The ladies who work here are kinda 50/50. In a many times I've come to Imagine they've ether been very lovely and great to talk with about all sorts of mediums! Other times they're... definitely not as friendly. I told them both on separate occasions that I do loads of mediums, mentioned digital and felt like I activated a sleeper agent. Both have gone off at me saying "that's not real art". Which is understandable and, please just say that rather than that AND a 30 minute rant on how younger generations are giving up on art because they don't see many kids in there. We're not, just being told our art isn't art. The cat is the best employee. 10/10, great greeter. While the quality of the supplies is good the price is difficult. Buy pencils from here and checked the brand store online and it was $15 cheaper. Which is understandable because it's located in PG, with other crazy prices and business expenses being what they are. If you are already friends with either of the clerks you'll probably have a much better time than I. read more

I feel like some of these reviews are expecting Amazon to be in a tiny local art shop - I would say for a local shop / shop of its size, the shop has a great selection of art supplies - lots of brushes, books, definitely more than one acrylic paint. The owner is very kind - I haven't personally asked her to order anything for me but supposedly she does. And there is a cat that wanders around the store. If you want to support your local business and get some supplies then this is the place for you. Don't expect Amazon inventory or prices. Also a small detail but the to go bags has handwritten designs on them which I thought was a nice touch. read more

They have a great selection of Daniel Smith watercolor paints, and a small but useful selection of watercolor brushes.

The selection is very small with very little in the way of variety; like only one tube of watercolor was on display. I'm going to stick with online shopping for my art supplies. read more

Carmel used to be the hub of art activity on the Monterey Peninsula, but when I moved back recently I was surprised to find the art scene had largely moved on. I was thrilled to find Imagine, located in Pacific Grove. They had everything I needed plus a few treats I hadn't realized I couldn't live without. Stopped by in late October with my wife to buy a pad of large drawing paper. Owner met us at the door, also had an equally large clipboard that made my wife's work easier. We did the transaction on the sidewalk, but it was very easy. I think this is the only art store on the Monterey Peninsula with a great set of art supplies. read more

Fabulous art supply store in the heart of PG! Germaine (I'm probably spelling that incorrectly) is just a doll and a pro at all your art supply questions. She has all your basic stuff from paints, pastels, charcoals, fine paper, tools and more specialized mediums. She is an excellent resource and guide to give you direction and focus in whatever your art endeavor is. She has amazing prices (better than your large corporate store) and she has a beautiful cat named Jordana who is the sweetest thing. The shop is clean, quaint and organized. I love this store! It is the only true art store in the area. While the supply is limited, they stock the best brands. It is also one of the only places in the area (unless you want to drive all the way to San Jose) to find open stock of Sakura Micron pens (various colors & sizes), Tombow pens (AND SETS OF THE COLORED PENCILS! This was a huge deal to me as not even big brand stores in San Jose carry them on site), Copics, Caran d'Ache (I bought colored pencils but they had open stock of other mediums from the brand as well) and I also saw Faber-Castell liners as well. After living in the area for almost a year now it was such a pain to not be able to pick up some of the most simple supplies without having to deal with the corporate craft store fatigue. Imagine is the perfect place for people who want to learn more about the products and for people who know exactly what they need. The owner is an amazing, friendly and fascinating woman. My fiancé and I visited this shop today. We had heard there was an art supply store in Pacific Grove but always had a hard time finding it. There was a wide variety of paints and painting supplies, ink and ink pens, spray paint, drawing supplies and more. Prices were fair. And the best part- they have 2 shop cats! read more

It is about time that the Monterey Peninsula got a ligit art supply store again. It is easy to find on Forest Ave in Pacific Grove. Although the store is pretty new, the owner has been in the biz a long time and has great relationships with all of the main vendors. You'll be amazed at the selection of quality art supplies that this little art store has on hand. It's a true art store (minus the crafts). In my career, I've been a watercolorist, pen and ink illustrator and draftsman. They carry nearly everything I need right here in the store. Me and my friend visited the store today just for fun and to look around and see everything they had to offer. We came in and we looked around and then was greeted by this employee named Nicole. She was literally the best employee I've ever had anywhere. We showed her what we liked and certain events that were happening in our lives and she brought us around and showed us the perfect selections they had to offer. We were so amazed. She showed us engagement rings, let us try them on and gave us a background on almost everything in the store. She tought us so many new things about rings and jewelry in general. Usually us as young adults, walking into a high end jewelry store we aren't taken seriously as if an older couple walking in. So the fact that she was giving us her full time and attention to answer all of our questions and to share her knowledge with us was amazing. Thank you so much again Nicole you were amazing!
