Zero Stars should be an option…read more Please read before you attend. Searching for a church for our family & thought we found a home. Attended for a while with our teens. Our family suffered tremendous tragedy & we were all struggling. Going to church as a family was something we needed as a family but we were all hurting. We were all looking for peace. As parents we wanted our teens to keep their faith but after our life experiences, they were losing their faith. We looked forward to attending services & hoped our oldest son would get baptized here. One Sunday, the pastor discussed biblical scripture that detailed religious elite were not accepting people they believed to be beneath them & how Jesus was accepting of everyone with open arms. That has always been our belief. The ironic thing was, the pastor, Chuck Land, followed this scripture with basically the following statements: If you are here & not giving back, not volunteering & not going ti weekly group classes, not making a difference in the church then we don't need you. Let that sink in. Chuck Land stated that the church needed those in attendance to be known & actively participate or to "get up & leave because someone else needs your seat." Our family for the record always gave financial donations each & every week. We filled out visitor cards & made prayer requests. We were trying to become a part of the church family. We had made connections about volunteering & having our children volunteer. Our methods may have been slower than most, idk but it should not matter. Church should be a place to feel welcome, safe & loved. To hear the pastor speak such vile words, we were all shaken. Shocked... Waking to the parking lot, my husband asked if I felt hurt & could I believe what we were just told? I said I felt lied to & betrayed & basically felt that people like us were asked to leave, that we weren't important to the church, that they didn't want it need members like us. Unbelievable. The pastor's statements were the opposite of what he was preaching! Would Jesus ask a hurting, struggling family sitting in church pews week after week, praying & trying to heal & hoping they found their church home, to leave??? Seems so many church leaders are lost. I wonder how Chuck Land would react if Jesus stood up & left after he told people in his church in his pews, to go to group classes & volunteer or to get out. We left & honestly it broke our hearts. Our kids went off to school & our church bonding time was over. I am angry with pastors like Land who think they are better & that everyone should be who they want their members to be. We are all different with different things going on & different ways to give back. Some of us are out here truly struggling. People struggle & you never know the depths they came from to just be sitting in that church seat. He should be thankful that they are there! Thankful to see them week after week! He should welcome them with open arms as Jesus would do. & maybe with that love & acceptance that family would be healed enough to start giving back with volunteer time, etc. Our experience at Crossbridge was awful. I don't recommend Chuck Land or his "church".

The grounds are very clean and well kept, and the interior is spacious and open, ready to welcome all who venture there. Most contact went through FCCC's wedding coordinator Timberley. She was so helpful with all our questions and concerns. We hit a snag with the music CD (the AV system couldn't play our mp3 files), but she was able to make it work by converting the audio files. On our days on-site, she was very patient and readily available. Our minister Joel was great; he was such a warm person and was very easy to talk to. We enjoyed that he took the time to get to know us as individuals, even if that meant weekend evenings to accommodate our schedules. Overall, we have nothing negative to say about our experience with FCCC. The people, the site, everything was lovely!

As we get older, we need help to point us in the right direction especially being such a large facility. As the bagpipes played to introduce the reverend and the care placed to show how each family member felt about the passing of their loved one, you can tell much thought was put to make sure this service was both special and memorable . The parking was a bit of a challenge since the memorial was filled with runners, triathletes and others touched by this person who was a coach , a race director and business owner that made an impact on many others lives. The Bridge had enough area to sit inside but with its lax policy on masking, I choose to stand at the back of the church so could social distance.( We are still in a pandemic with cases rising in Houston so better to be careful .) I stayed for most of the service and was appreciative of the kindness and care given to include his family and friends . There are multiple congregations on site, but they all belong to Fort Bend Community Church. This is a historically Chinese church, with Chinese language ministers and congregations. They also have a contemporary English service, with one English Pastor. However, all the other ministers also preach during the English service, in their semi-broken English (which is pretty much all the comedy you will get during the sermon). The church is trying to go the multiethnic route, which is evident by the name of the church. They removed the "Chinese" from the title and set up the church to be "accepting" of all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. However, all the ministers are Chinese which makes it seem like other ethnicities are guests and not part of the church family. I attend the English service only. The preaching is decent. They typically follow a "explain the Bible passage" model of preaching, which usually reduces the congregation to a bunch of idiots. Seriously, I understood the passage the first time I read it...I really didn't need it preached at me. However, that's the path taken by the majority of churches in Houston, especially Chinese churches. I visit this church though because I have gotten to know the people, which are very nice...also, I just can't seem to find a better church (I also don't look very hard - Bedside Baptist is just too tempting sometimes).

It is predominantly Asian, and that comes with cultural issues in itself, but there are people there who really want to grow and learn about God and who are passionate about missions. Much of their mission work focuses on Asia though, but because of that there are many new believers from Asia that have come to the church. The Mandarin and Cantonese church services are growing a lot from what I hear, and that is thanks to God and also great leadership from Pastor Lam. The demographic of the church is mostly people from Sugar Land so bear in mind that it is a church in a rich suburb. People may not be as aware of issues outside that demographic, but there are many strong Christians there that are aware. Like any other church or people group, there are good people and there are bad people, but we all need Jesus and none of us are truly "good" anyways. I will continually pray for this church and hope for more growth as they continue to do ministry.

I found that I was getting more from my radio program in the mornings than I was getting from the messages that I received at the church that I was attending. First Colony bible Chapel is a small community church and that really appeals to me. They were very friendly when my husband and I attended the family Bible hour on Sunday. The people were very friendly and gave a very warm welcoming. If you are looking for a big production or entertainment this is not the place to be. But if you really want to know more about Jesus Christ, and God then this might just be the place for you. After talking it over with my husband we will be trying this church out again next weekend. We made this church our new home. The people here are like family and this is the most friendly church and the most loving group of people I've ever known. Give them a try, I think you'll love it!
