I injured my ankle a few years ago playing touch and being a young student at the time decided to forgo seeking treatment. This was a huge mistake and over the years not only did my ankle never heal, but my body adjusted to compensate - which only caused more issues and pain. I decided to finally seek help and after trying two other physiotherapists nothing seemed to be working. Luckily for me, I stumbled across Barefoot online and based on their approach decided to give them a crack. During my first appointment, we did a very thorough overview of my specific injury, my whole body, my day-to-day experience and what I wanted to eventually achieve physically. I was pleasantly surprised at how in-depth this process was and how the results from this meeting alone drastically improved my injury. Following my appointment, I was assigned exercises that were practical, manageable and most importantly enjoyable. What's better was that were I to be under the weather or get bored, I could easily interchange or intensify my exercises. Over the next few months I saw my physiotherapist, Sal, many times. Every appointment I went to was reactive and based on progression. Depending on my adventures between appointments, my treatment and exercises were modified to ensure I saw and felt improvements with every visit. During busy weeks where I was unable to train as much as I would have liked, I never felt any guilt coming to see Sal because she understood that life is complex and I knew that between her expertise and confidence in me, we would be back on the horse in no time. For over a month now I've been using specialised training equipment Barefoot lent me, free of charge. By comparison, I know physio's that charge for tape! What's more, as my ankle improved I needed less and less appointments - a sign of true dedication to the patient. What has made Barefoot truly stand out however, is that I am treated as more than a simply customer. Sal was (and still is) incredibly attuned and sincerely dedicated to ensuring that I not only continue to improve my ankle's condition, but that I also live a genuinely good life. During my time here, Sal and the team at Barefoot have treated me like family. I always look forward to our appointments where I am not only expertly and professionally treated but enjoy meaningful conversation and a sharing of our experiences. Sal's outlook on life and problem-solving talents even helped me gain a new perspective regarding my own future pathway. I could continue this review with the many specific moments and features that make Barefoot Physiotherapy the virtuous establishment it is, but for the sake of anyone reading this I'll sum up by saying: they don't just treat the injury, they treat the person; and Barefoot has treated me very, very well. Pat is a fantastic physiotherapist and he only employs other top notch physios. He's busy but I don't stress if we can't get in to see him right away - anyone else available is always great too. So when I moved to Brisbane I was a little hesitant to find someone new. I have tried a few doctors but once I went to St Lucia Medical, I knew I had found a good match. The doctors here are very friendly and take the time to make you feel comfortable and safe and valued. The admin staff are also extremely nice and know you by name if you come in regularly. Everytime I have been there they have always been smiling, even when it has been quite busy. All doctors are notorious for running late, but at St Lucia Medical this has only happened to me once and I was only waiting for 15 mins. They offer a good range of magazines and childrens books in the waiting room, so any wait you do get seemingly goes fast. While St Lucia Medical does not bulk bill, they are reasonably priced for their services. I would definitely recommend them if you prefer a more personalised GP experience.

My first consult at X Physio was with the intention of beginning Pilates in their on-site studios. I respected that you need an initial physio consult as an assessment of your individual needs prior to starting their physio-led classes. Rod quickly took one look at my situation and adjusted my expectations. Rather than letting me jump in he explained I needed a little more ground work. Heck, at this point I couldn't bend over and touch my toes without severe pain. Fast forward a month and I'm able to bend and touch my toes with the gentle stretch the motion should give you. I've also got the thumbs up to start Pilates, my original goal. It's been worth the investment and taking control of my back issues rather than letting them control me. I'm so used to doctors being so busy that you wait for ages and then before you know it, they are shunting you out of their office for their next appointment within 15 minutes. That's why when we first saw Brad and he was happy to chat to us like normal people, it really did surprise us. But you have a waiting room full of people waiting to see you? Why are you talking to us for so long. He takes the time to find out everything there is to know about you, your family and your condition (and he doesn't mind my 2 year old opening and closing the drawers and running around his office in general) and that is what made all the difference to us. He told us about himself, his family, his kids, he told me about the services they offered, what kind of pregnancies there were. Explained to me stuff about my gestational diabetes. I also developed PUPPPS (Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy) in my last 2 weeks of pregnancy which is supposed to clear up a week after giving birth but mine hung around for about 2-3 months after... I thought I was going to die of itchiness and be scarred for life. It was bad rashes up my arms, legs, stomach... the worst. Brad was there every step of the way, he told me it was very rare, and told me not to feel like a freak, it would clear up then asked me to take some pictures so he could form a case study as I was only 1 of the 3 he'd ever seen with such severe PUPPPS. Anyway, long story short, he is awesome, has a sense of humour and is happy to chat with you and doesn't rush you out. He doesn't charge anything above the Medicare gap (bonus) and has one of the lowest management fees compared to the rest. He also has an ultrasound machine so everytime you go see him, you can see your baby too! Oh, and you get a very nice box full of all things post birth like creams, wraps, lotions after you have your baby from his office. Yay!
