No Dogs Left Behind - Monty adopted from NDLB

Those of us who support Jeff understand that extraordinarily few people could undertake this kind of rescue effort under the most dire of circumstances and maintain their sanity. But Jeff emerges intact and more committed than ever to ending the dog-meat trade once and for all. He is made of better stuff, as is his team. Not all heroes wear capes.

NDLB is an incredible 501(c) (3) non-profit and their global mission of rescuing dogs and cats from immense suffering and complete abandonment, along with their exceptional care and concern for each survivor (no matter the gravity of each animal's injuries), is nothing short of outstanding. The dog we happened to adopt is a Japanese Akita Inu and happens to go by the name Romeo because he happened to be saved from slaughter on Valentine's Day (on February 14, 2020). The founder of NDLB , Jeff Beri, and his crew actually risked their lives twice to save our dog. Once (due to the strict Covid-19 Restrictions in China at that time and a second time to challenge the people who were about to slaughter him). I personally found all of the NDLB staff I interfaced with during the adoption process very personable and easy to connect with. More importantly, I found the staff demonstrated great care and concern for their animals throughout the adoption process. While waiting for Romeo's freedom flight to New York, we received multiple videos and photo's along with ongoing communication from the NDLB Chinese staff who were with him daily. The New York staff made sure I (along with my husband), understood all the possible challenges that came with adopting a dog from overseas and wanted to make sure we were up for this type of challenge. All I can say is Romeo has completely changed our family's life. Our family over the years has had three dogs. Romeo was our first overseas adoption, by far, he is the most considerate dog we have ever had the pleasure of owning, and is always looking out for our well-being. One last positive has been, over the past months, being able to maintain on going contact with Romeo's team in China, and being able to send photos and videos of him here having all sorts of fun in the USA. (See Romeo enjoying sunbathing below).

Since people without power and without internet did not know about the cupcakes not many people got cupcakes. People ares starving and sick and cold and The Red Cross gives out cup cakes with the millions of dollars they got from donations. http://www.ny1.com/content/politics/ny1_political_itch/171519/ny1-blog--ny1-s-bob-hardt-reports-on-sandy-from-rockaway-beach http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/11/28/shame-on-the-red-cross-how-they-ve-failed-on-sandy-relief.html Thanks to Occupy Sandy Solar paneled trucks came into the Rockaways, http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/queens/solar-power-watt-rockaways-article-1.1209817 I am trying my best to keep this as short as possible. There is so much to cover, the pets of Sandy, kids carnivals, and all kinds of things that Occupy Sandy is doing. But for the purposes of Yelp i will keep it short and just post the link if you want more info. http://interoccupy.net/occupysandy/ That link is good if you want to volunteer too. Here is a link to a call to action from the city. http://interoccupy.net/occupysandy/2012/12/bloombergs-stealth-visit/ Finally to donate money to Occupy Sandy because they are in Rockaway and they are doing more than just giving out cupcakes here is the link. https://www.wepay.com/donations/492531958 Yelp took down a review I did for a cancer charity and the money goes directly to the patients. Cruel and heartless as that is to the cancer patients who benefit from funds coming in, I would not be surprised if Yelp takes this down too. The Rockaways are STILL without power, heat food water medical help or shelter except for what Occupy Sandy is doing. The only mailing address listed for mailing at the occupy Sandy web site is in DC. Occupy Sandy/AfGJ Alliance for Global Justice 1247 E. St, SE Washington, DC 20003 They also created a "wedding registry" so you can donate specific items that are needed. They are doing a phenomenal job! This coming Saturday December 15th Occupy Sandy is holding a call to Action. See the web site for further information. The reason this is focused on Far Rockaway is it has been left alone and all of the celebrities and relief orgs are going to other hard hit areas. Saturday is the call to cation by the city, see the pictures I posted which are posters for the event. This is why they claim we pay taxes yet volunteers are spending all of their money and time with little to no Government help. Occupy Sandy was invited to meet president Obama. The president does not know what is going on because he was only "allowed" to fly over Rockaway. Pretty soon he will know!
