Great location; Metro is right outside! Easy to get to all the usual tourist spots. The front desk people are incredibly friendly, and there is a cafe right next door and a cappuccino machine in the lobby. If you like working out, they also have a nice gym.

I stayed here for 4 nights during a recent October 2014 trip. The ambiance here was pretty good, as it felt like an apartment within an apartment. I must admit that I should have emailed my itinerary to the Bells of Rome owner prior to arrival, since I had some problems checking in and had to wait a few hours. Found out that the call box at the entrance was broken, so I had to flag down someone who spoke English at a nearby restaurant and have them call the bells of Rome owner to come and get me. Whoops. It was a lesson of what to do for next time - definitely! The overall experience here was interesting. Bed & Breakfast establishments are normally in private residences, so this one seemed to be so, but I don't think that the owner lived on the property. I didn't ask though. I chose this property because it was in the city center and about 5km from the Termini and it was cheap! It was about €80.00 a night! The neighborhood around the Bells of Rome is part urban and part residential. It's safe enough and walking distance to many of Rome's classic and traditional sights, although you may want to take the train, as the bus is crowded! The Bells of Rome is located on Via Costa 62, about 2 blocks from the Metro stop Red di Roma, where I would take the train to the Termini and do the sightseeing bus tours. Street parking is available, if you do drive or a private parking garage. Inquire when you arrive. Bells of Rome accepts major credit cards, so that's always a plus, especially when traveling overseas. :) The Bells of Rome owner is nice and approachable. The doors use metal keys and not the usual magnetic plastic keys we all know and love. Yes, this Bed and Breakfast property is a definite mixture of hotel and a private residence. My stay here was good and happy to recommend this property for anyone who's wanting to travel to Rome for the first time or even their 10th time. The hospitality is good and while the breakfast was given - a croissant - was adequate enough, best bet would be to get a real breakfast after having that. The room itself you could say mirrored someone else's bedroom back home - like a slice of homespun in Rome. The wifi was really good, but you'd have to ask for the password. The bed was not too comfortable, but had gotten consistent 7 hours of sleep during my stay here. There was a TV in the room, but it was a small sized one that looked like a small computer screen. Extremely loud slamming of doors all hours. Can hear the toilet flushing all night. Worst of all, the AC only blew room temperature air, no matter how cool you set it. Don't book a private room unless you want a full hostel experience. One positive is the bed was made and towels folded. My partner and I paid 140 euros for a room with no soap and no AC. 140 euros. I arrived early, and the front desk was able to accommodate me by finding a clean room that was ready, which I appreciated. However, once I got to the room, my key card didn't work, so I had to bring all my bags back down to the lobby, where they ended up giving me a physical key instead. The first room was small but adequate until later that evening when I realized the A/C wasn't working. The only window was located high near the ceiling, and when I called the front desk, I was simply told to "open the window since it's the cool season." The room temperature hit around 25°C and was extremely warm, and I told them I couldn't stay in those conditions. At first they said no other rooms were available and that the entire hotel had the A/C turned off. I contacted my booking agency and was ready to check out and find another hotel, but suddenly a room appeared. They moved me to a second room with a balcony that could be opened, and they also sent up a fan, which helped. Interestingly, I visited a few surrounding hotels in the same square out of curiosity, and they all had their A/C systems running, so the explanation didn't fully add up. The pros: The location is absolutely unbeatable! right in the heart of Rome. The breakfast on the rooftop terrace overlooking the city was wonderful and definitely a highlight. Overall, I wouldn't consider this a true 4-star hotel based on the room quality and service issues, but the location and breakfast were excellent. With some improvements, it could be a great stay.

Our clothe s everything just smelled bad. The bed was the worst bed I've ever had. It's like sleeping on the floor they basically use trundle beds. It virtually impossible to sleep between the noise from the road and guests outside being loud. (Pretty sure a worker there) was outside on fire escape being extremely rude and loud . the night reception guy is incredibly rude and really shouldn't be dealing directly with guests! Bottom line Stay somewhere else you will regret booking here! We lost money because we just couldn't take it and had to book another hotel for our last night in Rome so we could sleep!

You can take the 85 bus straight to the Colosseum. Subway is about a 5 minute walk. Some spoke more English than others but they got the basics down where you can carry through a conversation. Two things that really stood out to me about this hotel was one, they provided nice, big umbrellas when it rained. And two, they loaned you a cell phone to use for FREE while staying with them! [ - ] I didn't like that they pushed two twin beds together to make a bigger bed. You can feel where they joined and it was uncomfortable. [ + ] They provided a hair dryer. [ - ] No clock or fridge. For the cold breakfast they had cereal, yogurt (must try!), cold cuts with cheese and fruits. Overall, our stay here at the Holiday Inn was good. We made the best out of it especially since we were on vacation. We've never had an issue with any of the workers. I would def come back again.
