We were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary, and we wanted something romantic and central. All other hotels looked dinky and small, while Villa Magnolia looked spacious and lush. We were NOT disappointed. When we first pulled up in the taxi we were nervous because it's sort of tucked away and you think it's in the middle of nowhere, but once you get the lay of the land it's clear that you are about a 10-20 minute walk from the Vatican and Trastevere (highly recommend this area for shopping and eating). Sante greeted us and explained everything we needed to know, and all the women who we met who work there were kind and welcoming. Their espresso is to die for-it's amazing! The rooms are beautiful and spacious and you have your own entrance and key to get in the gate. We didn't make it for breakfast each day, but the staff was happy to bring us some espresso and pastries to our room when we woke up and asked. They gladly called taxis for us, provided recommendations, and cleaned our room each day. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Rome! We went to Amsterdam afterwards and realized we had been spoiled with the large room size at Villa Magnolia! Room Tip: We had Room #2 which was the closest to the lobby and front entrance.

We were very happy here!…read more There are four modern rooms with a common kitchen area in a traditional Italian building and we enjoyed these different aspects to Inn Urbe Colosseo. It's near the Cavour Metro station, close to great restaurants, and not far from the Colosseum, which is exciting to see down a side street. I especially loved the pastries and fruit juice at breakfast, though it would have been nice if they had soy milk to go with the breakfast cereal (I had to buy my own). The proprietor was lovely, but she didn't speak any English.

The rooms are state of the art, decorated in a modern style. The bathroom is spacious as is the shower, finally a shower with room to move in. Beautiful tile abounds. Refrigerator is in the cabinet. This place treated us well during our 3 days in Roma. Tucked away in a residential neighborhood, it was a little off the beaten path, but close to metro and the River Tiber. I felt safe walking anytime of the day or night, and actually took quite a few night strolls. If you like walking, it's about a 10 minute walk to Castel Sant' Angelo and about a 30 minute walk to Vatican City. There were 3 of us so we had a room with a double bed and a bunk bed. I can't remember the exact theme (each room features a comic theme), but it was black & red. It was a spacious room and the bathroom was huge! Everything was clean and I was very comfortable. We didn't spend a lot of time indoors so I don't remember much about amenities, other than the free breakfast and free wifi. I loved the large figurines of Iron Man and Superman. Take a look at their website to see the awesome themes available. I emailed them to make my reservations. It's classified as a hostel on some sites, but don't let that scare you (and stop watching scary movies!). It's an awesome guesthouse!

The breakfast in the morning was sweetly prepared and presented. We'd consider using this option again if flying out of FCO to avoid waking up at the crack of dawn in Rome.
