I LOVED this bookstore. So cute, and such a great selection! Whenever I travel, I like to get a book by a local author and/or based in a local setting and they had a wonderful local selection!! I picked up a book by the former owner of the store. I was also elated to see they had a little collection of Rebecca Solnit's work and I was able to snag one I didn't yet have. Would ABSOLUTELY come back someday if I ever find myself near again. Service was great. Wish I could've spent even more time and money in here lol read more

I had a "Blind date with a book" at Imprint Bookshop. A nice shop with a great selection of books including a local author section. The fun thing was what they called a Blind date with a book, a book wrapped in brown paper with a description of the book and setting. I am enjoying my first blind date now. For a small independent bookstore, they have such a lovely variety of authors-old favorites (Pablo Neruda The Book of Questions which I'd never seen before) and Trailer Park Psalms, poems by Ryler Dustin, winner of the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize....someone I'd never heard of yet the first poem in the book is so wonderful....that sold it for me. And a jigsaw puzzle.....my autumn treat....while listening to the Mariners (yay) as they go into the playoffs..... Plus I found Amy Tan's The Backyard Bird Chronicles...something to peruse as the weather gets hopefully wetter this autumn. You may have other interests and believe me, you will be able to find something to satisfy them at this bookstore. And if you want to be especially supportive, bring cash to save the store having to pay the credit card swipe fee which can be a high as 3%. Stop by, shop, enjoy your reads. read more

We visited Imprint books on a recent weekend away. We could not have had a more delightful experience. The shop has recently been taken over by new owners (as of November 2024) and they're doing a wonderful job. We had a chance to speak with one of the new owners about the inventory they are choosing, and how they're choosing to organize it. These owners are incredibly thoughtful on both of those fronts, and browsing the store was just lovely. There were surprises at every turn, and we were overjoyed to get the "something to read" section of our Christmas list completely knocked out at this lovely little independent shop. There seems to be bookshops all over in downtown Port Townsend (or there were at one point). I have been to Imprint Books part of the business a couple of times on previous trips to Port Townsend. Each time I am walking downtown I get reminded just how great this little book store is. They have an impressive selection of newly released books as well as older yet popular books. Their is a great children's section for books as well. You could spend quite a bit of time looking around in here not to mention spending some money here as well! Each and every time the staff here have been very welcoming and answer any questions that you may have about authors, book titles and activities at the this very fine little shop. read more

I haven't actually ever been to Port Townsend, but I am a customer and a big fan of this shop! I hope to visit in person someday. I follow the shop and one of its owners on Instagram and they are always posting photos which make me itch to pay them a visit. They also consult with readers about what they should stock and how best to serve their customers. They seem to really care about their local community and their patrons which is really lovely to see. Since the store closed to browsers as a precaution early during the coronavirus outbreak they've been advertising phone and online orders (details on how to do this is on their website). I had a look through my wishlist and emailed Sam with a list of books I've had my eye on, and she checked their stock and replied with the appropriate prices. Once I'd made my selections they sent me an invoice online via Square which was easy to pay, and my books were in the mail the next day. It was new for me but an easy and fun experience. if you've read 84 Charing Cross Road, it kind of felt like a modern-day version of that experience. It's an important time to support local businesses, even if they're local to another community, or "local" in the sense of being in your online circle, which Imprint is for me. I hope more people will take advantage of their phone and online ordering availability. read more

Beautiful little shop with tons of variety and great book recommendations scattered throughout the store by the employees. They had a fantastic coffee table book that was all about CATS! What a treat, what a dream. Definitely check out this shop if you are in the area. read more

Buzzed into Imprint last week on a quest. Did they have Carol Casella's new book "Healer?" They did. The clerk went straight to a small pile of copies. Handed it to me with a smile. I bought it and left the store to begin my reading. Sat on a nearby bench with my back to Puget Sound and the ferryboat churning noiselessly toward Whidbey Island. Poppies dancing at my feet in the mini-park on Water Street. A lone banjo player picking' out an old-time tune nearby. A fine bookstore in a picturesque town. Good service, good book, great ambience. I love this small bookstore. Port Townsend, a town of less that 10,000, actually has about five or six bookstores. That's amazing when I think about all the towns I've driven through that seem to have none. This bookstore is great for inspired bestsellers. They carry a nice array of options for whatever mood you may be in and they have a good selection of books geared toward the area. read more

What a fun surprise to stumble across this little treasure of a shop! My daughter and I are writers and frequently wish there was a store just for us, and today we found one. Such cute t-shirts and mugs, an amazing selection of writing books, as well as plenty of regular books for the non-writing book lovers as well! Wonderful little shop in the heart of Port Townsend. The staff was friendly and helpful. I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for but with a little guidance, settled on a lovely Pacific NW alphabet book for my little one. Buy "S is for Salmon" --seriously, it's adorable. Surprisingly, I liked that they recommended other bookstores I could go to in search of a specific edition. Camaraderie at its best in this cozy coastal town. read more

This excellent small bookstore is my favorite in Washington State. I have been patronizing this store irregularly for the last 25 years and have always been impressed. The stock is not large but is exceptionally well-chosen. There is always something interesting that jumps out at me and forces me to buy it. Smaller isn't necessarily less. A store like this performs a valuable editing function, going through the mass of new books to find the good stuff so that you don't have to. read more
