I received nothing in the mail that weekend, and I waited a few extra days before contacting Tom for status. He told me he was having problems with mail. OK, but a call would have been nice, and if he had worked up an estimate he could have given it to me over the phone. Instead I was told he'd get right on it, or something to that effect. To this day, 10-11-24, I have heard nothing! Fine, if you don't want the job just say so. I contacted another electrical contractor who looked at the job one day and had a crew there 2 days later to complete it in an efficient, professional manner. I hate to use the terms efficient and professional in the same paragraph that mentions Leinster Electric, since Leinster is neither. If their Customer Service attitude is any indication of how they approach a job. Steer Clear! They do not deserve the 1 star I was forced to select.

At the same time, we wanted to install new recessed lights in several rooms, a new chandelier, had a doorbell that existed in theory but did not actually ring anything, and old thermostats that needed to be replaced. We then had a number of other repairs we realized we needed, and new outlets and lights to install. The project lasted on/off for three months. Mike Dininno Electric was there from the start, and Mike helped us take care of it all. The results, now complete, are excellent. Mike was easy to work with. He's a pleasant guy to chat with and good at explaining the work being done. He was patient in the face of many questions, and we felt we could ask him anything. Beyond just electric, he also gave advice on things like the placement and quantity of lights. He was flexible on the wording of his contract, and flexible in his scheduling, offering to come out on almost any time, any day--whatever made sense at the time. He was always easy to get a hold of. Though Mike did some of the work himself, he has a staff. Pete, who ran the majority of our project, was also easy to get a hold of, did great work, was easy to work with, chat with, and to have around the house. I gave Pete and Mike what I felt were a lot of details, and I can't think of any they missed. You'd expect a house in the midst of this sort of work to be a mess, but they kept it surprisingly clean. Mike also referred us to good people. After the bulk of the electric work, we needed to re-plaster and paint a lot of the house, and his painter friend, Toni, and his staff, did exquisite work. When the installation of a Nest proved a little trickier than anticipated, Mike was quick to call HVAC experts he knew could do it better than he could. Moving into an old house was chaotic and introduced us to a seemingly endless list of tasks. Mike Dininno helped make a lot of it easier.

While the initial work that he did was fine, the service afterwards leads us to that we can't possibly recommend them for electric work. We asked Brian to wire our living room from our office with cat5 as we had a need for a wired connection. He installed the wire and on the surface, it looked fine. When it didn't function properly, repeated emails and calls to Brian were yessed to death and left hanging. He even lied to say he stopped by our house and left a business card. I eventually diagnosed the problem that he wired the cat5 incorrectly as a crossover cable. Once I relayed this to him, still, he continued to blow me off. I even offered $10 for him to stop by when he was in the area to correct the job he had done wrong and he STILL didn't come. In the end, a friend recommended a crossover cable adapter ordered online and that fixed the problem (as 2 crossovers equals standard ethernet, so the adapter canceled out the crossover effect). So, after 4 months of trying to get Brian back here, I fixed the problem myself, at my own cost. Now, the cable has stopped working altogether and I have no reason not to believe it wasn't the poor job he did installing it. For that reason, I cannot recommend them for your electrical needs.
