    The Margherita

Great service and a very cool atmosphere are highlights of Industria. The restaurant feels immense with its high ceilings and depth. White washed brick ceilings give it its industrial name and the golden scissors used to work your own pizza fit the theme. A cross between traditional Italian style and modern haut-couture fashion make this a delight to visit. The food is less impressive, but still good. We had the Margherita pizza and it was large, doughy and fresh. The downside was that the basil should have been sparser and more spread out. The pizza wasn't the ideal temperature either. Still nice that the kitchen is visible and open. Cheap wine M through F is a plus. A solid experience that makes you feel fancy, but the food needs a few upgrades.

    Pork belly burger

The gnocchi poutine was definitely special. Gnocchi instead of fries, with a distinctive gravy. It won't leave you wanting more but for the adventurous foodies, it breaks the routine. So is there pork belly burger. The meat is not as tender as it should be, minimal aioli sauce and their fries will not put mcdonald but yes, special... Service wise, at first I found the waitress very friendly but then she would come every five minute to ask if she can take our plates away when we still had 25-40% of food left. Average food + average service but a good option if you are in lansdowne park already and do not want to wait an hour at Joey's or Local.

    Beef Tartare

My husband and I went for the happy hour / half prize appetizers after work one day and before heading off to the movies nearby. We thought that since it was a half prize appetizer deal, we'd be limited into what we could order but we were wrong! There was plenty to choose from and since they were cheap, we ended up trying quite a few of them (and $4 house wine). We had the meatballs, calamari, lobster tacos, grilled shrimp, beef tartare and cheese sticks. They were ALL delicious. Definitely worth going if you're looking to sample some foods before the movies and not spend too much. Definitely interested in trying out their main foods after this visit.

I happen to like the decor and the music. I was served by a Noella and she was cheery and very attentive as were all the team that greeted and served us. So any smiles. It was not busy but this place will be hopping as people experience it. Would be a great place to get a group together. Now we came for the food and that was the big test. Had the pizza and loved it. Warning... If you are the the type that's likes gooey super thick dough piled high with fixing that is pushed by places as pizza you may be disappointed . However 9 you get the real napoli concept of za..... You will enjoy. The their version of cypress salad and the meatball apply. All very light and fresh. We will be back.

We went on a Monday when they had an offer on the appetizers... I ordered the beef brisket poutine but wasn't expecting it to be this big so also ordered the pizza. The poutine was well worth it for the price and the pizza came very close to being authentic Italian.

We waited 1.5 hours for our food. No exaggeration. Brutal service. Food was ok. Way better Italian available in the city.

The gnocchi was a bit over done. There were parts when it felt hard and overcooked. The poutine was satisfactory. Do not expect a gourmet meal because it does feel a bit of a cafeteria feel to it. One positive point is the coffee. They brewed it just right.

Trouble was, nobody found their way there. It was like the private dining room for museum administrators. Now they have moved into the main building - beside the coffee shop with a patio on Laurier and re-branded as Café du Musée. First off, I would never have thought of this place without Ottawa's real food expert, Anne de Brisay. Check out her http://www.capitaldining.ca/ blog. We went for a 'dress-up' lunch on a beautiful summer day. I called ahead but it was not necessary. The place was not exactly swamped. Service was excellent. A very attentive young man who knew the menu well (in English and French) and made some excellent wine recommendations. The interior is evocative of the stone/steel/undulating riverbanks as walls theme that the rest of the museum enjoys. It worked. Nice, modern clean lines. It didn't feel like you were eating at the family snack bar, even though the Imax theatre was 50 yards away. The menu could be called scaled-down fine dining (?) Farm to table, local ingredients, extremely well prepared by a chef of some skill (formerly of Cafe Henry Burger, I understand). Bread was excellent - a couple of different kinds - one was a dried cranberry thingy (a bit sweet for me), the other was a whole wheat with just a hint of molasses. I tried the cauliflower and oka cheese soup. Delightful and creamy. Great balance of flavours. Oka (for foreign readers) is Canada's version stinky but good-tasting local cheese. Instead of a large main course, I had the east coast crab cake. it was a good sized cake of smoked salmon and shrimp on a puree of celeriac. Very nice and just right for lunch. My husband had the arugula, goat cheese, and cranberry salad. Three ingredients, very tasty. His main was the bison with chanterelles and fingerling potatoes. I tried a bit and it seemed nice but I am not a bison fan. Good espresso and crème brulée trio to finish. Best of the trio was the chocolate, though being chocolate probably violates some crème brulée code. Would definitely go back when feeling spendy.
