I've been to Inch Beach twice and each time it was beautiful. The first time it was rainy and overcast and today it was a beautiful sunny day. The beach is gorgeous and very clean. There are a ton of cute little shells that you can find intact and wash off if you want a souvenir. The shops were closed when I visited today but apparently they may be up for sale and reopened sometime this year. There is a good amount of parking here and a very clean container bathroom with running water and no smell. There's a spigot you can use to wash your feet off with when you're done. If you have the chance I definitely recommend stopping here. read more

I will always remember the panoramic scene in David Lean's "Ryan's Daughter" when a giddy Sarah Miles holds her parasol upright and greets a smitten Robert Mitchum on an expansive beach as the wind carries their respective hats away. About a quarter-century ago, I sought the beach out on my first trip to the Dingle Peninsula and found it looking as magical as it did in the movie. Earlier this month, I returned with Jamie W. knowing full well that it was on our way to our overnight stay in Dingle. The magic was there still (photo: http://bit.ly/2ehwPGZ). It was close to sunset and the perfect time to enjoy the three-mile stretch of flat compacted sand that looked so visually stunning you would have thought someone intentionally designed the beach that way. It was fairly empty except for random tourists and hardcore surfers. All we did was walk out into the sand and enjoy the calm of the sea cradled by Brandon Bay. Y'all....this place is a bustling busy one BUT it's amazing! I never knew we would stumble upon such a little hidden gem in Ireland. My friends who visited before me mentioned keeping an eye out for a sign to a beach as we neared Dingle. I was on a little country road with my cousin and saw a small brown sign with an arrow for Inch Beach. So we followed... Upon arrival - we parked in the little parking lot and walked out onto the beach in our tennis shoes and jackets to find that you CAN DRIVE ONTO THE BEACH. It also spans what seems like a couple miles at least. So after taking it in for a short while we left. When leaving Dingle the next morning we stopped for a coffee bright and early with some pastries and blueberries from the local market and made sure to DRIVE onto Inch Beach. We enjoyed watching soccer (football) players practicing on the sand and dogs running up and down the coastline with their frisbees. It was most magical and relaxing. read more

Kerry County council , any chance of removing these commercial eyesores from this majestic beach . I think Kerry could do better ! This is a spectacular scenic beach but these unsightly trailers should be removed from this beach . read more

Inch Beach is a good stop if you're driving between Dingle and Killarney. It is roughly halfway and not a very large detour from the main road. There was plenty of parking but it was very cold. We were visiting at the end of September and it was chilly and very windy which made it feel even colder. No one was in the water or spending much time in the sand. I have no doubt that this is a very popular place to visit when it's a bit warmer. There was plenty of room for people to spread out towels and enjoy the scenery. 3.5 stars. read more

A must-see if you are running around the Ring of Kerry or doing the Dingle Peninsula. We made this our first stop, and it was a great way to begin a tour of Dingle. Beautiful white sand beach (that you can drive on! Though we did not), gorgeous scenery all around. Free entrance, an easy stop. I suggest bringing a picnic if you are around lunchtime, it would be a nice spot to just sit and enjoy for a bit. You had people swimming and people dressed like they were in Iceland...the weather is relative, haha. It was pretty windy but it was an invigorating walk and allowed our 2 year old to run off a lot of steam before piling him back into the car for more sights along the Peninsula. Easy car parking, a nice little cafe to enjoy a coffee overlooking the beach, huts set up for surf board rental, dogs, people, friends, football...you name it, this beach is just a casual, lovely little stretch along Dingle Bay. And huge, so never feels crowded even with many people. read more

Its big and beautiful, though there is quite a bit of trash, and nice for a stroll...this comes from a Yelper has been to Hawaii, Mexico, The Carribean, and lives in San Diego. But this Ireland which barely toughes 70 degrees, and its pretty darn cold and windy! Give Inch Beach about 30-50 years...that should be enough time for Global Warming to set in, heat up this place, and then this will be a great 5 Star beach! read more

Inch beach or Inch strand comprises of well over a two mile long peninsula 'strand of sand' jutting out into the sea, very dramatic, and very beautiful. A notable location shot for David Lean's "Ryan's Daughter", filmed around the peninsula in 1969. as well as the 1962 film version of "The Playboy of the Western World" which was shot entirely here. It's a vast expanse of sand, particularly at low tide when the sea recedes almost a mile out. Situated on the south of Dingle Peninsula between Dingle and Castlemaine, it's a very popular spot for holidaymakers, and as you may imagine for surfing. On the face of the beach's bleak beauty perfectly suits a 70mm widescreen lens, it's a film makers dream panovision panorama, and the image of Rose Ryan as played by Sarah Miles walking along the beach, parasol in hand, is a hard one to forget. When I was last there someone had written 'Sarah' with large letters in the sand, whether it was meant for her or another Sarah who knows, but it was nice. It's hugely impressive, I'd recommend a visit here both at high & low tide, the high tide is the most photogenic, unless you're blessed with a sunset and then the vast sandy plain almost recalls another Lean movie, Lawrence of Arabia! Viewed from the R561 road, where you can pull over and experience the view on the enlosed pictures, if you haven't the time to walk along, this beach curves off into the distance, suggesting an almost infinite length. For Ryan's Daughter fans I'd recommend a visit either out of season or early on the day if you want the reenact the peacefulness. It's amazing to walk along the sand, but very bracing winds, I'd leave your parasol behind! A fabulous location. read more

Inch strand is one of the jewels in Kerry's crown - and their are many - with its long stretch of golden shoreline and beautiful crystal clear water. Good surf too. If I was in charge of beaches I would ban cars - they have no place on them and councils should invest in proper parking facilities to rid them of the eyesore of parked vehicles. I say that having been on Inch one quiet day when it was just a pure joy to revel in the beauty of the stretch of sand and sea. The following day was busier and the parked cars really marred the sense of undisturbed nature which really is what Kerry is about. But it's a world-class beach nonetheless, and as you swim out in view of rolling hills, you might just think you've found paradise. There's a cafe too which does decent fare but has a ridiculous queuing system that would put you off - so if it's busy, be prepared to wait. Staff are lovely though. read more

Cool beach visit every summer,it is easier to park etc than castlegregory and not as built up as other beachs around.its a good beach but depends on the time of year,there is strong currents and tides. read more

Just discovered Inch beach with its miles of golden sand. You can drive onto the beach, it actually has signs parking for 1Km. We parked our camper and were treated to the roll of the Atlantic all night. To add to our delight there is a restaurant 'Sammy's' overlooking the beach with scrumptious food. Also a little shop and very well maintained 'Loo's'. We'll definitely be back read more
