Just a quick review on my experience at this hispanic indoor "mall" in Indy. I was cravaing ice cream and we had some time to kill so I made my bf pull over to get ice cream at this random Yelp find about 5 minutes from where we were when I suddenly desired ice cream. Now... I took 8 years of Spanish but my brain went haywire and I couldn't say a single word of Spanish. That was a problem as everyone spoke Spanish. And not everyone spoke English. That's not a problem, of course. I should have been more prepared but my big dumb dumb brain failed me. There are at least two places to order ice cream inside. We got ice cream from the stand right by the entrance. That was the wrong one as I had wanted to try the stand with the unique flavors like corn and horchata. The one we went to had like a dozen basic flavors and milkshakes. Do a little bit of wandering inside if you want to find the stand with the unique flavors. There are dozens of other stalls inside, selling all sorts of stuff from cheap garbage to even dishwashers and hot tubs! We didn't see what the food trucks outside had. My bf got 2 scoops of ice cream ($5.50) and I panicked ordered a massive size of an oreo milkshake ($8.75 and 80000 calories). It was okay. Not as good as a DQ Blizzard which is top tier in the oreo mix em up game. Prices are barely on anything so make sure to brush up on your basic Spanish. As for the bathroom, it was messy, busy, and well worn. Also, parking was near impossible and potholes are abundant. Yikes. I popped over here on Saturday to check it out; since many of my students had mentioned it to me. It's located on the west side, I honestly just browsed around and took in all the sights. There is something for everyone at this location, clothes, shoes, accessories, appliances! I'm glad I got the chance to check it out, I ended up purchasing an evil eye bracelet as well as an our lady of Guadalupe bracelet. I'd visit again, especially to check out the restaurant in the back! read more

Indiana Discount Mall - Shopping Centers Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

Tacooooooooo Festtttttttt! I love the Indiana Discount Mall, but what I love more is Tavo Fest! This event is held outside of the mall, in the back/sides of the building. Taco fest happens a few times out the year, where different food trucks/vendors bring their eats to the streets, a live DJ is on the mic, various entertainment in the inside eating area, and some adult beverages at the bar. Needless to say, I've made it to several. The most recent one my family and I attended was in September. Before I attended the latest fest, I was doing dialysis and on the transplant list. So, I had to watch what I could eat and drink. Finally being able to attend a fest WITH NO LIMITATIONS was the best experience I had. Finally! I was able to have some of those biggggggg fruit non-alcoholic drinks. Man of man! I had been missing out. The vendors that offer these drinks will get more purchases from me, in the future Taco Fest's. I can't wait for the next Taco Fest. You will know of these events from the business's Facebook page. Tour the world of eats at Saraga then make your way here for quinceñera dresses, plastic floral tablecloths, washers and dryers, communion dresses, games of pool and the largest collection of illustrated Jesus t-shirts you've ever seen all find refuge under one roof. Parking is ample and rumor has it some vendors are open to haggling. One more reason to pay a visit to the culturally diverse International Marketplace neighborhood. read more

It is definitely fun. Lots of stuff. If you are looking for some random gifts for your friends birthday this place is probably it! But there are so many counterfeit items sold here- needless to say it is a federal offense. Selling them is illegal AND buying them is also illegal, so be careful. read more

If you're looking for a place that is overcrowded and mostly junk...this is your store. They do have some beautiful dresses and shoes for babies up to teens. Unfortunately, I don't need those. read more

This is a very interesting mall. Inside are lots of small store fronts - there are probably 200 some stores. The types of stores range from barbers to clothing to jewelry. The shopkeepers are almost all Latinos and Asians. We bought nothing but it was an experience people-watching and seeing what kind of merchandise they have. It's worth checking out on the weekends. read more

ICE CREAM You can get huge fluffy dresses, used DVD's or a haircut but really all you need to be getting is the ice cream at the one of two stand in the mall. There is a food service counter in the front middle with all kinds of suspect quick food counter stuff and an ice cream only stand at the north entrance. While you can get the usual like chocolate and vanilla you must must must try the queso cheese, corn, mango & chili AND TEQUILA. flavors. I really don't know how to rate this place so "A-OK" will work. I stumbled in here on day by accident and was amazed. What I saw was not what I pictured in my head when I saw the words "discount mall." It feels like markets I've been to in Mexico, Panama, and similar countries. There are rows of stalls with everything from clothing, to toys, to knick knacks, to electronics. There is even a stall with hair cutting and one with nail painting. Oh, and don't forget to shoot a few games of pool while you're there. We almost bought a lucha libre mask for our three year old nephew but it seemed a bit too expensive. Maybe we should have tried to barter as is expected in foreign markets. IDM is definitely a bit of an odd sight in Indiana but a pretty awesome place to walk up and down the aisles. read more

This place has one of the best taco festivals ! There is always multiple food trucks and they serve not only tacos but other Mexican dishes as well. I have now attended two taco festivals and I was not disappointed . Majority of the food trucks have tacos from $1.50-$2.50 depending on the type of meat and what you want on them. The best thing that is sold there is the roasted Mexican corn !!!!! It's is worth the $3. The family who runs it has this huge grill with big corn on the cob. You can get cheese and cayenne or chili pepper on it . This last time that I attended I ended up buying two lol they were that good! Way in the back there is a stand where can you can buy different type of juices. I tried a drink called Jamaica it was purple and taste like grapes, cranberries, and plums. My friend got the watermelon Fresca and she loved it . They also have a trailer that has nonalcoholic daiquiris. They have several different types of drinks you can buy in fancy cups like coconuts or giant plastic bottles. I will be attending the next taco fest . Also word of advice parking is Free but because it's is other stores in the area it was hard to find a spot close to the Indiana discount mall. Arrive early if you can. read more

Y'all play way too much in here. I came in because I saw "Discount" and who don't love a nice discount. So I was going in because I cracked the screen on my ZTE prepaid phone and I need to be able to skype with my baby because he in jail right now... well I walk in and there's hella, dusty posters on the windows. I mean I couldn't even see the store hours from all the bullshit hanging. Then I'm walking and all these bad ass lil kids running around in they church clothes with candy stains. Where are the parents??? All the daddies playing pool and not watching they kids! Then I couldn't find someone to fix my phone because y'all don't have a directory. The only thing I liked is that y'all have Louis V and Michael Kors for the low and customized grills on layaway. Tacos is cool here but the bartender in the back got an attitude and she was working with the lights off and not checking IDs. Swear I saw this lil 15 year old girl sipping on a corona while surrounded by a group of boys being a thot. Ima need y'all to fix these issues and clean up in there. All love no shade. read more

A very unique place with lots of interesting stuff, just one thing, I was walking through the aisles I notice a lot of flammable stuff like clothing, plastic toys etc, what I did not see was a fire system no extinguisher around o sprinkler system, I thing every booth should have one, also I did not see any fire alarm, or an evacuation plan ,on weekends the place is packed of people and any potential electric or other source or fire could happen . read more
