Went to Ruff's Burgers last night and was very impressed. The place itself is tiny seating for 10 at a push. Burger was excellent, big tasty and packed. I had the Chili Cheese Fries, the fries were great, the chili cheese part not so much. Not enough meat or jalepenos, too much beans and generally not a fan of cheese from a bottle, but overall they were OK. Burgers are on par with Burger House, but their fries are far better. Closed on a Sunday, but he did say maybe in the Summer they would open. I'd say my new favourite burger joint has been found. read more

The burger tasted good, but overall I wasn't too impressed with Ruff's. I would for sure not get the menu again because the fries were really not good. I rarely don't finish my French fries and these I left behind! They looked good at a glance, like nice steak fries, but then they tasted as if they had been fried once, set and then refried to heat up again when we ordered. Back to the burger, I ordered the cheeseburger and it came in a nice big bun, and was very juicy. I found the meat to be a bit on the small side, but I wouldn't really expect more for the price, so it was ok. However, maybe I didn't read close enough, but I'm not a fan of the "orange sauce / cocktail sauce" that Germans like to put on all meats and this burger had more of that than ketchup. Overall, if you're in the mood for a quick burger (they were quick), with outdoor seating in the shade, then for 4,90€ it's a good place to go. If you're looking for a complete meal, with good fries, then I would go somewhere else (after all, Burger places seem to be popping up by the dozens in Munich). read more

So, here's the thing - I love Ruff's, just not Ruff's Burgers. To clarify: the place is funky and conveniently-located, the servers are always friendly even when facing a long line of grumpy hipsters, and I love sitting outside and people watching. Their fries are hot and crispy, their free sauces are addictive, and their prices are fair; 10 EUR gets you a burger, fries & drink. The problem is the beef. My favorite burger is topped with guacamole & delectable bacon, and the fresh bun never disappoints. Unfortunately, the patty does every time. Despite requesting "medium rare", I always receive a charred, crusty, flavorless gray patty and basically eat around it because the rest of the ensemble is so fabulous. Lucky for Ruff's, I'm not hugely passionate about hamburger meat in general, and usually picking the layers apart and gorging myself on fries satisfies my hunger. My husband, on the other hand - something of a burger connoisseur - is decidedly less forgiving. So, a warning to the beef-lovers out there: Ruff's gets everything *else* right. This place wasn't very clean (I'd never sit inside here and eat - outside looked way better but was completely filled up) and the people weren't very nice, but both their burgers, the fries and the sauce were extremely delicious - and didn't cost much. Ruff's Burger is like most burger places: you order a burger and you order side dishes. It didn't take a long time before I got my food and it was very nicely packed up for take-away. I had a veggie burger made of vegetables (which almost tasted like a meat-burger!), a small french fries and mayonnaise - which I didn't have to pay for. Finally tried this burger place behind Münchener Freiheit last weekend. The good reviews and appetizing photos drew me right in. Like so many others in town, it's a self-served gourmet burger kinda place. The menu is relative small, they don't seem to have too many crazy toppings or anything like that. I ordered the double cheeseburger and got some bacon from the gf's avocado burger. And unlike some other reviewers, I asked for medium and the patties had some pink. But the burger didn't wow me, it was a decent sized beast with a fresh bun, but it needed more..flavor. The avocado burger tasted also flat. But the fries were crispy and the house dips were tasty. It had nice decor and at 6 euros for a single and 8 euros for a double, the price is more than reasonable for the city. All in all an okay place to get a burger and fries, will probably visit again. read more

Really decent burger, very authentic interpretation of the American food-truck style burger. That said, this isn't a style of burger that would keep me coming back for more. In fact, I probably won't go again. See, the whole point of a food truck is convenience. The food truck presents itself and its wares to a person when and where one is at one's most vulnerable and willing to eat almost anything, and either unable or unwilling to travel or to pay more money to eat in a restaurant. For example, I would eat buy food from a food truck on my way home from a bar, or if I have to work through lunch. I just don't understand why I should go to a restaurant and pay restaurant prices for food truck food. Also, it aggravates me to no end when I see burger cooks squeezing the life juice out of the patties on the grill. Just leave the goddamned thing alone! That doesn't make it cook any faster, and the sizzling sound is the shrieking of dying flavor being strangled out of its rightful place - IN my burger. Like I said, pretty authentic interpretation of the American food-truck style burger. But that doesn't tempt me back here when there are at least two better burger places in Munich that are worth the money and have a more comfortable dining room. read more

One of the best burger joints in town. Period. I've tried most of the rest of the places in Munich and Ruff's beats them all hands down. The reason is very simple: fresh and homemade ingredients. The burger patties, for example, are not frozen. You can tell because the meat has far more flavour than at most other places. What Ruff's also does well is that they keep their burgers simple. Because the amount of ingredients isn't excessive, it's very easy to eat them with your hands. What I really liked was that they also offer a weekly special in my case, it was the avocado burger. I van only recommend this place. Give it a shot next time you are in Munich. read more

When it comes to the K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Stupid) method of food delivery, Ruff's has hit the bullseye on the target. The menu gives you 6 burgers to choose from (one of those being a really yummy vegetarian burger) and you can only order either fries or chilli cheese fries. If you pair that with the fact this place is tiny (seats 5 or 6 comfortably, but maybe a few more if squeezed in), this wouldn't be the type of place that I would continue to return to. However, that does NOT apply in this case. This is --at the moment-- my favorite grab-n-go joint for a burger. The menu may not be the most creative ever, but the meat taste awesome and so does the bread....clearly fresh and prepared in house. I agree with others, the flavor is definitely on par with Burger House. The workers have always been super nice to me, regardless of how busy they are. I definitely like the service-oriented vibe here. As for location....I wish I could give it 6 stars. During the summer, you could easily take a burger to-go and chill in the English Garden. Basically any time of the year you could grab a great meal before going to the many bars around it. The last thing that has earned Ruff's a 5 star review from me, is it's consistency. If any American's are missing the taste of In-N-Out burgers I would definitely recommend this place. This isn't the best burger I have ever had but I think that is really a great rendition of the thin patty diner/greasy spoon burgers that make you feel at home. The buns are different shaped like huge muffins, round on top and muffin tin shaped on the bottom which at first makes it awkward to eat but smash it down a little and you are good to go. I had the double-cheeseburger and would come back when I am craving a taste of home. The fries are good but make sure you eat them while they are hot as Belgian fries are not so tasty when they cool down. Note, they do not have much sitting space inside, a few stools and a 2-person window seat that are bar stool height, not sit down height. The rest of the seating is outside I would not recommend going on a very cold or rainy day. The cashier was really nice and spoke English. The cooks use rubber gloves which gives an illusion of cleanliness but I can't vouch for actual cleanliness as I was in and out pretty quickly. The prices are a little more than I am used to spending for a burger and fries, in the US, but hey this place isn't in the US so I can't complain. But being that you can easily drop 10 Euro for a burger, fries and drink I think it will deter me from going every weekend which is probably best for my waistline anyway. read more

I've been to this restaurant over four times already. All I can say is you come to understand how good a restaurant is when you see how its staff work under pressure.
