Don't know why they're using false information here. You need to know the location has a store and has things in it, but by NO means is it anything like what you're told here. MY personal experiences are that its selection is sparce and cramped but it is still a used item store and might have what you need.

I have been to several Ontario locations, everywhere from Barrie to Toronto to Bowmanville. The stores are always well-stocked, clean, and 100% volunteer-run (Read: sweet little old ladies and GREAT vintage finds). They don't have great hours, but again, volunteer run, and now that they're open late Thursdays (and Fridays in December!), I'm okay with them opening at 10AM. There is a whole small corner of the store dedicated to golf items, if you're into that sort of thing. They have a TON of books, and a lot of textiles, sheets, table cloths, etc, etc. I always find their small appliances, kitchen items and art to be the best parts of the store (for me). The clothing selection is surprisingly modern mixed with grandmas favourites.

Multiple workers complained about being underpaid and being poorly treated by management. I recently had a bad experience prompting me to voice my concern. I was outside the front door where a lady was yelling and screaming. She was smoking a pipe. Employees just stood by. The fact that this is just so normal to everyone there scares me. It makes a big difference when you're looking through the racks to have a friendly face telling you about the deals rather than feeling like you're in the way, which I've experienced at other thrift stores in the past. There are two floors to this shop - today the second floor was wedding themed, which was amazing. There were also formal dresses, jewellery, handbags and suits on display upstairs - anything you might need if you were going to or planning a wedding. It was fun poking through the wedding dresses and seeing right in front of you how much styles have changed throughout the decades! Downstairs there is a "front" that has racks of clothing and some jewellery and in the back, you'll find some homewares and yet even more clothing. Shoes, winter coats, and kids clothes are back there. The prices at Hand in Hand are amazing!! You won't find any almost-full-price goods here. If the item wasn't priced it was $4, and Friday's are student discount days! (Good to know!) We found an amazing hot pink pineapple print dress...definitely not for me, but one of our friends was so excited to be getting it. This is the kind of thrift store I enjoy being in - it really feels like you could find rare treasures here if you just had enough time.

So believe me when I tell you, I know a good thrift store when I see one. This place could be a 5 star location if it had a better shoe and bag section. You can tell these two sections are always small, not a lot of space was designated for them. I was so excited to visit a Frenchy's.. A true Frenchy's close to home. I had amazing luck in the sweater department, and honestly it's where I concentrated most of my searching. So I can't tell you how good the shirts or skirt bins where. As you can see from my photos, I found many of my favourite brand names. I was pumped! I went through the dresses and jackets, but came up empty handed. The selection was there, lots to choose from, just nothing to my taste. The store is large enough to keep me coming back. Although it's close, it's not that close. A bit of a drive from downtown to lower Sackville, but I would say it's worth it. The upside is there is lots of parking, I also like that the price of the clothing is listed on the bin labels (see photos). The complete price list is in the fitting rooms Incase you're wondering. Also, the dressing rooms are clean and very large. Large enough to try on the whole store if you like! The whole store is very clean! I can't wait to go back.

Recently, after donating a bag of Christmas items and children's toys, I tried to use a 20% discount coupon. My purchase totaled $19.97, but I was denied the discount because it was not exactly $20. The supervisor refused to round it up, even though pennies are no longer used in Canada. For a store that relies on community donations, choosing two cents over customer goodwill is disappointing.

This is an excellent store for tools and items that don't retain fragrance chemicals, such as used…read moreporcelain sinks, ceramic lamps, floor tiles, wall tiles, tubs, used doors and windows, etc. Also good for small carpentry items, such as hinges, screws, , etc. As in most second-hand stores, furniture can retain deodorizer sprays that can persist. If you don't care about that, the selection of furniture is small, but very good quality with some neat retro stuff as well as more modern furniture. I have suggested to the manager that employees don't wear cologne, scented hand cream, etc. so that it's easier to tell if the furniture has fragrance in it. For me, fragrance chemicals are a deal breaker.
