Hotel Indigo in Liverpool is a rather nice hotel in Liverpool, which is classed as a four star hotel.
I came here while in Liverpool looking to grab something to eat at the restaurant attached, which is a Marco PIerre White Steakhouse and Grill, I had a great meal and awarded four stars, as I had to take a tour through Hotel Indigo to get here, I thought I'd review here too as MPW was only inside here.
Indigo is actually owned by the IHG, the InterContinental Hotel Group who also own all forms of the Holiday Inn chain, and also own Crowne Plaza. Indigo are a reasonably large chain, across four continents with 11 branches in the UK alone with branches in York, Newcastle and Birmingham to name a few, as well as this one in Liverpool of course.
The location for a hotel wasn't great, it was a decent walk from Liverpool city centre.
Distance to:
Anfield - 2.5 miles
Liverpool One - 1/2 a mile
Lime Street - 1 mile
Moorfields - 0.2 miles
Goodison Park 2.5 miles
Liverpool Airport - 10 miles
As you can see this probably isn't in the best place so you are going to have to walk slightly to get where you're going, but there are pros and con's to this, it can be good as you're away from it being so noisy within the city, but it's bad as the distance you'd have to travel, just to get closer to the city centre, or from the train station or airport which could be quite difficult with luggage.
The design of Indigo is quite unique, it is nice and does stand out, there is a big board with a menu for MPW as you walk in, making it seem like some sort of partnership as I know various other MPW restaurants are based in IHG hotels, such as his New York Italian and my local home in Media City in Manchester.
There was an issue with the lift on my visit, so I had to walk all the way around to the other side to get into the MPW grill mainly down to a problem with Indigo which was a shame.
The staff seemed friendly enough, to get a rough idea at the pricing I looked online for the dates 11/1 to 18/1 which were only a few weeks away to get an average of £75 which is quite cheap especially for a hotel within reasonable distance of Liverpool centre and one that seems nice too.
Overall, this is probably one of the better places to stay in Liverpool if you don't mind being a bit further away, otherwise the Hilton which is basically inside the One would be your best bet, or the Marriott Hotel at St John's, otherwise this is okay, it is nice, it is above average and worthy of at least three stars. read more
