Tips: - Sign up for a free IKEA family pass. You can get a free hot tea or coffee when you visit the store. You earn a point for every $5 spent with it, which takes a lot of time to accumulate points to spend on something decent. - We found it tricky leaving the second floor of the Swedish restaurant and exiting the store. We had to go through the entire showroom to exit. A couple of friends and I have thought about shopping and eating at the restaurant of this IKEA store in Etobicoke. I don't visit IKEA often. If I do, the closest one to my home is west of Leslie Street, just south of Sheppard Avenue East. We all came here after work on Wednesday. I took Dixie Road down to The Queensway, and made a right turn to enter the parking lot. I found a parking spot fairly close to the entrance. I backed into it and then walked in. I was early. I used the washroom before my friends had arrived and again before I headed to my car to head home. The women's washroom has a hand sensor to open the door, which was highly convenient. I used the same stall both times. It was clean. I also liked that there was a small tray-like shelf that I used to put my two paid items in. The soap dispensers could be better. One didn't work. The other one foamed up too effectively! I waited for my friends to arrive. I sat on a chair in the lobby. Comfy! I was thrilled to see them when they had arrived. We took the elevator upstairs to start the showroom tour. I loved seeing products used in bedroom, kitchen, washroom, and home setups. We got lots of ideas! A few thoughts: - I love the plushies at this store. I need to go back and get the snowy owl. It also had the red heart with two arms that I already own. - I like the novelty lamps. Clouds. Owls. Pencils. Bears. I want them all! - The tea lights in packs of 100 are the best bang for your buck. - I have always liked the elderberry juice. There's also lingonberry and blueberry. I ended up getting the lingon juice and an owl lamp. One of my friends got a nice pitcher. The other comes to IKEA regularly, so she showed me the ropes and got a few items that she oddly doesn't own! You pay at the exit. They are self-serve kiosks with a handheld scanner at each one. I scanned my IKEA family pass. It was cool seeing my purchases in icon form online after the fact. I used the scanner on my two items. I then paid for my items with a credit card. I used a MasterCard. I was pleased to see that it accepts Discover, which is a card that I got when I lived in Minnesota and still have. There are two floors at the Swedish restaurant. The main floor has seating. It's the second floor where all good eats and drinks are. It was my first time dining in. I don't know why I haven't. My friend who pretty much lives at IKEA was great showing me the ropes. She got a cart with wheels that holds your trays of food. I got a tray with hej (Swedish for hey) on it. The dessert display showed up first. I got a raspberry tiered cake slice. Yummy! I got to the hot foods. I wanted the classic Swedish meatballs. As someone who has had authentic ones with lingonberry sauce in Karlskrona, Sweden (I work for a Swedish company and was on a business trip back then), I was excited to compare and contrast. The man behind the counter was super friendly. She got my plate full of peas, mashed potatoes, lingonberry sauce, Swedish meatballs, and gravy for me. I thanked him. I was so happy seeing these goodies. I didn't know that you pay for your drink first before you grab a glass and fill it up with whatever beverage you want. I am so glad that my friend was there to guide me. She also let me know that fountain drinks are unlimited. Yes to refills! I paid for my meal. I got my IKEA family pass barcode scanned again. I then paid with my credit card. We had rolled our shopping cart containing our purchases over to a table. Our other friend waited there as we got our food. I got back first, so he could get some food. I loved my Swedish meatballs meal. It took me back to Karlskrona. The meatballs were on the smaller side at IKEA, but everything tasted like what I had in Sweden. Yummy comfort food. I loved the generous sides that I got. I was happy with my mashed potatoes and peas. I could have used more lingonberry sauce. It's my favourite! I started off with a lingon drink. The glass was on the small side. I feel like a larger glass would have been better. Anyway, I filled my small glass up with ice and the lingon drink. So refreshing! I returned to try the cola without sugar. It's not as yummy as the Diet Coke or Pepsi version, but it was fine. I'd recommend adding a bit of the lemon drink to it. For my final beverage visit, I got the pear drink. OMG! It was delicious. I should drink pear-flavoured beverages more often. The downside dining after going through the showrooms is that there's no direct path to exit. So the location seems to be in need of some sprucing in general, but happy with the upgrades to the IKEA Family card benefits I have seen as of late, and the daily cafeteria once toves are positive. WEDNESDAYs in particular you can get one kids meal free with the purchase of an adult meal. They have a relatively new menu that includes nachos with the signature meatballs and chicken meatball butter chicken with rice yogurt and naan. The store is well-organized, and the showroom is organized based on their function and you can find beds, office furniture, sofa, mattresses, organizers, media unit, chest and dresser, etc. Very easily. First, let's applaud IKEA for advertising so many plant-based food options in their cafe. Then, let's acknowledge that the only plant-based food option available on this Monday afternoon was a very ho-hum hot dog. The $3 for 2 vegan hot dogs and one Nordic water is a great price - and that's all it's worth. All out of everything else. No lingonberry drink. No pop. No soft serve. And certainly no plant balls (which are available to take home from the freezer case down the hall, and are excellent!) My partner said the lingonberry dairy soft serve was quite good. There seems to have been a change in management or ownership a few years ago, and the store has deteriorated greatly since then. Fruit drinks are overly watered down, no tape and sometimes no paper provided at the customer wrapping table (which has shrunk to about one tenth of its previous size, indicating no sincere interest in customers after the money has been paid. Parking is a bitch, sort of like wonderland except they've completely closed off underground parking and they lead you a certain way in the parking lot, which is very squished. Just like pre-covid, none of these people can drive and it's really easy to get into an accident around there, so be very careful. When you get to the door, there is security to ensure you have a mask or face covering on. Once you get up the escalator, you can see there are precautions like at help desks, staff have plexiglass, masks and there are signs stopping people from taking shortcuts due to COVID. Once you get to the famous IKEA restaurant, you will find that it is completely closed down due to COVID. However, there are people eating there. How? Peek behind the curtain and you'll find that they're serving IKEA staff only. We didn't know about this and were starving, so I told my girlfriend the food court downstairs is probably open (with hot dogs and whatnot). We get to the end, where we ask a staff member if the tiny restaurant is open. They said it's closed down due to COVID. I find this weird because their restaurant has plexiglass all over it but is NOT being used. Very ... interesting. I would've preferred to go to an actual cashier, however, we were directed to self checkout. There was no option to switch or anything which I found quite odd. Maybe they should ask if someone is comfortable with self checkout before directing them there. Everything seems to be sanitized but I'm quite a germaphobe especially during COVID and instead of self checkouts like at the grocery store where you scan your item over the scanner, they actually have guns you have to hold and press in order to scan an item. We go as a family for lunch sometimes to Ikea. The restaurant upstairs is very convenient, you can pick and choose what you want to eat. They have a variety of foods, like meatballs with mashed potatoes with cranberry sauce. Salmon, fish and chips, pasta, soup. It's fun to eat and look around for ideas for the house. This review is solely for IKEA's restaurant here. I don't feel like creating a new listing for it seeing that, as populous as the GTA is, no one else has. This is a weird situation for me. Normally, IKEA stores get 3s and their restaurants get 4s. I haven't bought more than 10 to 20 items from an IKEA store in my life. However, I tend to like their restaurants, more so for their airiness, economy, and efficiency than for food and drink that's memorable. And, if I see one from a freeway, I'll file it away in my head as a food option wherever I may be. Here, the restaurant and the service were just fine, the place's layout and vibe aren't as upbeat as others I've been in, and the food was just okay. I had breakfast here and, while the food tastes and looks like IKEA restaurant food anywhere, the configuration of the platters was different from what I'm used to on this side of the border. I did like that I was able to add vegetable medallions to my platter. I'll eat those at any meal. This IKEA is in Etobicoke, which is basically sandwiched in between Toronto and massive Mississauga. I guess it's considered a nice area and, for an IKEA store to go into a particular market, it seemingly has to have people who are schooled, progressive, and cheap at the same time. That's why you don't see IKEA stores in run-down areas. That said, you can't miss this IKEA since it fronts the QEW. And, since you've seen it, you know that you have to get off this lakefront expressway and negotiate the not so easy on-and-off to get to and from the store. Additionally, the parking lot doesn't breathe quite as well as those in many American locations but, evidently, they've stashed some parking under the store itself. I find this to be my go-to IKEA. Let's dissect the why. For starters, the location always feels a bit against-traffic for me. For finishers, I've never had a bad experience! IKEA is quite a dependable brand and with each move I've endured in my many years in Toronto, I feel like each one isn't complete without a jaunt to this exact location. The food. Always good. Always there are the expected favourites like meatballs, but also some yummy daily soup specials with the kind of garlic bread that tastes exactly like what you would expect garlic bread to taste like. I have always been craving for IKEA meatballs and every time I go there I get their meatballs! This time I go, I wanted to try something a little bit different. What a disappointment, my last, and most recent visit to IKEA was at the Queensway location. I've been going there since opening and have always had positive experiences but this last time I had nothing but. While on the main floor trying to retrieve my items I could not find a representative, and so found James at the info booth. I asked him where I could find a someone to help me and he said sarcastically to me "on the floor", I told him I'd already looked around all the isles, and could not find anybody and I asked him again where I could find someone to help me, and he again sarcastically said "on the floor". He was so rude and unhelpful. I then went to look for someone up by the front cash, and was approached by a supervisor who offered her help. I told her what had happened but unfortunately, she did not really seem to care. We even passed James and I asked him his name so that I could call Customer Service and he said "nope!" I don't know how to begin articulating what a nightmare planning and installing our Ikea kitchen with this Ikea location has been. Everything that could possibly go wrong from Ikea's end went wrong - over and over and over. First, the measuring service we paid for didn't take into account the location of our appliances and kitchen plumbing. Even though we paid for the service, we ended up having to measure it ourselves, otherwise any plan we built in store would not leave adequate room for our sink's plumbing. Instead, we were told we could "extend" the plumbing by paying a contractor. (Which would obviously cost more, and which we had no intention of doing.) Next, Ikea made multiple plans for our kitchen, and e-mailed us the incorrect one. We were on the phone and on hold with Ikea for hours, and it seemed like no one in their Kitchen planning department could find the right design, or any record of it. We finally managed to locate the right one after several days and many hours on hold with various people, but of course, it now meant the installation quote was wrong. It ended up costing more than we'd anticipated. Fine. At least we were finally going to get our cabinets and look forward to the installation, right? WRONG. Ikea attempted delivery 8+ times over the course of two+ weeks and each time, they got the address wrong. We called repeatedly to have them correct it and were told that either a) they have corrected it and it would definitely arrive during the next delivery window (it didn't) or b) we had to call the third party delivery company to confirm the address. When we called the delivery company, they told us to call Ikea. It was a game of hot potato and no one wanted to take ownership of the issue. They ended up delivering thousands of dollars worth of cabinets onto a random lady's porch in Hamilton (2 cities over). We only found out because our contact info was on the boxes and she called to tell us. Imagine if she hadn't! We'd never have known where our delivery disappeared to! Beyond unacceptable. We had to call the delivery company to inform them of the mess-up, and arrange for them to pick up the delivery from this poor woman's porch. This resulted in even more hours on hold, and time wasted speaking to uninformed customer service reps. I wish I could say this was the end, but it's not. It still took 3 delivery attempts before we got our mis-delivered cabinets, and many of them were damaged by the time they arrived. We had to haul them back to exchange them, on our own time. We also went through each line item on the order to make sure nothing was missing and sure enough, parts were missing. Thank goodness we did this and caught the mistake before the installation happened, but it shouldn't be on the customer to triple check Ikea's work. During the installation, we found out that the hood vent above the stove wasn't part of the install so, there go another couple of 100s of dollars for that addition. We also find out that we have to wait a few weeks to confirm the countertop installation, so for almost a month, our kitchen is unusable. Finally, the day comes when our countertop is suppose to be installed and we find out that the measurements didn't account for everything, and there was an invoice adjustment. We have to pay more - AGAIN. On top of that, we cannot pay via credit card link. We have to print out the adjustment and go in person to pay at an Ikea. It's 2023... but I can't pay by credit card?? I need to go in store? What's more, when we were in store and wanted to pay there, we were told we had to pay online. So which is it? (This happened repeatedly, at many stages of paying for various parts of the kitchen. It seemed like no one knew the right way to pay). We were also in limbo now and were told that even if we were to pay in store same day, there is no guarantee that our installation will happen the following day, as in store payment still take 2-3 days to process. I'm just at a loss for words. I feel like it requires an advanced background in project management to try to stay ahead of every screw up that Ikea has caused over these last several months. And it has been months. I feel like we deserve a credit for the hours we spent on hold, number of times we had to go back to the store (when we have limited access to a car), and general stress of feeling like this horror will never end. If you're considering an Ikea kitchen, save yourself the trouble. Unless you're also in the market for a stress-induced receding hairline and a permanent eye twitch, it is not worth it. read more

I love this place it truly makes me more multicultural. First the food (oh god the food), it is impeccable. I love eating here with my friends and pals. The trays are awesome and I love putting food on there. But what food do I love putting on my tray?Well a variety. My favourite meal is the fish and chips, it is so fishy and chippy. And the tar tar sauce (delicious). I also love getting garlic bread that I get off this beautiful container for everyone to enjoy. Disclaimer: I love a lot of the merchandise and food in IKEA but HATE going to their stores to shop! You see, I have arthritis in my spine & knees & it's absolutely exhausting to walk in endless concentric circles through the deliberate maze that is the 2 floors of their furniture and furnishings showroom. IKEA insists on dragging you past every one of their departments before they let you out alive to encourage you to impulse buy at every juncture. To an able bodied young person or couples with young kids in tow, this may seem like a good and viable strategy and they may even enjoy the exercise of walking. But for a physically disabled or frail elderly customer, IKEA's layout and impulse buyers' maze design is nothing short of excruciatingly painful torture with not nearly enough rest stopping points! "Mum?" My daughter said to me on this occasion, when I was shopping for a new queen size mattress, "Did you know IKEA has scooters and push wheelchairs?" "No, I didn't. Where are they located?" I considered briefly whether I want to get a scooter next time and thus be physically separated from my daughter and husband when shopping. Then I thought about making my daughter push me in a wheelchair and shuddered at the potential indignity of admitting I just can't walk round IKEA anymore. ;_; If I can still walk, I wanna walk, dammit. IKEA, though, with a little effort, you could make it easier for your disabled and older customers like me. I have some general suggestions and some suggestions specifically intended for the 2 floor layout you use at your Etobicoke location: YOU NEED MORE AND BETTER SIGNAGE EVERYWHERE. I cannot stress this enough! You should have signs in every single department WITH ARROWS directing everyone to the elevators for those like me who have trouble with stairs, for strollers & for wheelchairs & scooters. Lounge Areas: every store of the vast size IKEA is, needs a rest area on every floor in a quiet tucked away nook or corner with couches and armchairs, greenery, drinking water fountains and nearby washrooms, and maybe some mirrors and framed artwork. The best example I've ever seen of this is in a quiet nook of the downtown Toronto Reference Library where they have a green growing wall garden fed by water next to couches and armchairs. It's small yet spacious. You don't have to follow their model but you desperately need a lounge area of some kind on your second floor, well away from the noisy stressful cafeteria. Make your furniture pickup/delivery friendlier to people with accessibility issues. Have more staff available to help people load purchases into their cars and ensure your delivery procedures accommodate disabled & frail elderly/seniors. You guys refused to remove/recycle my old mattress unless I physically hauled the old queen size mattress into a big plastic bag "for sanitary reasons." I don't have a friend or neighbour to help me move my old mattress into the bag. IKEA's delivery policies discriminate against disabled people! read more

We always come to this IKEA to buy our furniture and other small house items and we are always satisfied. For the price the quality of items is pretty decent. The costumer service is always good. Today we spent 3 hours designing our kitchen there and a very friendly and knowledgeable employee Ira helped us out. We are more then happy and pleased! The food is really average. We have tried fish and chips which are my go to when I am there. The meatballs always taste processed and the chicken is very bland. The dessert cakes are frozen and I would give them 3 out of 5 stars. If you go to this place on weekends then good luck with the rush. If you have time during weekday evenings it's always empty and you have enough room to walk around and shop comfortably without bumping into people. read more
