Yesterday was my grandmother's funeral. But it didn't feel like a funeral. It felt like a church…read moresermon. A service. Not a celebration of life as they said it was. They only originally allowed 2 immediate family members to speak about my grandmother. And my family fought for 4. But her grandchildren and any other family members who didn't speak were subjected to the karaoke mic in the Cafe AFTER the service which not one person used. I couldn't speak on my grandmother's funeral because they needed to have a sermon to fulfill their agenda of speaking on whether a boy should be a boy or a girl should be a girl going as far as bringing chromosomes into the mix. I couldn't speak at my grandmother's funeral because they needed to pump 1 more worship song into the mix to meet a quota I'm assuming. The 2 pastors spoke more about the "word of God" than my actual gramma. Some said this is what she would have wanted but no it wasn't. She was a godly woman yes but she was a Family Woman and would have wanted everyone to get together and speak and tell stories. I have been to many funerals. I was even able to speak at my coworkers funeral. But I couldn't speak at my grandmother's. Absolutely the worst funeral I've ever been too as it was hijacked and used by the church instead of sending her off or giving the family the closure we needed. You can't fix this. There isn't a "redo" button. My grammas gone. An absolute travesty of a service for a woman who deserved the world. A woman who made towels for all of my swimmates in highschool with their names on it, but no one will know. The same woman who joined me on many business adventures like buying a cutco set from me or joining me when I joined Primerica for a short time. A woman who made me shirts for my reptile business to support me. The woman who gave me my green thumb. But no one will know. Because I didn't get to speak at my grammas funeral.

The Sisters that taught us were the Sisters of Reparation and they and the parishioners there were some of the most Godly people I have ever met. I have such fond wistfull memories of my time there at the church and school. O really love the fact that they are still intact there doing the lords work. That church and school is a holy place of God that is worth visiting . I can't wait to see those wonderful Sisters and Pastors that showed me Christ's love again in heaven someday . What a disappointing joke this program has become…read more A program that claims to be built on Christ, love, fellowship, and helping people in recovery should be providing a safe and supportive environment for vulnerable men who are struggling mentally, physically, and emotionally. Instead, it feels like those values are being used as a façade while people who are already down and out are being taken advantage of for labor and financial gain. I genuinely have to ask: what kind of rehabilitation program takes people in recovery to raves where drugs are present and where people are openly naked? How is that supposed to protect someone's sobriety or help prevent relapse? And it doesn't stop there. They were also taken to a college campus to help move new students into their dorms, where topless women were reportedly walking around the men while they were working. This is especially concerning when you consider that there are also men in the program who are specifically there for sex addiction and are supposed to be working on recovery, boundaries, and self-control. How is intentionally placing people in environments filled with obvious triggers consistent with a responsible rehabilitation program? Then there are serious questions surrounding the use of participants' labor. When people enter a rehabilitation program because they are vulnerable and desperately need help, their labor should not become a way for individuals connected to the program to personally benefit. There have also been claims of participants providing substantial plumbing work on the pastor's son's brand-new home. If that work was performed for personal benefit without fair compensation, that raises serious questions about where the line between rehabilitation, service, and exploitation is being drawn. People in recovery deserve transparency, accountability, safety, and genuine support. They deserve an environment designed to help them succeed--not one that repeatedly places them in situations that could jeopardize their recovery. If this program truly represents the Christian values it claims to stand for, then there should be nothing to fear from transparency and accountability. At this point, it is incredibly difficult to see the love, compassion, and genuine fellowship that are being preached. What I see is a program that appears to have lost sight of the very people it was created to help. People who are struggling deserve better. People in recovery deserve better. And they deserve a program that puts their recovery above money, labor, and personal gain.

Leadership was cold and uncaring about the physical well being of the people they were supposedly responsible for "rehabilitating." I became ill while at U-turn, and had to convince them that I needed medical attention. Instead of taking me to the hospital, they dropped me off at a bus stop somewhere in Riverside. I had a terrible pain in my abdomen, couldn't eat, and had a 102 fever, and it was 96 degrees outside. I waited hours for the bus and eventually ended up calling a cab. Once I was finally examined at the ER, they ran a CT scan and found a football sized abscess under my intestines where my appendix had burst a week before. It was a miracle that I was still alive. I was in the hospital on and off for the next few months until I could have what was left of my appendix removed. These people claim to be Christians, but treat hurting people like trash because of their views on the "power of faith", as if faith is some kind of currency that God deals in. This is a dangerous, disgraceful, and dishonest program that should be investigated and permanently closed. They are not trained or equipped to deal with mental or physical health problems, and are barely biblically competent if at all. The people running it should stop claiming the name of Christ and bringing dishonor to Him by taking his name in vain.

I am deeply saddened and disappointed by my experience at this church today. I have been coming to…read morethis parish for approximately 10 years, and it has been an important part of my faith and spiritual life. Unfortunately, the way confession is currently being handled has become extremely discouraging. Confession began at 9:00 a.m., and we arrived at approximately 9:08 a.m.--only eight minutes after confession had started. Despite arriving that early, we were told that the church had already "reached its limit" and that we would not be able to confess. I was also told that there were four priests available, which made being turned away only eight minutes after confession began even more difficult to understand. As a mother of a one-year-old daughter who is also currently expecting another child, simply making the time and effort to come to confession is not always easy. I made the effort to get there because my faith is important to me and because I genuinely wanted to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. To arrive just eight minutes after confession began and already be told there was no room for me was incredibly disheartening. I have faithfully attended this church for many years and have donated and supported this parish countless times because I believed in this community and its mission. I have never expected special treatment because of that support, but I do expect a church to do everything reasonably possible to make the sacraments accessible to the faithful who are actively seeking them. Confession should not feel like an appointment with a limited number of available slots. If parishioners are arriving within minutes of confession beginning and are already being turned away, then clearly the current one-hour window is not sufficient for the needs of this parish. Of all places, the Church should be where someone seeking forgiveness, reconciliation, and a closer relationship with God feels welcomed--not rejected because a limit has been reached. I understand that priests have schedules and many responsibilities, but limiting confession to one hour when there is clearly a much greater need does not seem realistic or responsive to the needs of the parish. As priests, you have an incredible responsibility to shepherd people toward Christ and the sacraments. When people are voluntarily showing up and asking to confess, I would hope that every reasonable effort would be made to receive them rather than send them home. What troubles me most is that I did not arrive near the end of confession. I arrived eight minutes after it began. If the capacity for confession is already filled within eight minutes, then something about the current system needs to be reconsidered. Parishioners should not have to wonder whether they need to arrive significantly before the scheduled start time just to have an opportunity to receive a sacrament. After nearly 10 years of considering this my church, today's experience left me feeling genuinely hurt and questioning whether this parish is doing enough to make the Sacrament of Reconciliation accessible to its community. I sincerely hope the parish reconsiders how confession is scheduled and handled. If the demand is consistently greater than what can be accommodated, then additional confession times, longer hours, or another system should be considered. The fact that parishioners can arrive only minutes after confession begins and already be turned away should be a clear indication that the current arrangement is not meeting the needs of the community. I am sharing this because I care deeply about my faith and about this church. That is precisely why today's experience was so upsetting and disappointing.
