One of the most negative experiences of my travel life. I checked in and was shown to a decent room. It was warm outside, but the hvac system was inoperable at the time, so the room was 80+ degrees. They showed me a couple other tooms that were also 80 degrees and did not have any operable hvac system. Because the rooms were literally defective, I told them I needed to find a new hotel, and they agreed to give me a refund apologetically. However, no refund was ever given. When my travel agent contacted them for the refund, the hotel declined to give my money back -- effectively stealing $500 from me -- claiming that the rate was nonrefundable. Quite a scam! This place absolutely sucks. Nobody should ever consider staying there. I would rather sleep on the street than give them a cent of my money. read more

10/10 experience. We were immediately greeted by the nicest staff member who checked us in. They gave us a room upgrade to a suite because we were here for our honeymoon. The suite was beautiful and we walked into rose petals, a bottle of champagne, and macaroons out for us. Such a sweet touch!! The staff member who checked us in also gave us great food recommendations and explained the different neighborhoods to us so we had a better idea of the layout of the city. The location is also so great, especially if it is your first time like us! Quick walk to all the major stuff and right next to a trolley stop for further away attractions. Lovely hotel just a couple blocks from the Centraal train station. The rooms are lovely and simply designed with a work space, refrigerator, safe, tv with cable, closet, lovely robe, and the bed and linens are very comfortable. Nice shower with handheld and rain shower. Coffee and teas as well. I appreciate that you can decline having your room cleaned for eco reasons. If only they would switch from small plastic bottles of shampoo and conditioner to larger refillable ones. The restaurant has very good food and they were very accommodating to my gluten allergy. And my room had a lovely view even on a rainy day. I'll be back next summer when I'm back in Amsterdam. read more

This hotel was AMAZING! We came into Amsterdam late night as the last stop on our 10 day trip and even though it was late and he was on the second part of a double shift, Rob, one of the managers, was AMAZING! He was really nice and funny and a great way to be greeted after a long day. We were given a room, but needed to change it and he was able to do it with no problem. What I also think is really cool about the MGallery Hotels are that they have this "Inspired by Her" thing they do that caters some things to women who travel. Little touches or things like smaller robes, slippers, healthier menu options and certain toiletries and little extras meant for women. I asked about it and was lucky enough to have a goodie bag put together of items like a scrub mitt, nail polish removing pads, eye remover pads, lip balm and more! :) It was such a wonderful treat and made the already cool and comfortable room even more enjoyable. The rooms are really cool too. They feature artwork by a local artist who published a book of his drawings of Amsterdam and it's on the walls of the room. What is cool is that it's one entire sheet rolled onto the wall. The history of the area and the name and theme of the "INK" hotel are also so cool so try to get those fun facts if you can. There is a restaurant and we read that the breakfast was amazing, but unfortunately we were never up early enough to enjoy haha.. just for staying, you also get a discount off per person for breakfast. The hotel looks small and you almost miss it from the outside, but once you walk in, it's such a cool vibe like you're still outside. The rooms are luxurious without feeling pretentious. The bed is plush, the toiletries are plentiful, you get robes/slippers and complimentary tea, coffee and water replaced daily. They have tons of pens and paper for you to jot down notes and they give you a cute carry tote to bring around the city and then take home! There are items from the room for sale if you're interested in bringing anything home. We got the map of Amsterdam drawings among other things and are so happy we did. Ron was so great and helpful throughout our entire stay. We were lucky enough to catch him a few times and when we left as well. We loved Amsterdam and wish we had more time. Hotel was clean and in a prime location. I remember the toilet and shower area was not separated well. We adjoined rooms with our kids and there isn't much privacy. We didn't utilize the restaurant or bar but it was a good spot to stay. The front desk was helpful with car services but we were fairly self sufficient and only used the hotel as a place to sleep/rest. read more

Great location, and in the spirit of Amsterdam, you can walk or bike anywhere from here. It's a very modern and clean hotel. I also like its quirky style and character throughout; you can actually buy tattoo packages too! They also gave two welcome drinks, which were nice! We initially had a room with a broken air conditioner which the staff was quick to respond and relocated us to a new room. It was a bit of a hassle to have unpacked everything and have to pack it all back up to unpack again. Also one major downside was their shower door didn't closer properly, so our sink area was flooding. On my second shower, I was basically holding the door close while washing my hair. I don't know if all of the shower doors are like this but I wasn't trying to change rooms again, so I just kept on with it. read more

My rating would be a five EXCEPT - we had an early flight and so I asked the desk person if they could order a cab for us. We could walk to the train, but taxi to the airport was said to be 20 to 25 Euro. At six am our "cab" is there, except it is a town car and it cost over 65 euro before a tip. I would never stay here again. We requested early check-in as we were come from the US and paid ahead for it on the website. When we got there they said they could not accommodate this, they didn't charge us but they shouldn't offer it when making a reservation if it they can't do it. Linda at check-in was very unfriendly and we found her to be very disinterested in helping us. We asked when she thought it might become available - her answer was "No". Curt and dismissive. She said she would call us when the room became available. We headed out to check out the city. We went back a couple hours later and lo and behold, the room was ready and she had never called us. A polite person would have asked us if we would like to enjoy breakfast in the dining room. We knew we would pay which would make total sense and we knew that, but she didn't even offer that we go to the restaurant. She let us sit in the lobby thinking the room would be ready soon, and she never bothered to come over and just say that it would be a couple of hours. Which would have been fine - but she really just didn't care, never made eye contact when we were sitting right there. The room was dark and dingy. Nothing like what was pictured on the website. The carpet was filthy and thread-bare and needed to be replaced. I will say that the front desk people at nite were super nice. The dining room food was great! We ate dinner there several times and really enjoyed it. Some servers are super nice. Some are not at all friendly. Don't stay here if you want a great hotel with a smooth and delightful check-in process, clean rooms, and top-notch, consistent service. read more

I loved how the doorman at the entrance already took my order, because I was in a rush. Very fast service, and i sweet tiny hotel garden where you can enjoy your meal. Maybe this wasn't my favorite "style" of club sandwich, but the attention to detail in terms of ingredients and preparation made me take a mental note to return to try something else! read more

Highly Recommended! INK Hotel is part of the Accor Hotels but has a very boutique and modern feel to it. We arrived earlier than check-in time and they tried their best to accommodate us. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Everyone we encountered was very nice and helpful. The location is great too. It's across the street from a train station and a few minutes walk to De Wallen (city center), Magna Plaza and Amsterdam Centraal. Not to mention, their restaurant serves a great breakfast buffet (which was included in our room rate). I would love to stay here again. read more

I am truly upset with this company! I had reservations through Expedia. The hotel cancelled my reservations due the Covid-19 and this pandemic. Understandable. But Expedia advised that my " nonrefundable" reservations will not be refunded to me and all they can do is send me a voucher, going I can use within a year???? My issue, they cancelled my reservation, not me. Neither this hotel or Expedia will work with me to resolve this. REALLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE given these unprecedented times. I don't believe this company cares about anything or anyone but their own bottom line... 3 star masquerading as a 4; very clean, sharp looking place, but the devil us in the details. Lobby made to look cozy and warm is chilly and no fire in the fireplace- all show, no go. Rooms seem clean and cleverly designed, until you notice lots if missing screws, fixtures glued into place, brand nee fridge on the fritz, that kind of thing. A good way to read the hotel is by counting the amount of things that you want to steal! They had some nice stuff...but the only thing I wanted were the bathroom lights. Now I don't live in Amsterdam anymore, I'm really looking for a new home away from home, for the moment that I'm in Amsterdam just for one or two days on business. I've tried so many hotels in Amsterdam and this one is just below par. The most important problem I have with this Junior executive suite, is the synthetic duvet. Just uncomfortable no sense of luxury and way too hot. When you pay 500+ for one night? I need more. I need one full-length mirror, I need a little trashcan in the bathroom, I need windows, nota small one...but two big ones. I need the lights to be able to dim. I need fluffy (not hard) bathrobes, and I need...he would comes here comes the horrible side of wanting service: When I ask the desk for a taxi I want a taxi, I don't want to waitoutside for 16 minutes (yes, in the centre, for 16 minutes). When the desk said they were going to get me one I expected them to actually get me one but they ordered one with a taxi app. That is something I could've done myself. ...should have hailed one. Okay let me stop complaining for just a while and some of the good things about this really cool looking hotel. 1. It's a really cool looking hotel! 2. The jackets and dresses that the staff where are very very cool. 3. I didn't have time for breakfast, wanted just a banana and an apple, and I was allowed to take them from s very nice looking breakfast spread. 4. City centre, location is perfect and close to Central Station. 5. Amsterdam is one of my 3 favourite cities! 6. The weather was great (hey! The hotel might have had a shaman organise it?!) 7. I had the pleasure of meeting a friend here from the states. Ink is a wonderful hotel to stay when visiting Amsterdam. It's in an ideal location for lunch, dinner, cocktails or large groups. The hotel is French owned, so it has a lot of quality to it. Customer service was more than excellent. I definitely plan on returning back here with Dutchman for lunch or dinner. I also will be suggesting Ink to friends and family when they are visiting the Netherlands. Overall, it's a wonderful hotel, which provides excellent food, staff and service. read more

This was my favorite hotel when comparing the 3 that we stayed in Europe. Very modern, couldn't be more central and the customer service was stellar. In addition, their breakfast (which was included in our room rate) was amazing. They even blended a fresh green juice for me! The only reason I took 1 star off is because we had no view (looked at a wall) and I wasn't a huge fan of the shower. However, I would stay at INK without any hesitation in the future. read more

I stayed at the INK Hotel for 3 nights for business. I really like the hotel; but has 2 fatal flaws. First, the air conditioning is controlled based on the temperature outside. Meaning, if it's cooler out, the AC works less. While a great idea in theory, it leads to a room that is unbearable to sleep in at night due to the heat. Yes, you can open a window but the street noise is incredibly loud and so it's impossible to sleep either way. Second, the bathroom design is not conducive to more than 1 person being in the room as there is minimal privacy between where you sleep and where you use the bathroom. Really wanted to like this hotel, but not sure I'll stay here again after this experience. At the very least, they need to fix the AC so the customer can control their sleeping environment. I heard several people complain about it in the restaurant. read more

I came here with my fiancé just for a few days (December 12 to 15th) After visiting and proposing to her in Paris. It's not every day a New York City couple travels to Europe so we didn't have the highest of expectations. upon arriving to this hotel Yusuf Our concierge upgraded our room to an executive suite at no cost to us at all We were quite pleased with this. Our original room was facing the court yard and was only a queen room. The staff overall was so pleasant and made our Stay refreshing from the uptight frenchies we just came from. All in all the hotel is charming, right in the center of downtown Amsterdam. The room it self looked cool with an entire wall dedicated to a well depicted map of Amsterdam drawn by a local artist. A poster noted that this hotel has a knack for "less is more" I have to agree. Our room was large but had hardly any shelf space or any place to put our clothes other than a tiny little closet. Certainly it was an interesting layout but for my fiancé it was a hassle. Oh well. My only qualm was that our bathroom was directly connected to our bedroom space. No privacy at all. It was a weird lay out but we still enjoyed our time. I would come back to this hotel but I can't imagine how much it would cost to stay In the room we Stayed in. Looked expensive but like I said it felt like it was not the right fit for us. The restaurant downstairs was pretty good too actually. The wifi was not the best but hey it's free! read more

This hotel was situation in a great location with a 10 -15 min walk from the Amsterdam Central train station and 5 -10 min walk to the notorious Red Light district. Check in was pretty quick and the staff was helpful in pointing out some local attraction such as the foodhall. The rooms themselves were a good size, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was large enough to fit two peoplel. I like the decor of the rooms which was definitely unlike anything I've encountered before plus their free Wi-Fi had a great connection. The room had a fridge in the desk draw and a small locker to place personal value items. Overall, this was a very nice hotel, my only issue was the towels felt like sandpaper. read more

I really wanted to give 5 stars as I like such character hotels and I am super loyal to the Accor group anyway. The INK is perfectly located in Amsterdam, has a really nice theme which can be found in all areas of the hotel and whole ambience and design is nice. The restaurant PRESSROOM offers good dinner and also good offers for lunch. Hotel guests have breakfst here as well. I detailed review of the restaurant can be found on the specific yelp entry of the PRESSROOM. The gym is small but does the job for a quick session on a weekend or business trip. Open 24/7. Event though, I really "want" to like the hotel there were a few things that were not perfect. Ok, this is not a 5 star hotel but it is 4 star superior. And when you consider the normal rate of 200-260 Euro per night, I expect almost perfection. The points that disturbed and that I raised with management were: -Upon checkin nobody knew about my correspondence by email before. Initially I asked for an upgrade to the think amsterdam package which I then cancelled by email due to bad weather forecast. This lead to confusion. -The air condition was not working correctly. No matter what I do, the room temperature stays high even though it is freezing outside. -The noise from outside as well as from the neighbouring room and floors was really loud and can be heard clearly in our room. Hard to sleep well in a warm, noisy room. -The Nespresso cups were not re-filled after our first night, therefore I had no coffee on Saturday morning which is really bad way to start a day for me. -The breakfast is ok coffee is good, service is friendly. However, there is no choice of eggs to order which I would have expected for a hotel like Ink. The boiled eggs that are available were completely cold, unfortunately. In general the breakfast selection was a little disappointing for me. -Upon arrival nobody told me clearly where I find the garage for my car. There I ended up searching for the entrance for 30 minutes. All in all, I would give it another chance but I think they have to improve on the details to be competitive. We stayed here as a couple for 3 nights and although the hotel is very well located and has a modern and stylish ambience we were rather underwhelmed by the overall experience. The luxury(!) room that we booked was really small and at reception they already suggested an upgrade straight away. We did so and found ourselves in a room with a very smelly shower. They came up and tried to fix but even the cleaning ladies suggested we should switch the room. In total this meant a check-in of more than one hour. The room then was very nice and we slept well. We had further problems at breakfast (waiting more than 15 minutes for a coffee) and check-out (could not give us a simple list of all times that were not prepaid with the room) so this means 3 stars. read more

I'm primarily a business travelor so when I do travel for my personal time I expect to stay in moderately comfortable amenities. The staff was usually pretty friendly at this hotel and the Decour is all right they kind of have that less is more trend. Unfortunately I'm reading them a one star for everything else. Room service food was absolutely atrocious the lady who cleaned my room didn't understand any language it wasn't Arabic and they took my laundry and did not get it back to me within the next day. Another side note is that my friend had his $300 cashmere sweater taken out for dry cleaning and they lost it. So The location is OK but it's overpriced for what it offers. A friend of mine stayed here while he was in the city for business.So while he now has other lodgings one night he and I were prowling the later hours of the evening when all the bars were closing down he remembered the bar in this hotel because they treated him well. Since we were nearby we checked to see if they were still open. Finding the bar still open we sauntered in and ordered a last round to cap the evening since they were open an hour or so longer than the surrounding bars in the area. The staff remembered my friend and treated the both of us as if he were still a guest of the hotel offering up a bit of a chat while they made our drinks. The bar was still well populated with late night inhabitants. It's a comfortable space to hang out with lots of soft couches to sink into along with plenty of places to sit and have a conversation with someone. The drinks were good. Gin and tonics are a lot more complicated these days consisting of a few more ingredients than ice cubes, gin and tonic water in a tumbler glass. They're almost foofy but a manly man can still get away with one sitting in front of him much less drinking one of them. The service was great. I'll always remember how well they treated us. I'll be back some time in the future for another round or two. By the way they're also dog friendly. read more

I just got back from spending a week here and I can honestly tell you this place is great! Its location is great! The decor is great! The staff is great! I really enjoyed reading the bedroom wall (if you go you'll know) it gives you great insight on the city, Its unique and funny. The room was clean and a pleasure to come into at the end of the day. Check in was smooth Chocolates and wine were waiting for us when we arrived in the room. From this point you can reach anywhere in the city quick and easy. Here's my big disappointment... There were no more autographed books of "The soft atlas of Amsterdam". I bought one just because the book is that good!! Would I stay here again... In a heart beat!!! There are two parts to this review, good and bad. Arrived for check in around 2pm. Our room was ready(we had prepaid online for a queen room.) when we arrived in our room, it was very small. No dresser, closet could not fit a standard hangar without turning it sideways. Well, in the adjoining room we heard kids screaming so my wife said we need to move out of this room and went to the front desk. I can't say enough about how wonderful they were. We had a new girl at first but then the gal that was at premier check in took over. She said there was a room available immediately and upgraded us. So we packed up and moved over. King bed and a much larger room and very quiet. I can't thank them enough. I would not have been happy in the small, noisy room. Loved the Nespresso machine. The bath products were very nice. The shower, toilet and sinks are all in different spots. It's fine for those who don't need privacy as there's just a stall for the shower/toilet divided by smoked glass. The restaurant is very good. We ate there for lunch. I had the open faced steak sandwich. The steak was like butter! The bread was very, very good as well. My wife had the smoked salmon sandwich and said if you are a smoked salmon lover, you'll love it! We stopped in for cappuccino's and they were very good too. Came with cute cinnamon shortbread cookies. The service is very good in the restaurant as well. The location of this hotel is fantastic. Walk to everything. Shopping just steps away! read more

Very classy recently redecorated hotel in the center of Amsterdam. Rooms have a luxurious feel, nice quality materials are used giving them a really nice atmosphere. Staff is very helpful and most friendly. We enjoyed a couple of snacks and cocktails in their restaurant: all was delicious. My wife and I ourselves are from Amsterdam and we were surprised by the quality of the Dutch cheese platter, can you imagine? All in all most reccomanded. read more

Now not everything in this hotel is perfect, but what hotel is? The only thing I really didn't like was the comforter on the beds, but I don't like comforters in general. Anyway, I simply requested it to be replaced with just a sheet at the front desk and the maids did it with no problem. However, what I loved about this hotel was that it had character. I never new that a hotel could be so charismatic and detailed; and I've stayed at almost all of the hotels in Las Vegas! This hotel used to be a newspaper printing building and it has transformed its past into a modern hotel without being cheesy, overly sentimental or looking antiquated and dusty. On the contrary, it is classy with a unifying, but not over the top theme. My greatest highlight was that in the rooms, the wall paper is a sketched out map of Amsterdam with the artist's quirky and often hilarious input on buildings and the locals. Not only was this map useful for finding restaurants and attractions, but it was extremely entertaining. It even briefly described a few of the professionals in the red light district. I could look at it for hours and still find new details. While in Europe i spent time in a Parisian five star hotel while this hotel was only four stars. While I understand that this rating has to do with the amount of services provided (laundry, room service, exercise facility, etc.) I much preferred my experience in this hotel. read more

We stayed here for New Year's; few days prior, few after. The overall stay was a fun one... Buuut the hotel was not exactly as advertised or envisioned. Start off the murals in the room. They were the absolute best part of the hotel experience! They are personalized detailed maps of the city and personal locations that the artist has visited, lived, and such. The rooms had olden type phones and pens and paper, tying into the history and theme. Location was prime.... Well I guess the majority of the city would be a prime spot since walking everywhere is the best route it and does not take too much time to travel anywhere... But still, a good location. Some of the not so good. The hotel offered free power converters for our stay. I asked for three to use two cycle and power was the plethora of devices. The front staff person told us not to steal them! Like wtf! I was shocked. We were on our honeymoon and spent a good deal on the hotel and the entire trip here and other countries. Just to be talked to like that was strange. The restaurant inside was good, but the room service and bar was grossly overpriced. Other than the murals in the room there was minimal 'ink' in the hallways. The majority of the rest of the hotel had no theme to it, although it did look nicely decorated. So I would suggest somehow being able to get a picture of all the murals in the rooms get a copy of the book that's in the room and able to be purchased at the hotel and skip out the ink. My husband and I stayed at INK for 3 days (3-6 Oct 2017) on the start of our 15-day European vacation. We arrived at the hotel via an overnight flight from Wash DC @ 9-10AM Amsterdam time (I don't remember the exact time...we were like zombies), but the room was already ready and check-in was a breeze...so we were able to get a snooze before we set-out to explore the city. We LOVED this hotel. It was stylish and comfortable, and the food (we had the breakfast buffet included in our rate, but also ate dinner there twice) was very good. And the staff was wonderful...friendly, helpful, competent, efficient...etc. When I asked @ a good Indonesian restaurant, the bartender recommended "MAX," which was a short walk away and the desk staff made us a reservation...fabulous...not to be missed! Wish we could have stayed at least one more day. If you go to Amsterdam, I highly recommend you stay at INK (and also dine at MAX). read more
