knows exactly when to be serious about the things that matter. He somehow manages to make kids feel capable and confident without pressure. I truly could not recommend Bike Bill enough... assuming you can get in with him, because he's very popular. And after spending time with him, I completely understand why.

This is a day program for people with dementia and Alzheimer's. Our loved one has been attending…read moreon weekdays for 2.5 years. They are hands down the best elder care experience we have had. From the cooks, to the front desk staff, to their nurses, social workers, and directors, the entire staff is excellent. They take their jobs, and caring for our loved one, extremely seriously but do with a smile, fun, and a sense of warmth. They have fantastic activities throughout the day. And it is all about giving people choices and individualized care. It is not the same old sit around and do bingo and watch the news all day. They have an art therapist on staff who gets them to really express themselves creatively. They have live music, often multiple times a week. They have intergenerational activities, pet therapy, go on outings, have dances, and more. It has been a tremendous outlet for our loved one to feel constructive and useful as this disease progresses. Additionally, the social work and nursing staff really have supported our family's entire experience of coping with Alz. and their case management goes well beyond the services provided at the day program. They have helped up brainstorm living situations, medical issues, and much more. I really appreciate that they have scholarships available and that the participants are from very diverse backgrounds both ethnically and financially. The only complaint we have is that they can't set up a cot and have our loved on live there! He and we would be so happy to see him with this quality of care 24/7.
