I know kids should have fun, but this class was all about fun and games and had no real merit or value in terms of learning anything. I don't think Judo is good for kids, I noticed also with my friend who does judo that the practicioners get Cauliflower ears also, as there is lots of rubbing around the ears.

There was hardly any discipline there. students seemed to just talk and muck around. the head instructor was hardly taking the class. Its got a good location but apart from that, Value for money wise, it was a total waste of time and money. I think because it does have a good location they charge alot more. and because there are lots of students, there is no real discipline there....you dont really learn much there.

I would receive an SMS between the times of 6PM the night before to 1AM on the morning of my first training day with excuses like leaving the club keys with the cleaners; trying to get my son in a sleep pattern; Im at a fight and I am just leaving Wollongong now; and my newborn has an infection so I have to stay home with my daughter. When I was asked if I wanted to book for the fifth time for which would still be my first lesson, I replied saying no, I wanted someone reliable and who actually wanted to train me. I then received a nasty and sarcastic reply. I do NOT recommend anyone to try this club based on my experiences alone. I have no idea why I was treated this way. I really believe this staff member (who is also the club manager) had absolutely no intentions of training me and this was his way of pushing me away. I am left feeling like I have been discriminated against. I've been going to Wyllie for 4 years and in that time have made some amazing friends, the other students are the second thing you should consider and these guys are all just fantastic. The dojang itself is relatively well appointed, it's is a permanent training space so has more niceties then a converted hall. Tournament padded floors, plenty of kick bags, crash mats, kick shields and various other hurty looking things are all in easy reach. They've also recently started branching out a little, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on Saturday afternoon is highly recommended!

A friend & training partner of mine put me onto Taipan in Marrickville & this first week has been exceptional. The guys there know their stuff back to front, with many of the trainers having extensive international fighting experience. They run experienced & beginners classes at 5:30pm & 6:30pm Monday to Friday and what a session it is, I have never sweat so much in my life. The guys there are very technical, picking up on small areas I could improve on almost instantly. They run a very thorough session combining skipping, shadow sparring, pad work, sparring, clinch work & conditioning all within an hour session. The gym is a brilliant a size, equipped with a full ring, 6 heavy bags, room to skip & shadow spar and a separate, fully inclusive weights room. The facilities are open for use for all members and guests. The rates are very affordable, at $20 per casual giving you unlimited access on classes & the gym for the entirety of your stay during opening hours for that day. A membership will get you unlimited classes between Monday - Saturday with full access to the gym, all for a very affordable $35 a week. Whether it's fitness, a new style of gym that doesn't involve the boring old weight sets, a new challenge, or you have a passion for Muaythai or kickboxing in general, then I highly recommend that you come and visit Taipan Muaythai. Whether it be in Mortdale, Marrickville, Campbelltown or Bondi, you'll be met with friendly staff, great facilities & a workout you'll not only remember but will be aching to do again!
