The store, not my ex... She loves old antique furniture and if you want to fill your house with antiques and have a big wallet then this is where you need to go. There are 2 stores setup side by side with sheds down the back that hold even more stock. When you think you've seen everything there is to see here you can go downstairs in the main shop and see another 3-4 rooms worth of items. Most items are Indian from the Edwardian era. From massive double doors, to beds and tables, to clocks, boxes and crates, if you have any love of antiques then you have to visit this place. Just fill that wallet full of cash before you do!!

It never seems that busy, which is great if you're in a rush. They have a good range of specialty products too, like proper mozzerella cheese. The fresh food section is nice and big, and all the produce looks fresh and vibrant. My only issue is no bottle shop! I don't drink that often, but it's so much easier to be able to duck into the bottle shop after I finish shopping for my groceries if I need to!

If you are looking for basics then I recommend rivers based on the fact that their clothing doesn't fall apart the first time you wear it which is always a bonus! and you're always guaranteed to find a plain tank top or a pair of tights when you need them, unless of course they were advertised on TV!! This brings me to share one of my local spots to rummage called Windmill Hill. Windmill Hill is located between Hahndorf and Mount Barker just off Mount Barker Road. It is a transfer, salvage and recycle station. There is a section for rubbish and recyclables, and then there is a salvage store. So, on your way to the dump you can sort through what you think may be able to be reused and save it! I love the idea in having a salvage store next to a waste station. It really makes you think twice about what you are throwing into landfill. The guys that run this store are really creative too and have been restoring old BBQ's into potting stations to sell. Windmill hill store a great selection of wood, tools, records, electrical gear, etc.. There are a heap of items that have been pulled from houses being refurbished. I have seen some cool old sinks and doors here. There is also a great collection of ceramics, glass bottles and items to use for gardening. I have just bought a house and I will be back for wood, fencing and tools. If you need building materials for your house or want some cool vintage ceramic displays, check out this place.

Definitely worth a look. The only downside is they need to get rid of non moving stock a bit quicker. I've seen the same George Foreman grills there for about 3 years. I'm not sure if they get everything from the dump next door but I think you can donate too. They also have a great selection of building materials , bikes, outdoor tools and other things that your salvation army/goodwill won't take.

Today the female owner rudely approached us when she saw I had my phone in my hand checking my messages (because that's what people do with their fucking mobile devises) when she came up and rudely said "have you seen the sign? The said said something like "No digital devises/media to be used in the store". I did not take photos of any products (why???) and anyone can do what the fuck they like with their own devises as long as you are not taking photos or recording without consent (which I most certainly did not do). Then she has the attitude do to say "do you need any help or are you just browsing and eyes us off the whole time as we look around. Funny thing is I actually saw a statue I was going to buy but the second she approached us in that manner I instantly changed my mind. As a small business you might have the brains to treat people more respectfully and we will never visit this shop again and will make sure to tell everyone we know to do the same. What an absolute joke.

This store is like walking into some sort of church, by that I mean there is leadlight everywhere, classy, well made lead light crafted into lamps and shades. it is absolutely stunning, not cheap but fairly priced for what you are purchasing. not only are the products beautiful but the man behind the counter is fun and friendly and he didn't get miffed at my 2 year old niece who kept trying to touch everything which was a bonus. it's not a huge store but there is so much stuff in here, my favourites are the table lamps which are leadlight from base to shade, if i had a spare $400 that baby would be sitting on my bedside table - no matter how out of place it would look. Oscars is one of those stores that will make you sigh twice, once for the beauty and again for the price tag.
