With the butterflies being there (April 2021), I decided to go check it out with my niece. There was a wait to get into the butterfly room, but it moved fairly quickly. You were required to wear a mask inside. The rules for the butterfly room are pretty basic: stay on the paths, don't touch the plants, don't touch the butterflies, and don't freak out if a butterfly lands on you--let it do it's thing. The butterflies were fun to watch flutter around. There were an assortment of types. I liked the ones with blue wings best. I think my niece and I spent about 10 minutes in the butterfly room. It was a little crowded and we didn't go to the upstairs portion. Next we went outside to the outdoor gardens. It was still early Spring, so I imagine they're even more impressive when the leaves are back on the trees and things start growing more. Still, it was really lovely to walk the paths a bit. White River Gardens was a nice slice of nature in a city setting. I'll be back to explore more later!

Parking at that time isn't great, but most people are at the adjacent Indianapolis Zoo. There used to be a separate admission for White River Gardens. Now it is included in the fee to get in the zoo. (We have a membership. Today I came to the garden and never was asked to show my card - maybe I did something abnormal??) I really enjoy the gardens - both inside and out. I will say though that the outside is getting a little tired looking. I also know I just visited after some really hot days and during COVID. Still, I find it peaceful. I like sitting I. Yew Dell Botanical Gardens has been on my list of places to visit near Louisville for a while now…read more Last night I had the chance to go for the last Friday of the month Happy Hour/Farmer's Market. Admission was free, though I'd absolutely pay the $12 to visit again and spend more time wandering. Everything is really well maintained and labeled. This is a beautiful place! There's a fairy garden, perfect for kids and anyone else to walk through. There's a cafe with a great balcony overlooking lots of greenery. There's such a lovely variety of trees and flowers. There are benches adequately scattered around the gardens so you can easily find a nice place to sit and soak it all in.

The community events they offer are such a treasure, and the rotating exhibits make every visit feel like the first time. I feel so lucky to live close by to have access to this amazing place. The staff is very friendly. Admission is $25. Some of the art I dug and some I didn't, but there was a dark room with a video board ceiling that showed a video of the moon and stars on the ceiling that is captivating. I could have sat there for 15 minutes and just gazed at the ceiling. It was beautiful and peaceful.

Beautiful weather, surprisingly light attendance, and we honestly saw less than half of the animals we were "supposed" to see. What we did see was beautiful gardens, well-marked paths, and lots of OPPORTUNITIES to see animals!! Beautiful place, TONS to do AND see... Truly something for everyone, young and old!! Easy parking, reasonable prices, GREAT info... What's not to love?!?

The zoo is a very wide variety of animals from elephants to penguins to lions as well as a cheetah and warthog! They also have a rhino, monkeys and all types of birds. Each exhibit has plenty of viewing area and description placards. My favorite the ocean and plains area. The penguins and rhinos were so awesome to see close up. Overall I'd recommend the zoo to any Indian resident or visitor . They also have plenty of food and drink options including wine and beer.

I had the chance to explore this place while traveling to the area and it was really interesting to learn about the history of medicine and medical research that took place in the early 20th century. I love how everything in the museum is exactly the same as it was back in the 1940s so I felt like I was able to get a taste of what really happened back then. The tour guide was knowledgeable about all of the various rooms, equipment, and displays. I took a self-guided tour of their medicinal garden on the side of the building and it was really cool to learn about the ways that these herbs have been and are currently being used for holistic treatments.
