We went early, and on a Monday so seating was not an issue, the the tables that had reserved signs on them let us know this place fills up fast and it's not that big to begin with. It's a cool little space with a deli case right at the front so there is no hiding anything. Our two servers took great care of us, explained the menu and took our order. We both ordered the pasta carne with dirty pork and a red sauce. Tagliatelle was the pasta of the day, not sure if that changes or not. We also ordered house wine, red for me and white for the lovely K. The 1/8 litre 4 1/4 ounces for 3.5 euros wasn't expensive, but it also wasn't enough. You can order more (1/4 litre is 6 euros) which we would next time. The food came out hot and quickly and very nicely covered in Parmigiana Reggiano and was a good sized portion for 13.5 euros. Would we rave about it, probably not, but it was great!

I can tell you that Sto bene is the real deal!!! But first, we had to try the bruschetta with their homemade pesto sauce. Ah-mazing! Probably the best I've had. We also tried their red wine by the glass, and it was very, very good. When the carbonara came out, I couldn't wait to dig in. The crispy bits of bacon were tasty and the dish was seasoned perfectly. All in all, a fantastic meal. The only downside, no air conditioning and their pizza oven heats up the entire restaurant, not it's worth it!!!

The food was just spot on, along with friendly service. They took the time to explain the menu and didn't rush you along. The 1st - 2 evenings we just stuck with the pizza's and loved them all. I'd highly recommend anyone looking for good Italian food that tastes good and is filling to come try this place out. The definition of a neighborhood joint, with only four tables inside, and a few tables outside on the patio, this will rival Little Italy in any major city back in the US. Interior decor is disjointed, but somehow works with the homemade vibe. The chef/owner does it all -- from taking orders, to clearing tables, to prepping and cooking the dishes, to closing out the bill. This place should have been jammed with a wait, so we absolutely lucked out; and if you are in town, you will have to pay a visit. Pesto pasta, and Panini's, and pizzas are all a smash hit. We certainly did not expect this type of vintage Italian food here in Salzburg, but we might have as well have been in Naples. Cash only, so don't let that take you by surprise. While the pasta seemed like the kind you would find at the grocery store, I really enjoyed the dish as the carbonara was nice and creamy plus the pasta was topped with some fresh arugula. It was only two blocks away, so we strolled down to this tiny place. It's a one-man show with a very friendly guy taking our order, serving us food and drink, and presenting the check. Pizza is very thin, but absolutely delicious! My wife rarely finished a whole pizza in one sitting, but this one was just the right size and so tasty we couldn't leave any behind.
