Whenever I'm in Antwerp, I'm a regular customer at the Domestic, which I first discovered thanks to my airbnb host five years ago. Their fruit tarts are light and flavorful, a real treat with a weekend coffee (this is probably the only place where I don't feel guilty about indulging in pastries!). Their pistolets and bread are very good, too (esp. rye and wholegrain) - much better, in my opinion, than at Goossens, where everything tastes spelt. Super friendly service.

I instantly fell…read morein love with the shop, the owner, then environment that later the same day, I had to return for dessert! I was not disappointed. As I sat on the patio, I tried the Belgium waffle and I am pretty sure it was the best I had in Belgium. It was so crisp and so light. I also had the "kiwi one" (I didn't know what to call it, I think it is just called a biscuit) and it ended up being tongue melting. I sat there slowly eating each bite just to make it last longer. Dessert are made in-house which tends to be more and more rare. I had a few lovely chats with the vibrant owner and this spot ended up being one of my favorite stops in Antwerp and Belgium. Just lovely.
