This restaurant you may find after your fourth pilgrimage. However now u may be able to find it off the beaten track. Our hotel in the hillside which was going to be serving the Tuscany edible fantasy decided to close foe the evening. We were informed that there was only one restaurant that they ate in. So off we went on our travels in the dark, to find theis agriturismo restaurant. Agriturismo is specifically found in tuscany and refers to a way of life. Living, breeding, breathing and eating ones own food.Italian hippy, although in a fashionable way.
Anyhow the restaurant kindly opened early for us at 740. Being winter time it was full of their family and friends, with few tourists present, apart from ourselves. They were very welcoming though and gave us the menu. This consisted of five verbal courses for what I understood to be 25 euros each. There were 5 vegetarian appetisers consisting of carrot soufflé, a cheesy carrot soufflé, popolpettone - veg and potatoes with homemade mayo. Pasta fritta - a kind of non sweet savory donut with meat. Also forgot the bean and lard soup, just for starters.
Mains consisted of polenta with ambietta sauce, tagliatelle al chinielle, an interesting dish followed by wild dear. Which was probably a bit too much at this time, as we had also had a litre plus of homemade wine.
The bill shockingly came to 45 euros.
This was a delightful experience although maybe next time I will take a second stomach. It was certainly an interesting starter for Tuscan food and life.
Service was very friendly although mainly in Italian and an interesting picturesque large dining room with another naked picture. tuscans appear to like voyeurism during culinary affairs read more
