The menu was structured so you could choose one, two or three courses. Most of us had 2 courses. There is a full bar as part of the hotel. Location is central to the buttlands which is main village square area.

Andrew arranged a one night stay for us here at The Crown...wow I wish it was a few more nights! He had contacted the hotel in advance in order to set up some special surprises for our anniversary. Kelly was the one who assisted him. We both worked in the hospitality industry and were extremely impressed by our entire experience. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff. They offered us homemade lemonade while we checked in. They escorted us upstairs to our room (#10 I think it was). We walked in and I was floored...they had arranged red and white long stemmed roses, paper hearts strew across the wall above the bed and the desk (paper for 1 year wedding anniversary! This was Kelly's idea when my husband called). There were fresh chocolates on a platter from a local chocolate maker that read "Happy Anniversary" and the lady who walked us to our room told us the champagne was on its way up! Also that we had dinner reservations at the restaurant and we could place our breakfast in bed order that evening as well. This was SO amazing. My husband did call ahead to arrange this but Kelly executed it flawlessly and we felt like a King and Queen! The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I had slept on in over 10 days and the room was fabulous. I couldn't have asked for more! The restaurant was also wonderful. The service was great and the food was amazing. The Crown is a perfect place for a romantic stay in a cozy town by the sea. Thank you Kelly and staff!!!

The hotel is ideally situated if you're a wedding guest, as it's five minutes by car or a 20 minute walk - so if you can't get a taxi at the end of the night you don't have to trek too far. They have 20 bedrooms - 10 within 'The Vic' itself and a further 10 in Ancient House, located directly opposite. The Vic has a large restaurant and bar, spacious conservatory, outside terraces and drawing room (where paying guests have sole access to complimentary whiskies, ports and rums!). It's almost completely dog-friendly here - there were about six in the restaurant alone! We ended up having dinner here on the Friday night and then breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday. All of the food was delicious and locally sourced. Their wine list was also really good, though expect to pay a premium here. The staff were all terrific and you were made to feel right at home. Our room ('Joe's Stop') was spotlessly clean, the beds were comfy and my huge walk-in shower in the en suite was a definite highlight! The hotel has seriously enviable views over the Holkham National Nature Reserve. It's also very close to Holkham Beach. The location is just superb in every way. Tip: Breakfasts are included in the room rates. Tip: Check in is after 3pm on the day of arrival. Check out is 11am or earlier on the day of departure.

It's a great place serving outstanding food. It's more than a gastro-pub, more of a restaurant with a bar area attached the style is unusual a sort of colonial British Raj effect but it's done well and works. It's not cheap but if you're looking to splurge it's great for an evening meal out. If all you're looking for is a pint and some top-quality bar food it's the place to head for too. It's right opposite the Lady Anne's road that leads down to the stunning Holkham beach too a great place to stop off after a walk in this truly beautiful area.

Harry and the people at The Feathers were extremely accommodating and helpful. We had a local friend check out the place and it came highly recommended. We contacted the hotel and restaurant by email and were able to work out all of the details. We had about 40 people in attendance for a sit-down dinner of traditional roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. We also had a band, which The Feathers also had no problem accommodating. The Feathers did not charge a room fee or hourly use fee; only food, drink, and some fresh flower centerpieces at reasonable prices.. They put down a small dance floor in front of the band at no additional charge too. On the morning of the reception the tables were beautifully set and they allowed us to come and place additional wedding favors down with no problem. They handled the placement and took extra care to set up our guest-book, cake, and gift tables with our wedding colors. We had an open bar, which served us all night. The Feathers really made our reception perfect. I can't thank them enough. May not be great for larger weddings, 75 and above, but great for us.

I've just returned home from a few days spent in the sleepy gem of a place that is Sheringham. For…read morethose of us who were actually alive the last time England won the World Cup (I was a mere few months old at the time but a fact I feel is important to stress!) the scenery and ambience of the town invokes a nostalgic quality of the type of countryside read about as kids - it's a Secret 7, Famous 5 style environment. You interact with close knit, polite and friendly townsfolk, view pretty cottages with their perfect gardens and pass twitchers, clutching their binoculars on their way to the marshes to view some lesser spotted variety of bird that are seen at this time of year. Hopefully I've set the scene here - it is quintessentially the most olde English town I have ever visited. However, it's not a place I would have chosen to frequent had it not been for my dear old mum, who moved to Sheringham 8 years ago for some sea air and stress free living. Having previously just spent day trips or the odd one night at mum's, I decided the time was right was a few days of rest and relaxation by the sea with my other half to chill away from the hustle and bustle of London. So, my search through various online sites began. To cut a long and arduous story short, after a few hours I thought we would be doomed to stay in some dreary B&B or spend a small fortune at some ancient hotel that looked like the setting for 'One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest' with the cast of 'Cocoon'! However, after spending what seemed like an ice age trawling the web, I found The Two Lifeboats. It looked good, was reasonable and right near the seafront, so I booked up. My mum seemed dubious at my choice after I'd informed her of where we would be spending our time, recalling a time she'd been there 6 years ago and never having gone there since. On the first night, we treated her to dinner here and she has been converted. First off the place was unrecognisable from her last visit. Next, the staff are lovely and helpful. The food is above average fayre and priced well - there are tables outside to view the spectacular sunsets (to compete with my fading memories of Ibiza in the 90's!) The room we stayed in was small but perfectly equipped and a great view of the sea. It's an old pub, so the stairs are quite narrow and steep so perhaps not best suited to all but for us, it was perfect. The breakfast is served in the pub area too and very delicious before our epic walks along the coast. For a nostalgic and welcome short break, I would highly recommend.
