Even worse, the pinball games which you have to pay to play (rather than being part of the door charge) are all busted in one way or another and you don't get refunds. For a dollar a game, you're gonna spend a buck on each to find out that they're all broken. It's inexcusable. It makes me sad but I won't be returning until the games are properly serviced, I can get drinks anywhere else.

What a cool place to explore right on campus!…read more I've passed the Jordan Hall Greenhouse I don't even know how many times. This place is a real hidden gem attached to Jordan Hall on 3rd Street. Parking is a pain as there is only very limited street parking, but it is totally worth it. It's a greenhouse, so it's definitely hot! Probably better visited during colder months but I ventured in during 84 degree weather and it was just fine. This place has a ton of plants to check out in rooms of various temperatures. We saw cotton plants, a pineapple tree and even got a look at Wally, the rare corpse flower that only blooms every 8-20 years. Thankfully it doesn't last long so we didn't smell that stench! I had a great time going between the different temperatures... it was fun to go from the dessert to the tropics in just a few steps. It's definitely a must visit in Bloomington if you love plants!

The paid staff is very minimal. 95% of those that run the Buskirk are volunteers. We drive to keep arts and entertainment alive in this busy society. I live its nonprofit nature, but my favorite part of the Buskirk is its diversity. From top shows like Rufus Wainwright to local shows like the Bloomington Symphony all the way to niche shows like Pride Film Festival or Rocky Horror...the Buskirk has it all.

There are lots of great eateries within walking distance including Uptown Cafe, Farm, Trojan Horse and Osteria Ragu. Try out a sweet treat at the chocolate shop next door or a classic Chocolate Moose Ice Cream cone. Just strolling the charming downtown after an event is very date worthy. The goal of the event it to get people (especially new IU students) to know about the many independent restaurants that are located next to campus. A great concept and a fun event. What is Great: 1) Music - the live world music was great! 2) Food - I loved being able to try items that I had not had before, I trying new items at old favorite restaurants will greatly increase my patronage as I know more of what I can get, move craves = more visits, 3) Restaurant Entry - I liked that for some of the restaurants, you had to enter the building to go to the food - it was a good mix of on the street and in the restaurant, 4) Beer/Wine Tent - I didn't patron it but it looked like they had a nice selection, 5) Safety - the organizers did a great job laying out an emergency plan, there was a brief note on the 'program' to let us all know what to do in the event of a emergency - rad, 6) Volunteers - I feel like I spotted a lot of event volunteers - and volunteers make every event better! Room for Improvement: 1) Better Name - I heard a LOT of people referring to this as '4th Street Fest' - which is a completely different event entirely - there is a branding issue here - I think words like 'international' and 'independent' are more important than the location, 2) Ticket Price - I understand that the point of this event is to get students to know about the restaurants but with an entry of $5 for students and a whopping $10 for everybody else, the price bias is just crazy - I think the double fee for those who are not students is a great way to make enemies, I mean, you are basically asking non-students to not come...which is crazy, 3) Participation - I was a little bummed out that some of the restaurants didn't participate, 4) Marketing - I could have used a Facebook event or just more direct awareness coming from the BIRA FB page.

They have a bubble room! It's awesome. A place where you can parachute little figure people over and over again. Shoot I laid down on a bed of nails once here. They have a huge climbing vine that you can climb all the way up to the second floor. But, you have to climb back down it doesn't exit on that floor. They have a cool water science area for kids complete with rain gear - which is optional do what you want ha. It's just a cool place. It's not too big and it's not too small. It the perfect sized science museum. They have the coolest gift shop! I still have my Wonderlab water bottle from years ago. If you've never been make a day of it!

The film quality is great, especially because it gets so dark out in the wooded area. You can always see a sky full of stars while the movies are playing (shooting stars have been seen)! Everything is affordable, all soda drinks and popcorn sizes have endless refills, and as you can see in the photo, you really don't need a refill if you get a large!! I highly recommend visiting for some movies if you get the chance.

My days of going to the Bluebird 2-3 times a week are long behind me, but as I was attending a show…read morethis weekend, I realized I have never done a Yelp review, and since it's potentially the best bar on the planet, I decided I needed to correct that oversight. During my college years, a good portion of my Bloomington memories are from the Bluebird. Fantastic bands, good friends and a somewhat aggressive number of drinks were the common theme multiple nights a week. Now that I'm OLD(er) the visits are less frequent, but when the right bands are in town and my calendar isn't slammed with adulting, I still find the Bird to be my favorite place in town. The original Bluebird was about half the size it is today. Several years ago, they bought out the restaurant next door and added a large additional space, leading to a pretty big bar/nightclub with a 'bar area' that includes a nice full bar, booths and tables, and the 'live music' portion which has a big stage, plenty of room for big crowds, and a warehouse vibe that is second to none. When you arrive, you'll start to see pictures of the amazing acts that run thru the Bluebird when they're just on the cusp of being 'huge' - from REM to Miranda Lambert to Gryffin, just about every genre is represented and it's nice to say 'I saw them with a few hundred of my friends' after you give ticketmaster your kidney to pay for their giant stadium shows. Reasonable drink prices, good people behind the bar, and the best bands currently playing the area, you can't go wrong with a night at the Bluebird. I wish I was still young and able to do multiple shows every week, but for now I'll just appreciate having it in my backyard so I can attend with the mood hits . Best bar in Bloomington.
