Where do i start to express the frustration over iKEA. This isn't for YELPERS to read(since its so freakin long), its for iKEA and it's management to read. i recently had a kitchen designed and built by ikea in their Miami location. The day of the installation, the installer (a very professional company named Traemend) realized that the front doors and top panel in front of the sink were incorrectly ordered by iKEA. What i had was a "Farmers sink" and required another type of doors. The semi-finished kitchen looked very nice except for this gaping hole where 2 doors and a panel were supposed to go. (lived with this gaping hole for 4 months) This is where the it all went to Hell. The installer informed iKEA of their error and they agreed to pay for the cost of going out and installing the correct doors once i returned the wrong ones and got the correct ones. Traemond & i called and emailed many times but not a single response to either one of us. i had to go into the store and filed a request to have iKEA send Traemond out to install the doors, i had newly exchanged. Went home thinking that was that and going in person was the only solution. Two months later after many calls and emails by myself and Traemond, no response from iKEA again. i go in the store a second time only to find out that no such report/request exists. What was i doing with the first associate 2 months prior for an hour and a half???!! i filled another formal report requesting an installation date. A month passed, no phone call, no email and response to any of the many emails and phone calls Traemond and i, once again have placed. i go in a 3rd time and express such frustration and utter disbelief that i am finally CC'd in a group email and finally get an email. On another note: i hadn't seen any brackets in any of the boxes, so i decide to purchase them on my own to install the doors with, just in case. What were they expecting to install them with? i also noticed the 2 doors were 18 inches wide each, yet the full length panel above them was 30inches. i changed it to a 36inch. Shouldn't they had known 18 plus 18 is 36?! just saying. FiNALLY, after 3 months, Traemond comes out and installs my new doors, they install my 36 inch wide panel using those BRACKETS, but there are no door handles for the doors. isn't it obvious the doors need handles??!! i go during lunch from work to buy 2 door handles nobody thought of ordering. i am told going to the department to order them would be quicker then to order them from Customer Service/returns, which is a few feet away from the merchandise warehouse where everything is kept. They inform me it would take 40 minutes to get me the handles, if i chose to order there. They apparently want to torture me further by making me walk through that ridiculous store layout (a rat-maze). i wait an hour and a half, inquiring twice, as to why the delay for 2 small door handles. An associate then informs me the UPC code used on my item has changed/expired and they have to re-order the part. i angrily tell them i don't expect to be kept waiting as if this was a brand new order. i do end up waiting 2 hours for 2 door handles, but was entertained by other customers going postal over their own gripes. One video i took shows a customer screaming and about to punch somebody. i don't have any complaints about the employees there. They are almost like STEPFORD-WiVES of RETAiL. They are nice, polite, articulate, courteous. iKEA is the problem. A black hole is where everything goes to once you leave their premises. You have to walk the entire store just to get a dish rag, or a little lamp, you don't get a bag to put the things you just spent money in their store in ... you have to buy the bag or juggle them to your car. i am even okay with these little Orwellian inconveniences, i am not ok with spending over $13,000 on a kitchen and then having to go into the store 4 times to get an answer or a "message received". Unfortunately, i owe iKEA $7000 still, so this is like an ugly divorce where you have kids. i have to still deal with iKEA for some time. There i feel better (but not about iKEA) read more

If you haven't been yet to this Ginormous everything for the inside of your home place you must be living under a rock, lol. Modern, scandanavian style and a super affordable place to get everything to furnish and decorate your home or apartment. You can renovate your kitchen with them as well as buy a bed and mattress and everything else needed! I love their style and prices so I was so excited when they finally expanded to Miami. Huge showroom and warehouse. They have very affordable delivery options too if you don't own a truck or are buying lots of things. I recently bought a bunch of things such as a sofa, tables, bedroom furniture, linens and lots of decor items for my home. Some of the stuff I got from the store and the rest I had delivered. Only down side is you have to assemble everything yourself or pay for task rabbit to do it for you. I became a pro builder after assembling all the things I bought. Hire me lol. Easy to follow picture directions, but he ready to invest the time to build. My advice: Lay out all the parts and peices according to the legend page, then start building. Also there is plenty of covered parking in a garage. Also check out the cafe and swedish market. Dine in or purchase to go. A must visit! read more

It was very a disappointing experience in the store today and when I attempted to contact their 800 number. I needed one (1) bathroom towel bar: FINTROP 22.5". None in stock. Asked a floor staff to assist me and it was as if he was doing me a favor, but did finally say that it was discontinued. I asked of there was away I could buy the wall model, and his answer was a definite NO. I attempted to deal with ordering it on line, infilled the order interface which kept telling me my zip code was wrong and then I waited 45 minutes for an operator whom never answered. As long as you do not need help from them it's great for cheap furniture, but IKEA is a great disappointment when you need to spend $ on their products and they do not care to assist you! I've only been to IKEA a few times but I really like the store. It has cool, modern items that are very reasonably priced. Yesterday I bought a shower curtain for $5 and a bath mat for $8. My daughter also bought some stuff for her dorm. At these prices, I can change the look of my bathroom frequently & I can throw out the shower curtain if it starts getting moldy. We ate breakfast at the restaurant. The big breakfast with eggs, crepes, 2 sausage links and potatoes was only $2. They also have a smaller breakfast without the crepes for $1. We joined the Family Member rewards program, spent over $100 in the store & got our money back for our food when we checked out! This place is awesome!! read more

First the positive. Came to Ikea for kitchen faucets. Their price is the lowest and the quality is really good. However, it all goes down hill from there. For starters you have to park on floors that are mislabeled. The first floor is called P2 and the second floor is P1. The. You have to either climb stairs for three floors or take an elevator. Then you have to take an escalator. Then you have to circle the entire store to get to the kitchen department. After you select the faucet, one which was not even on display, you make your first line. I purchased two different model faucets. So first I have to go back to the first floor and circle the store again to look for the first faucet in their bins of inventory. Then I have to make a second line to pay for the two different faucets. Bit wait it doesn't end there. Then I have to go to the merchandise pick up area and make a third line to wait for the second faucet. The clock now says I have to wait a whopping 30 minutes for the second faucet. After 45 minutes waiting my faucet has not been selected. This has to be the most horrific shopping experience. If I want to cancel the purchase I would have to make a fourth line. This is the last time I buy from this Archaic shopping system of a store. read more

I've never bought anything from Ikea, but this time decided to give them a chance with a walk-in closet. It was the worst decision ever. I would like to rate the quality or the design but unfortunately after almost a month from my order I still didn't have the chance to see what it supposed to be delivered two weeks ago. After days of disappointing phone calls with customer service today was finally the day of the final delivery and guess what? I received a text message in the morning stating that the order was going to be delivered today from 9am to 9pm. At 2:45 I received another text with a confirmation that everything was delivered. Today I was planning to buy a kitchen, so I went to see the help desk in the kitchen area, there were several ladies from ikea and no clients at all, they never offered any help, I was no even able to create an account, I asked for help and one of the ladies (her name Amanda) simply say you need to do it from home, and turn around....well I was planning to spend $30,000 in cabinets and appliances, so now I talked to my installer and go his route. Just moved so finally had an excuse to make a requisite IKEA trip! After frequenting the Sunrise location for so long I'm happy one opened a little closer to home. Going to IKEA can be as quick or long as you want it to be. Personally, I like to make sure that I am in the right state of mind before stepping foot in here. Usually that means caffeinated and ready to walk! Like all IKEAs, this one is laid out in a manner that requires you walk through every department before making your way to the exit. Yes, you'll end up with things you never intended on buying in the first place; however, without fail, I'm always shocked by how much everything costs at the end. It always seems like it should be way more. That's a great feeling. When planning a day for IKEA, you probably need to factor in a couple of hours after your shopping trip for assembly. They definitely make things compact for transportation from the store but that means lots of odds and ends you're going to have to put together yourself. PRO TIP: Pizza and beer during assembly helps lessen the blow. Oh yeah! Don't forget to treat yourself on the way out with a warm cinnamon roll, ice cream or hot dog. You deserve it. read more

Came for the Grand Opening on Aug 27th, 14! My sister, and friend Andy decided to camp out the night before the opening to try and get the free sofa but we were #81-83 and were able to get a pretty cool Armchair since we weren't the first 39. I ain't mad! So far as customer service goes it's completely outstanding! They kept giant coolers filled with water bottles + ice at various spots for us campers to hydrate. Lots of security were around, and people checking in on us constantly. Outside portable potties ended up getting flooded and were out of service so they allowed us to go upstairs and use the employees actual facilities. LITERALLY BY 6AM there was a huge party for all of us in line, a stage with a live stage and lots of giveaways in the duration of anticipating the door opening. In comparison to the Sunrise IKEA, I really really like the layout of this IKEA much better. More spacious, lots of loading zones inside and outside the garage and lots of parking. The inside is pretty much exactly the same -- as with all IKEAs I'm assuming. Everyone was super helpful and even though it was opening day they took so many measures to ensure safety, crowd control, but most importantly that everyone was happy and having fun! Kudos, IKEA! FINALLY, an Ikea in the 305! Big caveat before I begin my review... I have only been here during the week. This location is set up like all other Ikea locations, so wear comfortable walking shoes! I suggest you stop at the cafe first to fuel up on reasonably priced and delicious food before you begin your adventure. BTW, this location is one that has the vegetarian Swedish meatballs! So, not much else to say as my experience here has been exactly the same as at other Ikeas. The prices are reasonable, the quality is OK, the design is fantastic and the employees are actually pretty helpful! As others did, I waited for several months after this store was in operation before coming here, as I remember what a mad house the Ikea in Sunrise was for some time after it'd opened. A friend and I came here at around 4 on a Sunday afternoon. We'd been shopping at the adjacent Dolphin Mall and were hoping to simply follow Dolphin's perimeter road around and enter the garage at Ikea from there, but that's not how its laid out. As a result, and rather than get stuck in the long line to park at Ikea, we simply parked at Dolphin near Bass Pro Shops and walked a few paces to this store. This Ikea location seems smaller than the one at Sunrise, but the concept and layout are similar...You enter the store and take an escalator or elevator up to the main sales floor and showroom, and if you follow the bare concrete pathway that's got indicator lights shining on it to show the direction you should walk in, you'll be taken through the entire store and see all the products and displays they offer. If you get caught up behind slow-ass families who are meandering through or just want to bypass bits of the store if you know which particular section you're heading to, there are doors built into the walls of the various displays that will allow you to pass through and move on faster....But what's the fun in that? The displays are great for getting design and decorating ideas IMO, and the prices are clearly marked. As others have stated, some items are reasonably priced considering the quality, other items aren't such a bargain. The beauty of most of the furnishings and décor from this company is that most of it's inexpensive enough that you don't mind donating or selling them for less than what you paid when it's time to redecorate. Ikea also offers a few other niceties such as an ample parking garage (we opted not to use it), and a kids area for the little ones if you don't wish to have them clinging to you or stomping around impatiently while you shop. They also have a full cafeteria, which most people visit for their famous Swedish meatballs with lingonberry sauce. In addition, just after the cash registers downstairs, they also have a smaller concession area where they sell pizza, hot dogs, soft drinks, cinnamon rolls, ice cream cones (actually frozen yogurt), etc. On the day we were here, we'd been shopping all day and were a bit hungry, so we each got a hot dog, fountain drink, froyo cone and a bag of chips and I think our combined total for that food was $5.50. read more

Today, once again, I went to return some bedframe made in Bielorrusia that had broken again. I didn't have my receipt but I thought oh well if I get a store credit I will use it to buy coffee and cookies for my girls. Here are reasons to go to IKEA: you need a new sofa bed for a guest, you are redecorating your space and have no idea where to start, you need .96¢ champagne glasses, your favorite recliner broke and need a new one, or you basically don't need anything, but love to eat their food! The entrance has friendly employees ready to help guide you to where you need to go. The beginning of the IKEA labyrinth is an area that showcases different looks that go with the seasons. Right now, since we are in late summer, they have displays for back to school items. I saw some really cool ideas for college students dorm spaces. Then the maze begins. There are rooms created and carefully detailed for every decorating purpose. Kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, children's rooms, adult bedrooms, office spaces, and even outdoor areas. There are plenty of workers walking around, so if you're confused or have questions, they are ready to help. The showroom items are not ones you can grab and take with you. If you like something, make sure to remember it, snap a picture, or take down the name so you can pick it up when you hit the marketplace area. If you want to revamp a room in your house but are unsure what to do, no problem! IKEA has consultants that go to your place, measure, and help you design your space. I thought this was really useful for indecisive people like me! If you buy furniture, but aren't quite handy, for a fee, IKEA will deliver your items and build them for you. How awesome is that?! When you need to take a quick break because your tummy is rumbling, just head on upstairs to their ridiculously large eating area. The space seats approximately 600 people, and is the 2nd largest IKEA restaurants in the US. Most of the products are Swedish...but don't be scared. They are VERY TASTY! I had the pleasure of trying their breakfast items and I highly recomend: their fluffy scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, waffles, and crepes! Other menu items include a perfectly cooked salmon with a pickled cucumber salad, smoked salmon with fresh dill, and an interesting mixed fruit salad. Yay Ikea has finally made its way to the 305! Came in on a Friday early afternoon with the mom and sis. Parking was a breeze and it was fairly empty inside. We started at the cafeteria for lunch. We split the salmon and the sweedish meatballs and washed it down with some linden berry soda. Everything was organized and nicely set up, especially in the downstairs market place. We picked up some good deals and made our way out. We spent a nice afternoon there and it was raining when we left. Guess what? We didn't get wet thanks to covered parking. :) read more

Left with several things, for the cost of $50.00. Too many people bumping and kids running around. Not my cup of tea, I get anxious every time I go. There was a massive line at the food area, only because, if you spend over a $100 dollars, you eat for free. So...that is self explanatory, cannot beat a saving. They surprisingly had a clearance section. That was cool. And waiting on line was fast. No complaints, aside for the parking, which was confusing. Why? Because you had the Sweetwater Police steering people towards the Dolphin Mall & then some into the Ikea parking lot. Once I was done shopping, a security gaurd in the parking lot states: "If you are an Ikea Customer & are parking in the Dolphin Mall Parking Lot, your car will be towed." There's always tons of parking, and great selection of furniture and storage to fit every different style preference and size space. I came by with friends and we left two hours later lol...we all left with what we needed and of course stopped by the snack and coffee station. The reviews are true, folks. This ikea is pure incompetence. I ordered some items online (and it came from this store according to Ikea). They put the wrong item in the box. I mean, completely wrong items. Took three weeks to get what I wanted. I did this to avoid going to the store based on reviews, but looks like we're just shit out of luck in Miami. This says more about stores in Miami and customer service down here in general. born and raised here, but reminds me why I can't last more than a year down here. Shame. Terrible customer service, especially in the order pick up and returns area. Apparently they changed their return policy recently and they wouldn't take a return of a fully wrapped new picture frame I was gifted. But the Ikea in store app still showed the return without receipt option. But they do receive used pillows without the packaging and used towels. ?? The manager Esteban or Ernesto was super rude. It took him 30 minutes to finally show up and didn't even apologize. I was also picking up some items I bought online and I they were not ready at the time scheduled. You should also apologize for the horrible customer service I suffered in reporting and trying to correct the delivery of damaged goods. Never have I been so frustrated simply trying to return a damaged item to a merchant with whom I have done business. I was on the telephone and or wasting time on your web site for almost 3 hours this past Saturday figuratively incarcerated in a combination of (1) your version of voice mail jail and (2) holding waiting to be transferred to the appropriate dept and (3) drafting returned undeliverable emails...all for simply trying to accomplish the return of a damaged item, an item which was a small part of an entire bedroom purchased by my wife from IKEA on line (ecommerce). Calling the closest store (117th st) was impossible as your web site doesn't publish the store telephone numbers. I guess you don't want your workers to be bothered by phone calls for any reason. I am familiar with that kind of regimen - for many years I worked in a large bank that practiced the same kind of sequestering of branch staff to a lesser degree (but even we permitted calls to branches). It may be your corporate policy, but I can assure you that it doesn't give your customers a warm fuzzy feeling dealing with that kind of restrictive corporate mentality. The email functionality on your website is broken. After spending over 2 hours on the phone, twice I drafted complaints about the telephone hold time only to receive a message that something went wrong sending the email. Result: I wasted more time drafting the emails that never could be sent. I successfully shot off a f* you email at that point. Ultimately, I was told I would be sent a packing slip from Fed Ex to return the damaged item and that a replacement would be shipped;however, that required me to have a printer to print out the packing slip. I don't have a printer and do not believe you should expect me to have one readily available. I was asked to hold while your rep explored the alternatives to that. I was then offered a credit of $15 for me to shlep the item to the closest store (117th st). An Uber costs about $25 one way. That was not acceptable so I settled for the Fed Ex packing slip. I have yet to receive the Fed Ex packing slip. And now you seem to have forgotten that you promised to send one! I vowed I would never allow the Mrs to buy anything from IKEA again, however, she was determined to visit an IKEA showroom so she Ubered it over there. While she was in your store returning the damaged item and obtaining a replacement, she purchased a couple of hundred bucks of other stuff - she liked the place. We need to buy a new living room and the wife is interested in buying it from IKEA, but I have drawn a line in the sand. No more IKEA until I am assured that I will not have a problem with customer service or returns. If I receive a non-perfunctory apology from a senior person in customer service I will permit further purchases. That apology ought to include a telephone number of the 117th st store so I can call directly if there is another problem with a future purchase.
