We were in the market in Catania today at about lunch time, and we decided to get something to eat. We're relatively new to Italy, but we do live here, and the request for lunch was pretty simple - not Italian.
So Yelp it was, and we found this little gem of a restaurant. First, a bit about the restaurant itself. It is pretty small, not real fancy, pretty much precisely the kind of restaurants I like to eat at. There were some nice paintings on the wall from India. The young gentleman that seated us showed us to our table, and immediately (and without asking) set up a couple fans to keep us comfortable (which wasn't really necessary!) . He presented us a menu - which marked the first of a couple cool things - he spoke English, and the menu items were in both Italian and English. As we don't speak Italian well (yet!) that was very comforting. We spoke to another lady that works there and shared some of our experiences here. Very warm and friendly staff.
We ordered tandoori chicken, lamb curry, lamb biryani, naan, and drinks. All of the food was very good, and very reasonable prices. Portion sizes are decent - the biryani rice was a very good size portion, the other two about one person sizes.
Where we come from in the US Indian food is pretty common, but relatively expensive. We are big fans. So we will for sure come back - I guess they are the only Indian restaurant in Catania. I highly recommend if you're an Indian food fan. read more
