We had an incredible experience with Wellspring Midwifery. I had recently had a missed miscarriage when I came into their care with my second pregnancy. The midwifery clinic I was previously with for the first pregnancy , told me I could no longer work with them and did not give a reason. Valley medical midwives said they would not work with me because I am overweight and of advanced maternal age. The other midwives clinics in the area said they were full for my due date. Swedish midwives did not take my insurance. When I went to the obgyn, she made me feel like I was wasting her time and I felt rushed during a very tender time. I felt discouraged and decided to widen how far I was willing to travel for care. I reached out to Wellspring Midwifery, and they promptly set up a zoom call where I asked tons of questions, we discussed our experience and they shared info about their practice. I felt so relieved to find them during such a hard time, filled with fear and anxiety. Our first appointment was over an hour and Lizz made me feel so comfortable and heard. It was amazing, they even did Saturday appointments so we didn't have to miss work and the traffic was much better. I met Elliot a few appointments later and she was equally awesome to Lizz! Throughout the process, I had monthly appointments and additionally was able to call for questions or write them in the online portal and they would promptly respond. Later in my pregnancy, we made the informed decision that we would prefer to transfer my care to a hospital so that I could access an epidural during labor and knowing which hospital we were going to. Lizz and Elliot were supportive of this decision and helped with the transition of paperwork. They allowed me to stay on for postpartum care. I even called them during my labor when I was trying to make a decision. It was awesome to have the support of their postpartum care because my obgyn only scheduled me for 1 appointment at 8 weeks postpartum. Lizz and La-Kiesha (their midwifery student who joined many of my appointments) came into my home 2 days after my baby was born and did a visit where we talked about the baby, my husband and myself and did some checks on the baby and me. They also gave me breastfeeding support. I had multiple follow ups in office during the first 6 weeks postpartum. It was so helpful to get regular support throughout that period of time. I'm one day shy of my son's first birthday and as I reflect on my pregnancy and birth and postpartum experience, the role that Lizz and Elliott played continues to be profoundly instrumental in my overwhelmingly positive perinatal journey. I'm a practicing birth doula who met Lizz and Elliott years ago in a professional setting, and knew after watching them first hand that they were the midwives I wanted when it was my turn. They held me through the great mystery of pregnancy and when we learned that my baby was breech and my plan for a homebirth was no longer in the cards, Lizz and Elliott offered me the support I deeply needed to feel confident and at peace moving forward with a sacred planned cesarean birth. I couldn't be more grateful to Lizz and Elliot for the care that I received during my pregnancy. From the very beginning, we knew that we would be well cared for and we continued to experience that through every appointment (both our regularly scheduled appointments and when issues/concerns came up). One of the best things about working with midwives is getting to feel like you have time to ask all of your questions during an appointment and the responses that you receive between appointments. They always validated our concerns and were extremely prompt in getting back to us to provide their thoughts, suggestions, or offer to meet to discuss it more. While the care we received prenatally was wonderful, the reason that you want to have the right people with you is in the case of an emergency during birth. Despite having some scary and unexpected things happening after my son was born, we never doubted that we were in the best possible hands to handle it. When we were transferred to the hospital, Lizz came and stayed in the hospital with us. I expected that the records would be transferred and maybe a warm hand off, but I never expected that Lizz would stay and be by my side until I was fully stabilized. I felt so loved and so supported and knew they would continue to advocate for my desires even as our original plans had changed. It was more than I ever could have hoped for and something that I will never forget. Our follow up visits at home and in the office felt like having family come to check on us. The provider that you choose for your pregnancy and birth journey walks alongside you for one of the most transformative experiences in your life. When I found out I was expecting a second baby, I went with the large hospital providers that I used for my first birth. I'm a FTM but knew from the very beginning I wanted a midwife experience for my prenatal care and delivery. Lizz and Elliott are amazing midwives, they are very knowledgeable and addressed all my concerns and fears regarding delivery. They weren't pushy when suggesting medical treatment, but instead provided the information and let me decide what was best for me and my baby. Overall I had a very positive labor and delivery, they were there every step of the way, from the beginning with home visits during labor and throughout my delivery with the encouragement I needed. If I could, I would give Wellspring more than five stars. Words will never suffice in expressing how profound our experience was with Elliott and Lizz. At 30 weeks, after a poor experience with a different midwife group in town, I was looking to transfer care and my doula recommended to consult with Wellspring. Immediately upon meeting Lizz over Zoom, I knew we would transfer our care to them and felt so confident in that decision. Both Lizz and Elliott listened to us, offered informed consent throughout every stage of care, and I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I would receive the support I desired for my planned home birth. Throughout my 32 hours of active labor, I felt so safe, so secure, and so trusted. Every option was presented to me with full information, nothing was forced on me, and every decision was mine to make. Ultimately, all of the hopes and dreams I ever had for my birth experience came to fruition with the support of these two amazing humans. My only regret is that I didn't establish care with them initially so I could get more time with them. If we were ever to have another child, I would 100% return to Wellspring for all of my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. read more

I can't say enough great things about Wellspring Midwifery! I live in Northern California, but Lizz worked with me virtually through my third trimester of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She was so supportive, kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. She provided me with resources so that I could do further research on my own which was incredibly helpful. My baby was late, and the doctors at the hospital was really pushing me to get induced. I so badly wanted to go into labor naturally and have an unmedicated birth, but the doctors at the hospital were scaring me by throwing the word "stillbirth" around. Thankfully I had Lizz in my corner who used evidence and her experience to reassure me and give me the confidence I needed to push for what I felt was right. The baby and I were both healthy so there was no need to induce, and at 41 weeks and 3 days I did go into labor naturally and ended up having the unmedicated birth of my dreams! If you are looking for a professional midwife who will take your care personally, I recommend Wellspring Midwifery. It was so clear the Lizz wanted the best for me and tailored her care to my and my family's needs. I loved working with Lizz and Elliot. They use evidence based practices to make sure that you and your baby are receiving the most up to date medical care. They were incredibly knowledgeable and informed about best practices for pregnancy and postpartum. They balanced this pragmatic medical competence with a gentle holistic approach on wellness, available to reassure, answer questions, and to take into account the parent's mental health needs as well as medical needs. I felt that this balance was perfect in terms of what I was looking for in medical providers during what can be such an anxiety inducing experience. I got less than reassuring news during my 20 week ultrasound and Lizz and Elliot were extremely thoughtful in the way that they gave me the necessary information to make decisions with, giving me the knowledge I needed to make the best decisions for myself and my family without overwhelming me with choices or leaving me to figure it out on my own. Due to the pregnancy complication that I had, with their help, I ended up deciding to see a maternal fetal medicine specialist to get additional guidance. Ultimately, due to my medical complications, my baby was born premature so I was not able to have the home birth that I had hoped for. However, Lizz arrived at my home 20minutes after I called them to let them know my water had broken (at 3am!) and was absolutely incredible. They assessed what was going on, helped me decide where to transfer, made all the calls and transferred records in a flash, helped me get all my things into the car, and met us at the hospital door to help us get to our room. The staff commented on how well the transfer went and how they had all the records and information that they needed immediately before we even got to the hospital. They stayed with us until our doula was nearly arrived and was a wonderful advocate and support while we got adjusted to the new reality of having our baby early and in the hospital. Lizz and Elliot followed up with me after the birth while our baby was in the NICU to check in on me and my postpartum health. This was so welcome and necessary as, naturally, having a baby in the NICU means that all the focus is on the health and wellbeing of the baby. It was so important to have someone who was prioritizing my health and wellbeing at that time. Once our baby was released from the NICU, they visited us at home and helped us get established with a wonderful pediatrician and a PCP for myself. We now have a huge, happy, healthy, delightful 8 month old and I will be forever grateful to Wellspring for helping us through those months of worry after the 20 week ultrasound and through the alarm of a premature birth and NICU stay. We are so happy that we worked with them and if we ever decide to get pregnant again, we will be giving them a call, first thing!!! P.S. They are great with cats too :) read more

I was on a mission to find a body inclusive midwifery & I found the perfect one! Lizz was so kind & supportive thru my entire pregnancy and she helped make me feel so amazed & proud of my plus size body! I felt heard & seen at every appointment & I loved how in control I got to be with my pregnancy. Having both Lizz and Elliot at my birth was magical. I was able to bring my baby into this world in the comforts of my own home with both midwives present. I went to Wellspring Midwifery for my 4th pregnancy. This was my first time going to see a Midwife vs a Dr at a clinic. My past experiences at a clinic and hospital was not great to say the least. I refused to have the same experience as before where I would end up mal informed (do to lack of communication) and delivering with a dr I've never met before. I also knew I wanted to deliver in a tub this time. I am so glad I made the decision to see Lizz and Elliot. They were both absolutely amazing! I have PTSD and they made me feel so comfortable and at ease during my pregnancy and labor. With their guidance I was able to have a quick and least painful birth I've ever had.
