I booked a networking event at the Lansdowne location in Ottawa. We had the upstairs to ourselves, and were about 15 for dinner, with more arriving later to join us for drinks. I had the Cesar salad and Carnivoro pizza.....DELICIOUS. I could only eat half the pizza because the free focaccia bread (made in house) is to die for!!!! We chose Indústria because it was the only restaurant with availability. This is never a good sign and this turned out to be the case. We were seated quickly and were served quickly with drinks and a yummy appetizer of spinach dip. We then ordered our mains. Instead of Salmon we received Calamari. The waiter was adamant she heard Salmon. She did not do the normal of repeating back to us what we ordered. We then waited the best part of an hour for our mains to arrive. Which were OK. This place is gorgeous on the inside with lots of seating space. The food itself was a solid good. Not bad but wasn't blown away. The ravioli was pretty standard. It was the portion size that threw me off. I felt the portion for my dish specifically wasn't big. My friend who also got a pasta dish felt the same but then another friends dish was a decent portion size. I'm visiting Ottawa with my 5-year-old son for a week. When I saw this pizzeria I thought it looked like a place I might end up eating numerous times during our visit. The staff is really nice. I ordered a cheese pizza with no sauce (I was very clear about there being no sauce) for my son who won't eat anything else. I ordered a ceasar salad with no croutons for myself--all to go. The restaurant was very slow, and so we waited about 15 minutes for the food--no problem. The server brought it out and I paid and tipped nearly 30% without checking the order before bringing it back to my hotel. Back in my hotel, I open the pizza and it was full of red sauce. My son refused to eat a bit. I open the salad and it's not a salad but rather a salad dressing soup with a few lettuce and pancetta garnishes. Pretty gross. Major disappointment. Ok. I have had many pizzas in my life . I tried pizza in a lot of different places worldwide. Plus I'm Italian ... So I know a thing or two about Pizza. I only ate a pizza at Industria. My party had pasta and other items. Pizza is ok. Not quite the same as Anthony's let's say (that as of today is the best authentic pizzeria in Ottawa, hands down). However still decent and very tasty. I usually judge pizza from the flavours of the Margherita. To try the consistency of the dough, the right sweetness of the tomato sauce (la salsa) and the right acidity of the olive oil. Then of course you can tell just from looking at it if they used the right mozzarella that should be the "fior di latte" type or the "bufala" for some pizzas. I will need to try a few more items to wrote a final review but for now I'd say this place is decent and has a great location. Will go back for sure. read more

Great service and a very cool atmosphere are highlights of Industria. The restaurant feels immense with its high ceilings and depth. White washed brick ceilings give it its industrial name and the golden scissors used to work your own pizza fit the theme. A cross between traditional Italian style and modern haut-couture fashion make this a delight to visit. The food is less impressive, but still good. We had the Margherita pizza and it was large, doughy and fresh. The downside was that the basil should have been sparser and more spread out. The pizza wasn't the ideal temperature either. Still nice that the kitchen is visible and open. Cheap wine M through F is a plus. A solid experience that makes you feel fancy, but the food needs a few upgrades. read more

Service wise, at first I found the waitress very friendly but then she would come every five minute to ask if she can take our plates away when we still had 25-40% of food left. Got there at 08:10 we're out at 09:20. Waiter and manager were cleaning the place in front of us at 08:50. Appetizers and main course arrived together. A first for me! Waiter's excuse: they were both ready in the kitchen so I brought them over. Both were cold. After complaining the response was "Sorry 'bout that..." Expensive wine list for a pizzeria. $40 house wine. Good calamari but cold. Pizza, very plain and cold. Had desert, good Nutella tart. But didn't finish it, they were refusing customers at the door... They could have offered dessert after all but no. Bill came to $95!!! Never again. There are too many good restaurants in Ottawa-Gatineau that do their best to please their customers. They are the one that deserve our patronage not places like this who don't give a damn. read more

We went to a Redblacks game on a Saturday night and were scrambling to find any restaurant to seat our group of 5 an hour before the game. We got lucky with this place. We had phenomenal service from Emily V. and the rest of the staff (bar tenders, hostess, etc.). They were extremely attentive and courteous. We also didn't have to wait too long for anything and made it to the game on time :) The drinks and food were delicious and fresh too. We ordered a pitcher of sangria (YUM!), Beet salada, lobster tacos and calamari to start as well as ortalana, carnivore and salsiccia pizzas. My husband and I went for the happy hour / half prize appetizers after work one day and before heading off to the movies nearby. We thought that since it was a half prize appetizer deal, we'd be limited into what we could order but we were wrong! There was plenty to choose from and since they were cheap, we ended up trying quite a few of them (and $4 house wine). We had the meatballs, calamari, lobster tacos, grilled shrimp, beef tartare and cheese sticks. They were ALL delicious. I happen to like the decor and the music. I was served by a Noella and she was cheery and very attentive as were all the team that greeted and served us. So any smiles. It was not busy but this place will be hopping as people experience it. Would be a great place to get a group together. Now we came for the food and that was the big test. Had the pizza and loved it. Warning... If you are the the type that's likes gooey super thick dough piled high with fixing that is pushed by places as pizza you may be disappointed . I was a part of a large group celebrating a friend's bon voyage last Friday night here. They had reserved the upstairs to accomodate the about 30 people that would be attending throughout the evening. Our server, Lauren ( I wrote her name down in my phone to remember) was extremely attentive and friendly. At one point, I had asked her if anyone else was on the party with her and she said she only had a couple of helpers bring up food. Needless to say, I was so impressed with how she could give such great service to that many people while also remaining calm, cool and collected. On to the food, I was trying to stay away from pizza (my entire table of 6 all ordered individual pizzas that they raved about) so I opted for the Gnoochi poutine. Although I found the serving size on the stingy side, I was happy with it by the end because the dish was so rich and full of flavour. The party raged on for about 3 hours with people popping in and out. I did not see one complaint or issue with anyone's orders, so I gave this restaurant a 5 star for my first visit and experience here. I would definitely recommend it even if you are not looking to reserve a large party! read more

It's Wednesday in Ottawa in winter! Sadly the place was empty tonight but we had a nice time anyway. Beautiful decor and well set up for large groups. A++ for decor and ambiance. We had some sharing plates and drinks. Pork maple lollipops, calamari and lobster tacos were delicious. Calamari was tender. Lobster tacos recommended. We also had gnocchi poutine. Unfortunately, the gnocchi was overdone, dark in color and chewy. We mentioned this to our server who basically just nodded and smiled. That was the only fail of the evening. Everything else was nice. Wine and beer selection was good and well priced. Deals between 4 and 7 pm are nice too. We also ordered prosciutto and arugula pizza. It was large enough to share between 4 ladies after the appetizers. Nice place. Check it out! read more

We originally came all the way down here to eat at Jack Astor's. Instead, we decided to try this place which had a much more promising menu. We should have clued in when we saw how completely empty it was compared to the other places in Lansdowne that were packed beyond capacity... They can sit probably over 300 people but they barely had 3 tables. They'll probably go out of business soon. But anyway I'll quit rambling. So what are they? Quite frankly, I'm not sure. They're Italian. I get that. But an Italian brasserie! What is that? Newspeak for overpriced sports bar? Their menu also speaks of sfizi, without any further explanations. The servers say they're Italian tapas. But sfizi in Italian only means whimsy and it's not "a thing" gastronomically. While the premises are amazingly spacious and beautiful, I found the atmosphere to be quite dull and austere, with a touch of over-the-top sports bar. There's also this weird huge "fresco" thing on the ceiling with words like "laugh, eat, drink" but besides that, there is absolutely no ambiance whatsoever. I did find the service extremely slow as well. Especially since we were pretty much the only customers. Probably doesn't help that they have to walk half a mile to get from the kitchen to the tables at the front! It was also very weird that our server came to our table to ask for drinks only to get immediately replaced without explanation by another one that brought us the wrong drinks. We did see our former server walk around our section serving other tables so I really don't know what was up with that... We'll never know. Anyway, on to the food. It was. Blah. With a side of freshly out of a shaker "Parmesan" powder. We had decided to go with the sfizi because why not? We ordered four of them: nuclear tasteless arancini (in lieu of the rapini that they ran out of, yes they RAN OUT of rapini... Wtf?), crumbly tiny meatballs (that were in all fairness otherwise tasty although probably frozen at some point), a very good beet salad with a little too much dressing and crispy calamari which to my surprised look rather fresh and tasted nice. We finished it off with what was sold to us as a Nutella pizza with ricotta cheese. We were like "OMG this is gonna be great". We couldn't have been more wrong! We got instead a deep fried sponge completely soaked in oil with a turd-shaped dollop of ricotta in the centre and a drizzle of Nutella all over. I couldn't do it. I had two small bites and I was done. I was genuinely expecting a piece of baked dough. I explained that to the server and she took it off the check. That was a nice gesture. But that's pretty much the only positive thing tonight. I won't go back unless I'm constrained. read more

Honestly, never had worst service in entire life... we walked in and were the ONLY people in the building. The employees looked disinterested and annoyed at our presence. When we finally got seated, I ordered a calamari and a drink to start. The employees mingled and we waited a half an hour before we were acknowledged again. We went there last week for a friend birthday. the decor was great and loved the music. Unfortunately 1 person out of 9 liked their meal! Make were not served at the same time nor was it close to eachother I.e chicken parmigiana came out 25 minutes after the rest and had Burnt edged. This pizza is basically a big mac (secret sauce included) on a flat bread crust. If i wanted a big mac. I would have gone to McDonalds and gotten a soda and side if fries for a 1/3 the price. Seriously, what genius came up with this and thought it would be a good idea? How can you take a classic fast food joint's flagship burger recipe, put it on a crust and make it your signature pizza? Been here with my husband and we didn't quite like the high seating (all chairs and tables on the lower floor were elevated and was not very comfortable). The decor must have been great when it opened, but large decoration pieces hanging from the ceilings look very dusty and might have never been cleaned. I had the steak which was perfect, the breaded chicken breast my husband ordered was even better (came hotter than my steak) so no complaints about the food. The second floor that was visible from where we were seated have normal chairs, so perhaps making a reservation ahead of time to be seated upstairs would be more beneficial - especially if you're short, or don't like bar-like seating like me. read more

This place is an extremely poor excuse for Italian food, actually probably more of an insult. Came here for drinks and a few appetizers. Drink menu is pretty good but the food was absolutely awful. Extremely small portions with zero flavour. I got the bruschetta and the arrancini, two traditional Italian dishes that were butchered by the kitchen. Would never return and would definitely warn others not to either. It's all style and nothing else. I went there to try it out for my birthday. The restaurant is cold (temperature). I could see pas the gimmicks (ct your pizza with scissors) if the food was amazing. It wasn't. We had to ask for desert menus. Then as we were half way through desert (8:40is) the waiter came by to say that he was one for the nigh and the the restaurant was closing at 9. Can we cash out now. It would be great to finish the desert first (or be close) before being pushed out the door. We asked to finish first. When the waiter was at the service station he didnt even look our way and didn't come by after. as we waited, hoping he would come by,the music gradually went from talkable to heading towards club volume. By the tie we went to chase down the waiter we could barely hear each other. Our waiter first and foremost wanted to go home, as did the rest of the staff. Not impressed! Went in there with a big appetite and with high expectations based on the location and the layout of the restaurant. After ordering a stale glass of wine and a flavourless salad I realized I had to leave that place instantly!!! Horrible , terrible , awful, I believe the owners name is also Joanne based on the ridiculous prices! Went here maybe a year and a half ago. Food took forever and when we got it it was raw. I could understand if it was a busy night mistakes happen but there were 6 people eating. How do you mess up chicken and fish. Those are the two meats you have to cook properly. Haven't been back since. Not sure how they are still open. Everyone I know who has been there has the same story, raw food, cold food, or burned food. Sometimes all three. Had high hopes, looked like a nice place to eat. The manager was not helpful or apologetic about our meal. Gave us a staff/family discount of 10% on a 60$ meal. It's the "most" they could give. We were so appalled we paid and left. Save your money and go to any of the other places at Landsdowne. When they screw up they fully comp the meal and own up to their mistakes. read more

This place is great. I went twice and both times I was there we got a table fairly quickly. I love the fact if you go before 7 the apps are cheaper. With the exception of them not having the wine I wanted, everything before dinner was good- the alternate wine suggestion and my appetizer- I ordered the Arancini. For dinner I ordered Pollo Alla Parmigiana- when it arrived there was barely any pasta on my plate, it took awhile for someone to finally come, the waitress didn't understand what was wrong so she got the manager and he didn't say much at all. When my replacement came out the pasta was not cooked and the chicken was dry and burnt, I sent it back. They were serving their happy hour menu where we all ordered almost everything off that selection (arancinis, calamari, lamb chops, lobster tacos, pork belly, grilled shrimp, gnocchi poutine etc). We also tried the industria pizza since it sounded interesting. Overall the food was pretty good for the happy hour prices! The pizza was lacking flavour but we enjoyed the dough. Keep in mind the food here doesn't make you think you're in an authentic italian resto but more of a fusion resto. We did like the atmosphere and selection of music as it was very fitting for the venue. We only wished our waitress treated us the same as others by serving fresh bread and providing pizza condiments like other tables. My wife and daughter and I went to Industria on Labour Day just before 6:30pm. We were very excited because the restaurant is beautiful inside. That initial impression is where the excitement stopped. There were no occupied tables inside and the patio was half full (around 20 patrons total) yet we waited 5 minutes for a hostess to notice us and seat us. We were there with our one year old and I told the hostess it's very important that we get a high chair ASAP because she was being fussy and she always calms down in a chair. She told us no problem, the server will bring it when she comes. We sat on the patio and waited fifteen minutes for our server. No high chair. I told her 'i'm sorry but it's really important that we get a high chair right away'. She quickly took our order and disappeared for another ten minutes. At that point we had to walk away, we had been at the (nearly empty) restaurant for half an hour and hadn't gotten the high chair, a drink, or anything. Too bad! read more
