My daughter's hair had become extremely tangled over the past couple of weeks, and she was in dire need of a haircut. I had advised her to wait until we arrived in Manila, where there are cheaper yet fancier salons. However, her tangled hair was driving her crazy, so we decided to call for an e-trike (I believe that's what they're called) from our hotel and asked the driver to take us to a place that offered haircuts.
The driver first took us to a barbershop, but my daughter felt uncomfortable because there were only men there. So, I instructed the driver to keep driving until we found a more suitable salon.
Fortunately, there was no wait, and the hairstylist was able to assist my daughter right away. I noticed that the place served as both a barbershop and a nail salon. Two men were getting haircuts while a woman was having her nails done. Once the hairstylist finished with my daughter, a woman at the counter charged me about 200 pesos, about 4 American dollars. Wow, just $4? Her haircut looked super cute! My daughter loved her new hairstyle! I was so pleased that I decided to tip the hairstylist 100%. It was such a great deal that we bought a bunch of snacks from the store next door. As we started walking toward the e-trike waiting area, we realized our hotel was only five minutes away. What an excellent find on the island of Boracay! read more
