Amazing place. Not all were open on a Saturday afternoon before Memorial Day, but those that were served amazing food. Surprised to see a Caplinger's there! And that's what we got - The Platter. Same quality as the other Caplinger's around Indy. I don't think the prices were that different. The bar? Great! Nice area beer selection, cocktails, mocktails and other drinks. Tasha (sp?) was a great host, and in general, everyone made you feel welcome. A nice little secret place, hiding out in plain sight, with a great community feeling. Can't wait to visit again. When I first visited the AMP, it was full of vendors. About half of them have left. Now, there is a distant garage in the back and limited free parking. I hope some of the great restaurants will continue to survive. I tried Caplinger's recently and am giving it a 4-star review. Glad to see Healthy Soul still exists. I do not like the early closing hours, but I know businesses serve probably mostly the workers nearby; don't forget the residences near the garage. Major suggestion: If you want business, provide free parking. read more

I had a friend suggest meeting at the AMP for a late lunch. We both chose to eat at Tortilla. It was a little on the salty side, but I like salt. It is set up with a stage, so I assume there is live entertainment at times. My friend also told me they have a farmers market on Saturday mornings during the winter. There are many free parking spaces, and a paid garage for the times all the free spaces are taken. I plan to come again. read more

I am a big fan of the AMP and hope more people come to love this place. They have a nice selection of restaurants and bar and that have black owned businesses and give students a chance to get experience in the restaurant industry. I stop by about once a month because I take my son to get a haircut at black orchid this location is convenient because all the barbers he has had have done a great job and the food. 30$ may be a bit expensive for a kids haircut but even the chains cost is similar so I might as well spend the extra 5 for a great cut. My favorite place to get food from is Caplingers which is an Indianapolis staple they serve up a delicious fried catfish, shrimp, hush puppies and you have to get the greens. I have also tried out 6 of the other spots here and the food has all been solid. Vic's barbecue can be smelled before stepping in on a good day and their ribs and pulled pork are tasty will hit the spot. I also enjoyed the tacos that I have gotten from tortilla Mexican food. They were quick and fresh, don't forget the sweets i usually go in the evening so I have gotten boba from boba and everything and the cheese cake and Oreo treats from punkin's pies. read more

My family and I love visiting The Amp! So many diverse restaurants all in one place. Usually my son gets pizza and I branch out and try something new during each visit. My favorite so far has been Mambo's Cheesesteak Grill, but I want to try more like the bbq, wings, and the burger place! With time, we have become regulars here more and more - from the tangerine tomato soup and delicious salads at Llama Delicatessen to granola from Circle City Sweets and coffee from Tinker Coffee, there is no shortage of options to feast your way through this food hall. I had an especially sweet visit a week ago during the Indy Winter Farmers Market (also hosted here on Saturday mornings), in which we enjoy lunch as a family, picked up ingredients and listened to local kiddos read stories from the stage and seating area. It was so cool to watch my toddler soak in story time led by fellow local kiddos (win/win). This is a great space for hosting events, exploring with family and friends, picking up local treasures and more. I love a great far era market, and to get to attend one in the winter is amazing! This winter market at The Amp is full of food items as well as crafty things, plus eat it here now stuff as well. The atmosphere is festive and lively on any given Saturday and they have a ton of options for every taste and budget. We love some of the variety as well as the exposure to new small local businesses that we might otherwise know about in the city. We buy raw fermented sauerkraut, local honey, local produce and even some vegan spreads! Yum. The AMP is located in the 16 Tech Innovation District, which is an "innovation hub that fosters collaboration and community." The AMP serves to springboard both new and established businesses. You'll find everything from poke bowls to coffee, desserts, soups, salads, seafood, specialty PB&Js, hibachi, wings, bagels, pizza, boba tea, and more. The vendors have built shops in shipping containers, which is super fun, and there's also a lot of seating. There's a shipping container for live music in the middle, and a bar to get cocktails. Note: All of the businesses have different hours. This sometimes makes it difficult to just pop in and browse. If you want to go experience all of them, I'd recommend going on a Friday or Saturday evening, when the majority are open. read more

What a cool place! I attended an Indiana Humanities event (separate review) here. This reminds me of an old school food court with more diversity and a centralized bar. So many different food options, I guarantee you'll find something you like here. Vegan? Yep...they've got you covered (I'm gonna throw in a plug for my fav here, Burgeezy). Parking is a breeze with an adjacent garage. Pro-tip: most places here aren't open super late, some even close mid-afternoon so I'd suggest you check on the hours. I was able to find a free on street parking space at about 11:40 am. There is a pay lot but I don't know how much it is or if you can get it validated at the restaurants inside. There are other shops besides places to eat. One sells house plants. There is a stage setup for live music. The restrooms are large. It seems to me that it just has a lot more seating accommodations than The Garage. I came at the height of the lunch hour rush and there were plenty of empty tables even though there were a lot of construction workers ordering lunch. I like this place. There is a great atmosphere. It has plenty of different types of cuisine offerings. Caplinger's Fresh Catch Seafood Market and Mambo's Cheesesteak Grill were the most busy today. read more

This is a really cool space with a lot of potential. I'm excited to see how The AMP grows as the years go on. We visited on a weekend around 4 p.m., and about half of the restaurants were open. Apparently, if you want to hit all of the restaurants on a weekend, you should aim to visit after 5 p.m., because that's when many of them open. There is pretty much something for everyone here. We came here for PB&J Factory, but we also tried Frankie's pizza, Poke Guru (awesome bowls), Mambo's Cheesesteak Grill for fries, Hiatus Bar for drinks, and Boba & Everything for a boba smoothie. There are lots of food options, and the food hall is big and spacious with lots of tables, so you can find a place to sit and hang out. If you are visiting The AMP for a particular restaurant, I'd recommend checking the website (or maybe even calling?) to make sure you will be visiting when the restaurant is open. This my second visit to The AMP and it didn't disappoint. Not only were almost all the businesses were open but they were having the Winter Farmer's Market so there were a ton of vendors lined up as well. Parking was free during this event so that was a nice surprise. This time we stopped at Beast and played pinball in the Escape Pod. I wish my stomach was as big as my eyes cuz I wanted to eat one of everything. Food halls are all the rage and the AMP (Artisan Marketplace) is one of the newest additions in Central Indiana. It's housed in the old Indianapolis Water Company garage in an up-and-coming part of town. Unlike some of the other food halls, it is still largely undiscovered so it's never too busy. The busiest times are probably on the Saturdays when the farmer's market is there. The tenant occupancy is over 75% so there are plenty of food and drink options available for the smaller crowds. read more

The AMP is going to be a great addition to the Indy dining scene. As part of the 16 Tech innovation hub called HqO (which includes the 1776 workspace and Machyne makerspace), the AMP is the food hall/artisan marketplace component of the hub. The AMP is located in what used to be a service bay, and it features an open industrial feel. There are permanent stalls which feature more established vendors, and cargo containers which house newer startups to test out their concepts. The bar called hi-a-tus is managed by folks from HI-FI Indy. Going forward, there are plans for an outdoor garden which will connect to the yet-to-be-built residences of the 16 Tech district. What makes the AMP stands out is its hyper-local approach and focus on minority-owned businesses. From what I was told, the majority of the businesses are started by folks in the surrounding neighborhoods. And the cargo container idea makes it more cost effective to test and scale up a business. In addition to being a food hall/artisan marketplace, there are plans to host community events and programming at The AMP. There will be plenty of space to do just that. The logistics at 16 Tech is still evolving, but there are street parking as well as paid parking in the lot across from The AMP. read more

There's enough food selections for every palette. My favorites now are Healthy Soul and the wings spot but don't sleep on the PB&J joint that's kind of hidden. Their sandwiches are heavenly. Perfect to bring your group of friends to try multiple locations. Don't forget there's also a bar. Perfect spot for business meetings, pop up your laptop and work from day to night. I was at The AMP today for an event and I loved the space. It's massive with many different stores inside from poke bowls, salads, pizza, coffee to boba and icecreams. A lot of stores were closed by 5pm but possibly due to weekdays. I found a really good spot to street park which was convenient. The AMP has a cool outdoor area too which is great in summers. This is another nice food court in Indy. They have tons of seating, a stage that music acts can perform. They have a line up of decent food vendors and restaurants and it is still growing. Some of the restaurants and vendors include: Andres BBQ & Seafood, PB&J Factory, Frankies Pizza, Poke Guru, Mambo's Cheesesteak Grill and Circle City Sweethearts. Many of the vendors are located inside of cool and colorful shipping containers. There is a paid lot across the street or if you are lucky, you can snag one of the free two hour spots on the street. There is also an overflow lot within walking distance around the corner as well. The food court is very clean and modern. It is a cool coffee shop type of vibe. I really like this place and they have some awesome vendors. When they get into their grove, they will be open from 7AM to 10PM. However, vendors hours may still vary. That is just the hours of the food court. I highly recommend checking this place out. I am sure that you will love it and it has a lot to offer and is only getting better. read more

Well I have never been here before. I was following the progress as they were building it but never took time to stop in. Thanks to an Indy Yelp Event I had the opportunity to visit. Getting here is pretty easy, there is parking all around and many of the spots free around least during the week. Walking in is...different so there are these containers which house many of the restaurants/businesses. It looks odd from the front but once you walk beyond them you can see what the intent is. There are maybe 10-15 different businesses ranging from barbershop to sweet treat, to seafood kitchen to burgers. So lots to choose from. There is tons of seating all around so no issues there either. They have light music playing, so light I couldn't really hear the music so If you wanted to work here and take a call it might be ok. The inky thing for me is it doesn't feel very warm. The ceilings are high and it feels very open. For most probably not a big deal. It doesn't strike me as a place I would want to gather my friends and hang out. Seems more like order food, eat and get out kinda feel, but again that's just me. read more

I went here for the first time for an event. While the event was after hours, I did get to enjoy food from one of the vendors that stayed late and experience the space. Overall it has the same feel as most food halls, but also seems more well-suited for events, since the food vendors are around the perimeter and the stage and seating are in the center. I wouldn't say the space itself is anything special, but it was nice and everything was clean and in good condition. I ordered a Deluxe Philly Cheesesteak from Mambo's Cheesesteak and it was great! I'm giving this 5 stars because this a going to be a really neat place! It's very industrial and modern. Circle City Sweets is the only tenant open as of now. Tinker Coffee, Melon Kitchens are a few businesses that will be there, Frankie's Pizza Parlor's sign is already up. Construction crews were working to complete the AMP. I can't wait until all the businesses move in. It's going to great! It's located at a new place called 16 Tech Innovative District. I am all about the AMP. Less pricey and pretentious then the Garage and loads more cheap/free parking options too. I find the pop-in-ability of the Amp infinitely higher than the Garage or City Market if we're comparing Indianapolis food halls. Stop in for Tinker and Circle city Sweets in the morning, set up an appointment with Black Orchid Barbers and avoid driving to Carmel or having to park on Mass Ave, come for lunch or an early dinner and take your pick (I highly recommend Mambos, Healthy Soul, and Yamallamas), or just come for dessert - Scoopz is delicious and is open 12-8, the PB& J Factory and Punkins are delightful, also what could anyone want besides Boba & Everything (bagels) !? That's not to say it's not with its own challenges and growing pains. The hours of businesses inside vary by stall, but that lets each focus on what hours make sense for them. The space is great for casual working or meetings. There's more and more pop up events that are often fun-themed and bring in all sorts of local vendors - Plus the winter farmers market! read more

Showed up in a Saturday evening looking for food and drinks. It was pretty dead. Went to the main bar and ordered a drink of the list I was provided. No one behind the bar knew how to make the drink. It was a classic cocktail that most bartenders should know how to make (paper plane). They struggled and hemmed and hawed about making it for a while. Need I remind you, it was in the list of cocktails I was provided. Finally, I watched them make it wrong, despite my efforts to help. I took two sips. Let my g/f try it. I made my way to The Artisan Marketplace for lunch on Thursday. They have several different choices of restaurants and also a barber shop and I feel like this will be nice when they get the venue full. There is also a bar at the center of it. The other thing that's allowed me to do was to avoid the downtown traffic and construction at City Market. Everyone I interacted with in the complex were very nice and helpful. I ended up taking some goodies home from Circle City Sweets and I had a drink at Hiatus. My lunch came from Healthy Soul. I will review each of these restaurants on their own. Oh I also got some strawberries to go from Punkin's Pies. I will be back to check this place out as they grow! read more

I'm not sure how I feel about this place yet, but I'll def go back to try the full experience again. The Amp is on Indiana Ave near the IUPUI art school. This area is historically working class and majority Black, so I worry when I see a fancy spot like this open up - will it rejuvenate the area? Or are we on the road to gentrification? With the Bottleworks Garage Food Hal only 10-ish min away on the other side of downtown, I wondered this place's purpose. But it actually will be great for folks who work at the hospitals or IUPUI who want to get something different to eat or drink. What I hate is the lack of info. I found the website to be confusing. Door Dash told me Acuzar Morena was open but I couldn't see a confirmation for that on the Amp's website. So I went there and hmmm. There's a decent amount of free parallel parking but it looked like the parking lot actually cost money??? Maybe I'm wrong, I didn't go that close, but if so... This is not downtown or Mass Ave and parking should be free. Anyways, not a lot of directions online or at the site. Once I left I saw there was a map on a poster board that explained where booths were but I missed it coming in and just had to walk around to find my dear arepas. WELP it was 5pm on a Tuesday and most of the booths were CLOSED...including the one I wanted. The remaining places to eat did not interest me. There were no hours posted anywhere- in a central area or at some of the booths. I know - this place JUST opened in the last month or so. It has some awesome vendors like Tinker. So I'll totally go back but right now my impression is a 2-star but I assume it'll get better. read more

My only regret about my trip to The AMP is the fact that I was there before most business opened. I had about 90 minutes to kill between meetings this week and was looking for a (non Starbucks) coffee shop. Yelp directed me to a Tinker coffee at The AMP. I've only been to the AMP once. I actually didn't even know it existed until a couple of weeks ago. There are a decent amount of choices in this food court. There's limited free parking on Gant Street; otherwise, there's a paid/metered lot. Which, on the night I went, had ample parking. I wasn't sure how long I'd be there ... it was $3 for 2 hours. Not bad, just fyi. Accepts the ParkMobile App, too. So, it reminds me of Garage Food Hall's little sister or less sophisticated relative. I think the adjacent buildings are part of IUPUI, which makes sense as this seems more "elementary" like it might be good for a break in between classes. The overall atmosphere is a little more train containers in a big warehouse, than the more trendy industrial vibe you have at GFH. I only got food at one vendor, which I'll review separately on their page, but on the evening I was there, there were several options open, as well as some with adult beverages. About half the vendors were actually open. And another half were "coming soon". I did find out that they recently opened 3 weeks ago, so all the businesses were fairly new.
