Such a fun, creative, enjoyable experience! We were fortunate to have Eleanor as our instructor as she expertly balanced teaching, letting us take the reins, and then ensuring our pieces would actually turn out well by taking over when needed.

First time at this place; have been wanting to attend a first Friday's glassblowing demonstration (Free event!) for sometime. It's a very cool set up with indoor and outdoor space and bleacher seats set up to watch the glassblowing demonstrations. They had little glass blown objects for sale as well as food and drink for purchase. Raffles throughout the evening coupled with ping-pong table, and Jenga set if you wanted to take a break from the demonstration. Really informative and fun to watch. Also enjoyed walking through the gallery afterwards. If I could be a collector, it would be for these items.

Amazing Place to come out to watch Glass Blowing Demonstrations. I also admire and have respect that Ignite Studios provides a tuition free glass art education around Chicago to youth ages 12-19. It is a great opportunity for youths to explore and have a creative mindset on Art. This is a diverse program that allows the youth to interact and participate of learning how to Team Build. The Glass Blowing Event on yesterday was awesome. I enjoyed watching how the youth came together to create a Holiday Masterpiece. Great Team Building and Social Skills. One of the parents had a snack table set up for Holiday Snacks which were amazing. Complimentary Coffee, Juice and Hot Chocolate. The glass pieces are made uniquely different in there own way. There is even a deal on Groupon that you can purchase to come and take a class for a drinking glass. If you are interesting in coming out to watch a free glass demonstration go on Eventbrite for dates and time. You can even rent out a space for weddings or other events. Very nice location.

Very cool hidden gem in Chicago that offers classes for glass-making. The studio space has some awesome pieces (look for the French bulldog and anglerfish) and is available as an event space. Ignite is proactive about supporting Chicago area charities. Highly recommend!

    This one came out nicely!

I was really excited to do a glass blowing 1-hour class here. Overall, it's a very nice studio, but the class was a lot more hands off than we expected, especially for how expensive it was. We had 1 item come out great and another come out pretty poorly. This studio also charged us for asking to change our class date (we asked several days in advance).

Our instructor Alan was fantastic! We could not have asked for a better coach to make some glass with! The facility is very clean and well kept. The instructions are clear and it's fun and easy! Considering that we had no experience with glass blowing, I felt that we got to do a lot of hands on things. This is a great date night or just a very fun and memorable experience!

Very cool place, very nice people, very hot glory holes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kjtr35bKaWI I came here with my Valentine for Ignite's "date night" special that included making small glass hearts while enjoying sparkling wine and chocolates. We saw this promo mentioned on the news leading up to V day, and it sounded fun... The front lobby has a range of fine glassware for purchase (paperweights, vases, glass art), and the back area includes a large space where they can host private events, accommodate tables, bleachers, etc. - and of course, there's a glass studio. This is an impressive work space with all kinds of tools, benches/tables, and gigantic crazy-hot furnaces / kilns where the glass is heated. The back area was all decked out for V day, so it was very festive for our group. We sipped some wine and enjoyed some chocolate prior to making our hearts and also spoke with several employees about Ignite and our interests, what brought us there, etc. Every single staff member we met was super friendly and down to earth. The instructors were guiding us, hands on, step-by-step so even though we had no clue what we were doing, we felt comfortable. Ignite has a range of classes and workshops all year round, so if you're looking for something different to try out, I say go for it! We had a lot of fun.

Hi! How much is it to make a paperweight or a cup by myself?

I think their classes start in the slightly over $100 neighborhood. Their website has various options also.

For a school that attempts so hard to be cutting edge and up to date, they sure hate the idea of accessibility and simplicity. First, to park, you have to battle condo and greektown street parking (not to mention student parking) or fall into the trap known as UIC lot parking. Word to the wise, take the train or bus (bike/walk) to get here, if you seriously need to take a car come early and hunt down a street spot because you'll be trapped in lots or be towed if you don't. Second, it is pretty hard to find. Its in the nondescript building marked by a bland painted steel sign, walk through the door with the glass facade and follow the hall to the left and up some stairs. If you do not do stairs, you have to take the elevator the ever-annoying 1/2 flight of stairs, delineated in the elevator as "1F" rather than "1." Perhaps the F is for "fuck, what moron built an art gallery 1.5 floors up?" Third, the reason its free is due to the fact that they happen to think the graduate work that is rotated in is.. get this, worth viewing. The redeeming quality about this place is its free. You can't vote someplace that is free with one star unless you get suckerpunched, in my opinion. I haven't been hit visiting the gallery yet. Currently there are some fantastic graduate works (MFA show) for the next few weeks, but it can be hit or miss. C. Britt and M. Jinks are showing work until April, when E. Fleischauer and D. Carter (amongst others) are showing work, shouldn't be missed. Hey, at least its not SAIC..

The interior design is amazing, and I love how they've updated the store layout over time while keeping everything chic and stylish. In the meantime I would need to buy the correct size for the item. So I did as instructed and provided tracking details. I get a call from UPS the next day informing me that the address provided was no longer in use by Notre's Return Department. I mentioned this to the return agent who "promised to make it right." Another 4 days later of no response or next steps I reach out and I was provided a new address to ship the item to. Notre wanted me to pay to ship the item to them again after providing me with the wrong information to start. A better way to have resolved this issue would have been to send me a prepaid shipping label with the correct address info. Alternatively they should have allowed me to return the item in store like I wanted to at the start of this request. When I asked the service agent to provide details on how they are going to make good on the error, they went dark. It's been several days and I don't anticipate ever hearing back from them. I was an evangelist for this store. Their curation of the store is great. Their customer service is atrocious. I'll spend my money at svrn.
