I really enjoyed going shopping in IKEA. It's a cheaper way to get some home stuff. When you feel tired or hungry, you can always go to the café to get some food. Swedish meatballs are definitely a must-have when we go to IKEA. Last time, we also tried the strawberry vegan ice cream. I didn't really like it as it was a bit sour and too icy.

Great location to pick up what you need. However currently their entire lower level parking is closed for renovations. Inside, things are bright and clean and well staffed. Their new Circular Hub - formerly the As Is section - is huge! Come here to look for second hand items. The cafe was missing some classics though: cinnamon buns and plant based soft serve. At check-out it's fully self-serve now.

Plant-based Hot Dog with cabbage and dried onions, plus a Raspberry Sparkling Nordic Water

First, let's applaud IKEA for advertising so many plant-based food options in their cafe. Then, let's acknowledge that the only plant-based food option available on this Monday afternoon was a very ho-hum hot dog. The $3 for 2 vegan hot dogs and one Nordic water is a great price - and that's all it's worth. All out of everything else. No lingonberry drink. No pop. No soft serve. And certainly no plant balls (which are available to take home from the freezer case down the hall, and are excellent!) My partner said the lingonberry dairy soft serve was quite good. Ikea - you have all the ideas and none of the execution. 3 stars because the thought counts a little, and the price is always good.

Plexiglass up for COVID between staff and customers.

SPECIAL COVID-19 EDITION REVIEW: SAFETY PRACTICES, PROTOCOLS AND MORE. OPEN DURING COVID-19. (Stage 3 of the province of Ontario reopening) This IKEA is located on Queensway near Sherway Gardens. Parking is a bitch, sort of like wonderland except they've completely closed off underground parking and they lead you a certain way in the parking lot, which is very squished. There are arrows bringing most cars who have pre-ordered things online and are ready to be loaded in their car. Just like pre-covid, none of these people can drive and it's really easy to get into an accident around there, so be very careful. When you get to the door, there is security to ensure you have a mask or face covering on. Once you get up the escalator, you can see there are precautions like at help desks, staff have plexiglass, masks and there are signs stopping people from taking shortcuts due to COVID. Once you get to the famous IKEA restaurant, you will find that it is completely closed down due to COVID. However, there are people eating there. How? Peek behind the curtain and you'll find that they're serving IKEA staff only. We didn't know about this and were starving, so I told my girlfriend the food court downstairs is probably open (with hot dogs and whatnot). We get to the end, where we ask a staff member if the tiny restaurant is open. They said it's closed down due to COVID. I find this weird because their restaurant has plexiglass all over it but is NOT being used. Very ... interesting. I would've preferred to go to an actual cashier, however, we were directed to self checkout. There was no option to switch or anything which I found quite odd. Maybe they should ask if someone is comfortable with self checkout before directing them there. Everything seems to be sanitized but I'm quite a germaphobe especially during COVID and instead of self checkouts like at the grocery store where you scan your item over the scanner, they actually have guns you have to hold and press in order to scan an item. That's a negative for sure. Walking back to the car, it seemed like it wasn't worth the trip and we visited a local Cora's after to grab a bite. 3/5

I would say that of all the Ikeas I've been to in the GTA, this one in Etobicoke is the largest and the one with the best availabilities. I was in a dire need of a sit/stand table for work and I went to the one in Vaughan, and it was unavailable, so I went to this one in Etobicoke where not only did I find the item I was looking for in stock but many others on display as well as in stock. This IKEA is very conveniently located, you've to be careful about the parking as most of the parking is either underground or kind of hidden. If you arrive from behind the store, you'll find the open parking which is very convenient. Also, I found out that the employees are more knowledgeable and pay more attention to you. They are more available I would say. I needed one and I found one right there. Ah, how can I forget the meatballs!! Tasty as always. And then the ButterChicken at this location, huh, just don't even try it, you won't be left with a good taste in your mouth. Oh, and a fun fact; did you know that it's not pronounced as ai-key-yah! It's pronounced as Ee-key-ya!!!

WYSIWYG. Tomatoes make it look like a classic Irish breakfast. Those vegetable medallions are tasty at any time.

This review is solely for IKEA's restaurant here. I don't feel like creating a new listing for it seeing that, as populous as the GTA is, no one else has. This is a weird situation for me. Normally, IKEA stores get 3s and their restaurants get 4s. I haven't bought more than 10 to 20 items from an IKEA store in my life. However, I tend to like their restaurants, more so for their airiness, economy, and efficiency than for food and drink that's memorable. And, if I see one from a freeway, I'll file it away in my head as a food option wherever I may be. Here, the restaurant and the service were just fine, the place's layout and vibe aren't as upbeat as others I've been in, and the food was just okay. I had breakfast here and, while the food tastes and looks like IKEA restaurant food anywhere, the configuration of the platters was different from what I'm used to on this side of the border. I did like that I was able to add vegetable medallions to my platter. I'll eat those at any meal. This IKEA is in Etobicoke, which is basically sandwiched in between Toronto and massive Mississauga. I guess it's considered a nice area and, for an IKEA store to go into a particular market, it seemingly has to have people who are schooled, progressive, and cheap at the same time. That's why you don't see IKEA stores in run-down areas. That said, you can't miss this IKEA since it fronts the QEW. And, since you've seen it, you know that you have to get off this lakefront expressway and negotiate the not so easy on-and-off to get to and from the store. Additionally, the parking lot doesn't breathe quite as well as those in many American locations but, evidently, they've stashed some parking under the store itself. Regardless, my gut told me that both the restaurant and the store were boilerplate okay and that I won't be salivating if ever passing in front of it on the QEW at some point in the future.

    Salmon, nordic grains and veggies

The underground parking at this location saved us because it was raining outside and we were concerned how to transfer a sleeping baby into the stroller. We really only came here to eat. I had the salmon with nordic grain, mushroom soup and Daim cake. Ah, a three course meal for $15 and tastes good, what a deal!

    Plant balls

I have always been craving for IKEA meatballs and every time I go there I get their meatballs! This time I go, I wanted to try something a little bit different. Their PLANT BALLS, i wanted to see what's the difference between the plant balls and the meatballs. They are both yummy but plant balls are just a bit soft on the outside. Their berries sauce is very good as usual. However, the environment is pretty messy and tables are not clean. Also my brother got a coke to go with his meatballs but when I looked into the cup, there are oil in the coke which is very unpleasant to look at.. overall it's still yummy and good portion.

When you enter IKEA, you must brace yourself for a long, harrowing journey. Any such journey requires sustenance, IKEA offers the best solution: its cafeteria-style restaurant in the middle of the store. The food is based on swedish cuisine and tastes mind blowing! So you can relax from shopping and have some Salmon, or Haddock and Chips and many more! Salty, silky and rich, salmon is truly a versatile protein.

    Batter was totally undercooked!
    Mel H.

I can't decide which was worse - the food, or the service! I ordered fish and chips... the fish batter was part raw (undercooked) and the chips were limp. Then came the cashing out experience... after explain to the cashier 3 times that I don't need drinks, I was charged for pop, and very rudely treated when I asked for the wrong charge to be reversed! Honestly, for $30, I'd dine elsewhere!

    James, the rude IKEA employee
    Patricia G.

What a disappointment, my last, and most recent visit to IKEA was at the Queensway location. I've been going there since opening and have always had positive experiences but this last time I had nothing but. While on the main floor trying to retrieve my items I could not find a representative, and so found James at the info booth. I asked him where I could find a someone to help me and he said sarcastically to me "on the floor", I told him I'd already looked around all the isles, and could not find anybody and I asked him again where I could find someone to help me, and he again sarcastically said "on the floor". He was so rude and unhelpful. I then went to look for someone up by the front cash, and was approached by a supervisor who offered her help. I told her what had happened but unfortunately, she did not really seem to care. We even passed James and I asked him his name so that I could call Customer Service and he said "nope!" After being passed to three different people I did get what I need but it was definitely not fun.

    Swedish Meatballs
    Kavi R.

FOOD: LUNCH = 8/10. We ordered the following: 1. Swedish meatballs. Cannot go wrong with this dish. 8 meatballs, scoop of mashed potatoes, vegetables & cranberry sauce. 2. Fish & Chips. Also another great lunch dish. Can opt the fries for vegetables if you want a healthier option. Comes with a packet of tartar sauce. 3. Daim Cake: Delicious! If you have a sweet tooth, this is a must try! Layered cake with bits of daim chocolate bar, cream & topped with a layer of chocolate. 4. Butter chicken: 3/10. For someone who loves butter chicken this is a sad dish. Do not order. STORE = 9/10: Everything was organized with signs to help guide you through areas. Place is great to shop, chill & maybe even give you inspiration. The only downfall is .. when you go to get a piece of furniture & find out they're out of stock! Could be helpful if there was a sign saying "out of stock" on the furniture, etc.
