I don't even know where to start with this review - we owe Christine so much. We were so tired of being treated like cattle by hospitals, with midwives giving us conflicting information, not listening to us, and leaving us feeling unsafe. So we reached out to Christine and In Tandem for a consultation. I honestly have always been a bit skeptical and afraid of home birth, so I came armed with a lot of questions. But once we talked (virtually) to Christine, we immediately felt compassion and care. She is the perfect guide - never pushing her own agenda, listening, but not afraid to give you her opinion. She backs everything up with science and her experience. Christine put us at ease throughout our pregnancy - That was the exact opposite to what we had experienced at our hospitals. She always listened, and even involved our oldest kiddo during visits. Christine and her team were amazing during our son's birth, we felt so safe and cared for. We had great postpartum care as well, coming to our home and checking on my partner, answering questions, and again, involving our older kiddo. PART 2/2 (finishing our review on my husband's account due to character limit): Now for the postpartum care. This is the most unique part of choosing midwifery care and in my opinion, the #1 reason to do so. Whereas in the traditional obstetric model you typically see your provider one time at 6 weeks (often just to make sure you don't have any signs or symptoms of postpartum mood disorder, to discuss birth control, and to clear you for sex and physical activity), Christine sees clients and their new babies about 6 times in the first 6ish weeks after birth. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all postpartum visits have been at home. These visits are about so much more than just you and your baby's physical well-being; they are focused on the entire family, involving older kiddos in the home, and it's evident that Christine genuinely cares about how everyone is adjusting and doing emotionally. For the first two weeks of your baby's life, Christine's license includes the provision of all routine pediatric care, saving you from additional appointments or trips out of the home so you as the birthing person can focus on recovering and celebrating your growing family. Again, the level of attentiveness and family-centered care received is unmatched. After the birth of our first son, I dealt with a resurgence of a lifelong struggle with anxiety related to the transition to parenthood. Until I connected to a community of West Seattle mama friends, I can genuinely say Christine and Taylor were the women who provided me with the most support. After the birth of our second son, I experienced some unexpected postpartum complications that required me to page Christine. I could have easily been sent to the Emergency Department for the symptoms I was experiencing, but Christine took the time to come evaluate me in the comfort of my own home and provide me with additional testing and support. If anything page-worthy arises during your time in care with In Tandem, you will receive a response promptly, and instead of a nurse line as in hospital-based care, you get to talk to your midwife directly. PART 1/2: I feel incredibly privileged to have found In Tandem for my first pregnancy in the fall of 2018. As a Registered Nurse who's worked in hospitals my entire career, it was hard for me to think of the hospital as anything other than a place for sick people, leading me to explore community birth options. After sitting down with Christine and Taylor for a consult visit, I instantly loved them. Going into the visit as a nurse, evidence-based care was extremely important to me, and I knew instantly that these two practiced safely and appropriately and provided care based on data and science. I knew they respected the limits of community-based midwifery care and would not hesitate to transfer/escalate my care during pregnancy or labor if deemed necessary. I immediately felt safe with them as care providers and human beings. I have now had the immense privilege of being a client of In Tandem for two pregnancies and births--my first son, born in May of 2019 and my second son, born in May of 2021. Though the practice has gone through the transition of losing one of the co-owners, Taylor, as she has moved out of the state and started a new practice, the heart and soul of In Tandem has not changed in the least. Christine has carried the torch with every bit of attentiveness and loving care as I received with two midwives. She is one of the smartest people I have ever met, and is regularly attending conferences and workshops to expand her knowledge and hone her hands-on skills. She is a wonderful listener and incredibly patient. The care she offers is the definition of client-centered; you and your family will be cared for in a way that meets your specific needs. The prenatal care is exceptional. Compared to the traditional hospital-based model of obstetric care, visits are an hour long, allowing time for relationship development and building trust. Of course physical examination and prenatal testing is done as it would be in any other care setting, but there is never a feeling that you are being rushed or hurried. You are seen, heard, and cared for. I can't speak enough about the power of informed choice that is offered to clients who select midwifery care. Midwives have access to offer any type of testing and/or treatment you would find in obstetric care, but the difference is found in the way it is presented. Everything is presented as a conversation with a discussion of the most up-to-date evidence, pros/cons, etc. I have always felt with In Tandem that I had a voice that mattered and that I could ultimately make my own decisions once presented with my options. Now for the actual birth experience--the fun part! With my first birth in 2019, I had a long early/prodromal labor followed by a rapid active labor and second stage. Christine came to my house for multiple check-ins despite our chosen birth place being Center for Birth. She again gave me the power of informed choice as she presented me with options to augment my labor naturally. I was encouraged during pushing but never once told how or when to push or told not to push (something I hear from my friends who have hospital births ALL THE TIME). For my second birth, we chose a home birth. Again Christine was present with me, so gentle and encouraging, and offered me her support, but I was never forced to receive any type of intervention. Birth is respected as the physiologic process that it is. When my son's umbilical cord snapped after birth, she handled this rare occurrence seamlessly. Christine is an extremely experienced midwife and so calm during births. No matter what complications may arise, she can be fully trusted to manage them appropriately. There's a special bond between you and those that are at your birth, and we couldn't have dreamed of a better team than these two. My husband and I are big researchers, but we knew after our free consultation that we wanted to go with InTandem. They listened to all our questions, and provided honest answers based on science and experience. We immediately felt comfortable with them. I don't think they sugar coated anything--I think it is important to be straightforward when it comes to birth. They were honest and very kind and thoughtful in all our interactions. They were very patient with us. I realize having clients who research via books and the internet can be a little overwhelming. I always felt so comfortable talking about anything that was on my mind around birthing. As first timers my husband came to every prenatal appointment and we always spent the whole hour. This built a ton of trust. My husband and I trusted them completely during M's birth. I also listened to hypnobabies audio tracks for helping deal with the pain. My water broke early, before contractions had fully kicked in and they were both very helpful with suggestions for getting things moving and helping me trust my body. I ended up drinking a Verbena shake that really helped pick things up. I know that wouldn't have been an option if I had went the traditional OBGYN route. I have always felt uncomfortable in hospitals which led me to learn more about midwifery and other options. I really wanted a natural birth so I along with their support and guidance I did my best to set myself up for success. And with their support I did it! M was born 10lbs 2oz, born at the birthing center. Their support and calming presence really helped everything go well. (I had a few problems come up that they handled very calmly and fast.) They are amazingly caring midwives, providing holistic care. They balance being hands on, while also letting your body guide the process. It took a lot of work to birth my daughter and they were really active, supportive, and present throughout the process. I have told my partner that I would not want to birth our child without the support of Christine and Taylor. I wish this were an exaggeration. They have been part and parcel of the growth of our family. Prior to my first pregnancy, home birth, midwives, and doulas were not part of our vocabulary. We both hail from geographical areas of the country where this is not a common occurrence and from a generation predominantly in the hospital. My partner is an avid researcher and me, an avid reader, and we explored the many options for prenatal and postnatal care, and birth. Once we met with Christine and Taylor, even my partner, who came with a page of "what if" questions and is more skeptical than I am was fully on board with a planned home birth. Our daughter, I. (3 years) was born in 2016, and she will happily recount her birth story to you. A large part of that story includes Christine and Taylor. Our son, S. (7 mos.) was born in 2019, and I. especially misses our regular office visits. Not only did I feel cared for, so did each member of our family throughout the process. Visits included the physical examination, which is incredibly important, but also included ample time to address our mental health and well-being. We never felt like we were on the clock and genuinely felt like Christine and Taylor were invested in our family. While I could (and would) continue to sing their praises, I just want to highlight their postpartum care. There is often so much focus on prenatal care and birth and not postpartum. I've known for over a decade that I wanted midwifery care during pregnancy and childbirth. Upon finding out I was pregnant, I immediately began researching midwives who I thought my husband and myself would connect with. We met Taylor and Christine when we were just 6 weeks pregnant and at that meeting I knew we found our midwives! All through pregnancy both midwives provided us with excellent, well-researched information. They provided us with all options for prenatal screening and testing. I am a medical practitioner myself and found it reassuring to have all information presented to me in an orderly, calm manner. I felt so reassured and confident that I was making the right choices for the health of my baby thanks to the midwives! Once I went into labor, things took an unexpected turn. I had planned on going to a birth center but I progressed much more quickly than anticipated. The midwives handled this, in what seemed to me, absolutely seamlessly. We made the decision to stay home rather than run the risk of baby being delivered on the side of the road! There was no worry or concern placed on us that we didn't have a complete home birth kit, they carry one with them for situations such as ours! I loved having the in-home postpartum visits and felt so supported during that vulnerable time. I'm not certain I could have handled being a new parent without their check-ins and recommendations. Our experience with Taylor & Christine was nothing short of amazing. We were very certain that we wanted to have midwifery care for our pregnancy. They were the only midwifery consultation we did because after just one meeting we knew we wanted our care to be with them! Switched to Taylor and Christine in my 3rd trimester with baby #3, so I haven't seen them for the length of time that others have, but I love them all the same. Upon meeting them, I immediately felt at ease. I LOVED that my kids were able to attend appointments with me and were welcomed to participate in the appointment. They loved going. And it took so much stress off me to not have to find a sitter every two weeks and then every week at the end. There was one time I didn't bring my girls and Christine was totally bummed to not see them. You don't get that anywhere else. Sadly, they didn't end up catching my baby because he decided to go breech on us at the end, so I had to transfer to an OB for delivery at a hospital. We ended up hiring them to come be labor/delivery support at the hospital and are SO glad we did. And then I returned to them for postpartum care. They advocated for us, answered my questions, called me and talked me through anxiety and meltdowns over having a breech delivery and were with us every step despite not actually delivering our baby. Thoroughly enjoyed having Christine and Taylor as my midwives. They were professional all throughout and made my 4th birth amazing. Once the birth was over, the professionalism ended. I was told by Taylor, " We are very supportive of all our families and want to make sure the community building that we are fostering is beneficial." But the fact is, they are only supportive of their favorite moms. All the others are ignored and kicked to the curb while the favorites rule the playground. Other moms are allowed to be rude and condescending on a consistent basis. I was removed from the mom group. Why? I'm obviously not a favorite. We used In Tandem Midwifery for the home birth of my son last November. They took me into the practice more than half way through my pregnancy from an OB practice. They guided my family through all the decision making that goes along with making the choice to give birth at home, and were incredibly supportive of our beliefs, family and choices. They even worked with us on a payment plan when our insurance denied our coverage for home birth. As a birth photographer I had the unique opportunity to see Taylor and Christine "in action" during a birth long before it came time to start our own family. I still remember them both being so nurturing, detail oriented, supportive, and thorough and years later they were at the top of my list when we finally got those little pink lines. Coincidentally they were also on a very short list of midwives to consider from my trusted doctor which further solidified our choice even before our initial consultation appointment. It's hard to put into words how wonderful they are as care providers. I felt like the whole mama and forming family were taken care of in ways that were personalized to our specific needs. And they really foster a sense of being part of the family and community with the other families they've served. When I needed surgery during pregnancy and was worried about that they had another mama who had gone through a similar experience call me and walk me through her whole story. I had no idea this was even an option but listening to my concerns they just knew what to suggest and it turned out to be just what I needed to calm myself down that night. It was one of the best gifts I've ever been given. I think that is a common theme with ITM - they listen well and make suggestions that are just what you need. Evidence based care was really important to me. I've had a lot of negative hospital and doctor experiences and needed someone I trusted to do what was in my best interest vs what was the status quo or convenient. I was terrified of unnecessary medical interventions and concerned about getting pressured into a c section I didn't need. I had complete faith that I could birth my baby and appreciated care providers who were just as committed to making it happen as I was - all while keeping us completely safe. And at the end of the day if they had said I needed an intervention I trusted their advice knowing they were looking out for our best interest and nothing else. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation out there about home birth, especially online. Towards the end of pregnancy we had some family that expressed concerns about the safety of homebirth. While I'd done my research and knew it was the right decision for us I appreciated greatly that our midwives took the time to walk through all the (often farfetched) stories thrown at us and discuss the true risks of each and how they would manage them and under what scenarios a hospital might actually be safer and at the end they left my husband even more comfortable in our home birth decision. Throughout our time together we felt informed in all of our decisions, supported in our choices, and cared for even when things weren't easy. Taylor and Christine were flexible and accommodating, quick to respond when concerns came up, lighting fast when paged, referred us to top specialists when complications arose outside their scope of practice (but never stopped caring or checking in), and worked with me to safely get the home birth I so desperately needed. Their postpartum care was equally amazing and the only hard part of working with them is getting to that six week appointment and "graduating" out of their care. Like others, my review is long overdue. My daughter is now 15 months but the experience was pretty bad that it's still worth writing about. I think I switched over to them towards the end of my 2nd trimester. I really should've known right away to turn around honestly on my first visit. I say this because when I went for my free initial consultation, I parked and couldn't find the place because it's a bit tucked away next to another business and signage isn't huge so I gave them a call (a couple times) walking around the area and no one ever answered. I ignored this bad first impression and decided to give them a try. When I was fully attending the appointments, they let me know that it was Christine's month off for my birth month and it would be Taylor so naturally I saw Taylor a bit more for the visits. She was moody depending on the appointment and I felt like she was a bit snappy at time. I didn't feel that she was really getting to know me. Instead, I felt just like I was attending a hospital appointment with a OB. Somewhat awkward, standard, and instructive.The main reason I say this is because I tried to let her know throughout my pregnancy that although my first baby was a hospital birth..epidural...interventions and all included, I knew without that, I would've birthed really quick, and my mother did too so I had a feeling being a homebirth, this one would go fast. Needless to say, she missed my birth. We called her as soon as contractions started around 10PM, she actually told me to try to get some rest which I thought was strange when I was going into labor? and told us to call when contractions got closer together. We gave her another call about 2 hours later letting her know it felt close.We gave Taylor one last call as the baby was already on her way out, her response was to call 911 and to try not to push if I could. I definitely wasn't pushing on my own and my body knew what to do..I gave birth 5 mins after that call by 2AM with dad catching the baby. Once the fire dept got there, helped me deliver my placenta, Taylor arrived and her assistant student midwife came shortly after.They spent a lot of their time monitoring the baby and a lot of what seemed like administrative tasks. The baby had a lot of mucus due to the birth being so quick and it had to be suctioned out but it became sort of a team effort as my husband actually intervened asking if he could use a nose frida he had and they gladly let him. The part that really frustrated us was the birth bill we received afterwards. I was charged a large amount for infant CPR which they claimed was for the suctioning of the mucus which of course my husband helped out with but they must've disregarded that. They also charged us for the labor/delivery as well when they missed it completely. All of this was just so frustrating and when I took it up with their billing, they basically relayed a message from Taylor saying she stood by what they charged and things were standard. Granted, they used different medical codes for the charges once I brought it up to their billing staff but not once did either one of them reach out to explain anything. My husband and I definitely felt like the charges were not justified as we did most of the work ourselves including the "infant CPR" that we were charged for. Also, the different codes they re-billed were just fees that were just shifted around and maybe a couple dollars were shaved off because of it. It definitely felt like they were trying to make as much money off of a birth they didn't fully attend. Christine was much softer during any appointments so I appreciated that. What could've been a great experience almost felt a bit negligent. The whole experience with Taylor was such a bummer. It was a opportunity to build a connection and get to know us and ultimately help us have prenatal care/birth experience that we always wished for. I am not sure if Taylor was just tired from working alone closer to my due date but there was just so much that could've been prevented had she respected what we were telling her rather than her always knowing better. read more

I'm in awe of the work midwives do, but that goes tenfold for Taylor and Christine. We used In Tandem for the birth of our second son and the whole experience was amazing. From the very first consultation, their expertise and experience impressed us and put us at ease. For the entirety of my care, I felt like they were totally on top of everything, and helped us stay on top of what we needed to do to feel prepared for the birth. My husband and very energetic toddler accompanied me to almost all my appointments, and the midwives embraced our whole family, chaos and all. We are lucky to have many great choices for maternity care in the Seattle area, but the fact that there are always two fully certified midwives present at your birth--hence the name "In Tandem" - really sets their practice apart and underscores how serious they are about providing the very best care possible. In terms of the birth itself, I felt so comfortable being in my home for the birth. Having Christine there filled me with confidence. I was able to focus on my labor and birth without the distractions and fear that I had experienced in a hospital. Before having my first baby, I never realized how important post partum care is, or how lacking it is in standard American care. The midwives make several home visits following the birth of your baby, there are a couple office visits after that, and they have a network of wonderful care providers to refer you to for any kind of additional care you may need. I met Taylor and Christine for a consultation during my 2nd trimester after a stressful move from Arkansas (our temp home of 4 years) to Seattle. I was anxious to find good care that would be close by to my new home that would make traveling with a toddler not too overwhelming. Thankfully, Taylor and Christine are a wonderful fit for is! My family is so grateful to have such wonderful ladies ease our anxieties, being great at keeping absent minded pregnant women (me) organized with all the paperwork, always keeping us informed of our choices, extending their care in helping me get ideas of how to transition my daughter to becoming a big sister, and of course, being the calming experts during the birth of my son. Prenatal care is top notch and can include or exclude just about anything you desire...you are in full control (contrast that with typical OB care and it is a big difference). My first baby was planned to be at a birth center. I labored at home for a long time and then made it to the center at about 7mm dilated. Then my labor stalled out for a long time. For nearly 40 hours these ladies comforted and supported me and tried to keep me going. I never felt a bit of pressure and I knew the choice to transfer was mine when I wanted it. Unfortunately I came down with a rare case of preeclampsia and then had to transfer urgently to manage my blood pressure. They were unbelievably compassionate as I was carted onto an ambulance...Christine was especially the rock I needed to get through it. I will spare the birth details at the hospital, but it was pretty traumatic both emotionally and physically. It is not an exaggeration to say that Taylor & Christine were the only thing that kept our little family together during those rough first few days. They tended to my fragile state of health, helped me nurse and supported the nervous baby moments from the comfort of our home. Going into birth, I had no idea that postpartum care was far more important than the birth itself. Thank god for these ladies! Then for my second baby, a planned cesarean was necessary. I was scared to visit a hospital again, but these two offered co-care for the postpartum care again. Once again, they were the bright spot that helped me through recovery. I wish every woman could have a team like In Tandem to help them start their motherhood on the right foot. read more

I have been a birth doula for 5 years and recently had the distinct pleasure of sharing a birth with Christine and Taylor. I can not even begin to express how amazing Taylor and Christine are at In Tandem midwifery. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. I am a first time mom who sought prenatal care from In Tandem. Initially I liked the idea of a birth center birth, but after our second visit with Taylor and Christine both my husband and I decided we'd like to pursue a home birth. This was hands down the best decision I've ever made in my entire life and I have In Tandem to thank. Both Taylor and Christine are confident, intelligent, sympathetic, caring, kind, honest, and funny. I never for one moment doubted my ability to birth my child at home because of the confidence Taylor and Christine instilled in me. In addition to the fact that they are both just genuinely lovely people, they are extremely non judgmental. They are great at giving you the facts and stepping back to allow you to make an informed decision. Whatever decision is right for your family, Taylor and Christine will support. During my pregnancy I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, which was devastating to me. Christine offered to attend an GD class with me on her day off to support me because she knew I was having trouble accepting this diagnosis. I have never had a health care provider offer to do that or anything remotely close to that. At another point during my pregnancy I had to be monitored at the hospital for several hours and both Christine and Taylor came to the hospital with my husband and I and stayed with us well into the night. Last but certainly not least, I had an amazing and beautiful birth experience (at home) thanks to these stellar women. I would not change one single thing about my pregnancy or my child's birth. I highly recommend In Tandem and will be seeking their care again should my husband and I decide to bring another child into this world. read more

I met Taylor during my first pregnancy. I was seeking an out-of-hospital birth and needed midwives that were confident and experienced. I was also moving back to the states two-thirds of the way through my pregnancy, so I didn't have as much time to get to know them. Taylor was shadowing my midwife team at the time and I often forgot she was just a student because of the knowledge and confidence she displayed during our appointments. Not only is she a great midwife, but we adored her and were so happy to have her be a part of our home birth. We felt like old friends right away. During my labor Taylor was there anytime we needed her and very unintrusive during the rest of the time. Whenever I looked to her I felt so comfortable because she had this look of pure joy on her face, I could tell she was happy to be there and happy to be a part of our birth. After the birth the midwives were very helpful and made sure to give us time as a family before doing the infant exams. They quietly monitored every bit of the process to make sure we were safe and knew exactly what we needed and made sure we were settled before leaving. We knew from our first meeting with Taylor and Christine that they were the right people to guide us through the transition to parenthood and help bring our little guy into the world. Now, just three weeks before his estimated date of arrival, we couldn't be more certain that this was the right choice. Believing firmly in the capability of my body and childbirth being one of the things it was designed to do made me look for a local midwife once I was pregnant. I found one in West Seattle and was happy there at first, but when lab results showed indication of a condition I did not want to treat "traditionally" I felt unsupported in my choice. It's a special relationship between midwives and mothers to be. On the one hand I was looking for advice and experience, on the other I wanted to be supported in how I wanted to do things. I came to Taylor and Christine at 20 weeks, and I loved how they explained several options at any crossroad. I almost always knew what their recommendation was (and mostly agreed), but knew that they would support mine (obviously withing a frame of responsibility). Taylor and Christine are both extraordinary professionals and people. Together they make a team that makes you feel like you can get through anything. Well, you'll still have to have the baby yourself - but other than that. Now, our sweet daughter is lying in her bed next to me. She was born at home just as I had hoped, and is thriving. The ITM community and Taylor and Christine continue to be part of what I look towards when I have any questions about her or I just want to share and listen. Taylor and Christine have ruined me for any other (health) care provider. I have never felt more safe and well taken care of in any other medical setting (I ended up having a troubled pregnancy and early delivery -27 weeks- and they were by my side the whole time.) My husband and I met up with them when I was 7 weeks pregnant and knew within minutes of our meeting that we wanted them to help through our pregnancy and delivery. Taylor and Christine are strong, smart, energetic, compassionate, powerful women. Its clear they know what they're doing, love what they're doing, are very capable and extremely well connected when things fall out of their scope. I began having issues in my pregnancy at week 8. I would page the girls and within minutes I would get a call and within the hour, they'd have a referral of where I would need to be for more emergent care. When I arrived at other hospitals I would be greeted at the entrance by someone who knew my name and what was going on with me. Considering I had no established medical care in Seattle at the time, this was HUGE for me and a testament to Taylor and Christine's connections and tenacity to get me into appointments within hours of having something come up. Things settled down a bit and I had several routine appointments in the office where I heard babies heart beat and we began to plan our home birth. I always loved our appointments and conversations. I felt very well cared for and supported. I had complications again at week 20, paged the midwives and was in a hospital within an hour based on Taylors advice, and again, at week 27, this time I entered care emergently with Taylor setting me up at Highline and I ended up being transferred to Swedish by ambulance where I delivered three days later. Taylor and Christine were in contact with me the whole time. They were so soothing and supportive and came to visit me while I was on bed rest and were able to talk to the doctors while I was there. I felt like I had the best care from all worlds, but felt so safe with Taylor and Christine. They took the time to really explain things to me, what could happen with the baby and myself when delivering this early and really listened to me and supported me. We had hoped I could be on bed rest for awhile, but when I delivered at week 27, Christine was at the hospital with me, by my side, helping me through it. I am forever grateful for that. I wasn't sure what was going to happen, if baby would survive... It was a scary day, and having the support of the midwives (and my doula Alise McCallister) to bridge the gap between my dream home birth, and what this was turning into, made all the difference for me. The midwives (and doula) kept me calm and informed. I am eternally grateful that all turned out well for me and the baby for her being born three months early! I had several complications post birth, I had a spinal headache from the epidural (worse than labor and delivery!) and then I had phlebitis on my thigh, which turned out to be a 2cm blood clot on the junction to my femoral artery. I complained for hours and days to the staff at Swedish that something wasn't right with my pain level (headache) post birth and that my veins were really painful, and not only did they not listen to me, they didn't even look at my body! They released me. I continued to page the midwives, and it was Taylor who came to my house several times after the baby was born and looked at my leg and was super concerned, it was Taylor who listened to me about my spinal headache and got me connected with a cranial sacral miracle worker who relieved my pain. It was Taylor who told me not to leave Swedish without forcing them to look at my leg, which ultimately revealed the clot that could have caused major issues if it hadn't been caught in time. I feel like I owe these midwives so much. Potentially my life. We were in the hospital for months with baby and then had a very hazy transition to home. It was only months later that I realized I never even received a bill from these girls for their hospital services. I had thought at one point that I wouldn't get a charge since it was only one of them that could make it vs. the two, but then realized that the charges are different when they transition into a hospital. I think they may have just been there to hold my hand and support me, period. I will never forget that, and their post birth visits and milkshakes and love and support for me and my family. So yes, I highly, highly recommend them. They are amazing, experienced women you can trust hands down. read more

very early in my pregnancy (even before i got pregnant) i began researching various homebirth midwives in my area. i kept coming back to in tandem and after one meeting with christine and taylor, my husband and i knew they were the perfect fit for us. i am currently in my 35th week of pregnancy so we are not even out of their care yet, but i felt compelled to write a review. i have become totally at ease with everything surrounding this birth because taylor and christine have the most wonderfully calming manners and because of their extensive knowledge and experience. every time we go in for a visit i always leave refreshed and relaxed. i have complete faith in their abilities and they have helped guide me to have faith in my own body and trust that this baby will be born in a way that is best. i know whatever needs to happen will happen under their care and guidance. my husband and i feel very lucky to have them as part of our birth team to welcome our new baby soon! read more

I am so happy to have had In Tandem Midwifery with me through my second pregnancy. Christine and Taylor provided me with extensive, detailed answers to the litany of questions I brought to each appointment. After a gestational diabetes diagnosis required that I transfer to a hospital, Christine and Taylor were empathetic,and gentle with me while being pragmatic about my care and committed above all to a safe, healthy birth for me and baby. I never felt abandoned or unsupported during the late-pregnancy transfer, and I was still able to get answers to my questions about what would happen in the transfer process. After our hospital birth, I returned to their care and they immediately caught my son's tongue tie which had been missed by the hospital doctors, nurses, pediatricians and lactation consultant. My whole family was treated like an integral part of the prenatal experience, including my toddler who still asks to visit the midwives so he can play with trains. They are committed to building community to support families through their transitions, and they have fostered a wonderful group of "ITM" mamas, babies and partners who continue to plan meet-ups, share tips and support each other while we all figure out what on earth family looks like. I was new to Seattle and newly pregnant when I decided to set up a consultation visit at In Tandem Midwifery, immediately my husband I felt at ease and knew we needed to look no further. My prenatal visits at In Tandem Midwifery quickly became a favorite part of my pregnancy experience. Taylor and Christine offer a caring and informative approach to prenatal care, educating us with all our options and allowing us to make our own decisions regarding our care. In the end, I never felt judged in the decisions we made in pregnancy and during labor. They always acted with professionalism, are very knowledgable, and I know they truly cared about us, our baby, and our entire prenatal and post-partum experience. Christine and Taylor are seriously two of the best gals I've ever met. When I first stepped into their office, I automatically felt a sense of peace and comfort. I had my first (and only, so far) baby with them, and my experience was nothing but fabulous! They were always there to answer questions, the time during labor went by beautifully, with them coaching me on how to breathe, what to expect and what to do. If you're nervous about them arriving on time, don't be. Seriously, there is absolutely nothing bad I can say about them. Our almost 2-year old knows their names, as Daddy constantly trains him to know the names of "the ladies who helped you into this world." :) The worst part about my experience was having to say goodbye and switching to a pediatrician.
