As far as scheduling, it took me 6 months to get an initial consultation. Then the next appointment was another 6 months out. It's not easy to get in here, but worth it. Unfortunately, when scheduling appointments, they don't ask what days or times or good, so a 1pm appointment for me means I have to take an entire day off work. Honestly, because they are specialist (and much needed) I would move heave and earth to make sure I made my appointment. This is a busy place and things may take a while, but over all, it is totally worth it.

I should have reviewed it years ago when I was first treated by Dr Dale Senior. I can only guess that I was a patient of his for at least ten years. When he retired the practice stayed the same high caliber office with Dr Alan Brooks taking over the practice. In addition to having an outstanding doctor and nursing staff they also have an APRN that I would not hesitate to make an appointment with. The front office staff also is on top of things and deserves a five star rating. They make registering for your appointment, checking out, and scheduling future appointments a breeze. However, at my most recent visit, I was appalled at his uncaring attitude and the lack of professionalism. At the end of the visit, he told me that my eyes were doing well and that he would see me at my next visit. He then left the room. As I was leaving the exam room myself, Dr. Busquets' assistant pulled me back into the room and told me that I was in fact not going to be seeing Dr. Busquets again--he was moving out of state to a different branch of the same company and that I would need to re-stablish care with another provider in the practice. Dr. Busquets said NOTHING to me about his leaving, just "see you next time." I am so disappointed at the lack of respect that Dr. Busquets showed during my visit. I am a physician myself and while I don't claim to be perfect, I can say that I do everything that I can to make my patients feel cared for and respected every time I see them. It's not too much to ask. When I have left practices in the past, I have always let my patients know about the transition. In person, when possible, with a letter otherwise. I have thanked them for letting me care for them, discussed the transition, offered my best wishes for them going forward, and made myself available to answer any questions or concerns they had. It's just the respectful and professional thing to do. Very disappointed that Dr. Busquets didn't care enough about me to tell me himself.

I was given no information about what was being done or why, even when I tried asking. Every person I saw was rude and brisk, moving me through my visit like I was a number. I was manhandled the entire time. They held my eyes open and pushed my head around without giving instruction or asking if they could touch me and they would get frustrated at me when I naturally flinched. Dr. Busquet was very forceful and used his ungloved hands to touch me face and eye. When his nails were pushing up against my eye and I moved he treated me like it was my fault for moving and that I was too sensitive. I felt like a procedure was forced on me the same day as my first exam there, without any clear information as to what was happening and why. When I flagged that I was in pain during the procedure and I was crying, I was ignored and my head was forced down repeatedly. I don't understand how anyone could continue to go here if they're treating every patient the way they treated me. I've been to retina specialists elsewhere and it was nowhere near this horrifying.

So I called around to the nearest UTC to me and found North Lexington Treatment Assoc. After calling first to ask a few questions I Ubered over to seek treatment. It wasn't anything life threatening, but needed to be addressed before another week went by. There was some paperwork to fill out upon arriving, but my wait time was less than 15 minutes. The staff was very nice and really seemed to like where they worked. My nurse listened closely to my issue and explained everything that she was going to do. The Dr was in my room shortly after and was very nice. She made me feel at ease and relaxed ( i was a bit freaked out). She prescribed and called in my prescription so that by the time I ubered over to the pharmacy it was ready for me. I have to say I was very pleased with the whole experience. Way better than waiting a week and way better than going to the germ factory (emergency room). I would say my total time at the UTC was less than 45 minutes! Remarkable. My previous U of L Primary Care doctor retired in the past two years and I found waiting lists for new patient appointments in the Primary Care Field can be at least a year out. Each time I have an appointment with one of my medical specialists I always pose the question "can you recommend a Primary Care doctor?" Several doctors and nurses recommended this practice and. In particular APRN Kaela Turley was recommended. Several months ago my husband and I made the call and got a new patient appointment for him. We had agreed together to evaluate how that appointment went and after the fact make an appointment for me. We were so impressed with the practice, it's location, and APRN Turley that we didn't even leave and discuss the change instead I scheduled a new patient appointment on the way out. I have now seen the APRN several times and each time I know we are at the correct Primary Care Practice! Kayla Turley is knowledgeable, professional, and outshines some doctors I have seen. Bottom line they really care and even will work you in on short notice if they have the time. If they cannot work you in for an immediate need there is a Norton Immediate Care right next door.
