What an amazing stay! ! I used one of my complimentary nights from my Hilton Diamond status because I came into Amsterdam a day early and omg I love this hotel! As soon as my cab stopped in front, a man immediately came down the stairs to help me with my bag and escort me to the check in area. They asked if I wanted anything to drink and I said of course champagne! They gave me two! I checked in with Lisa who was amazing! She had me pick out a scent for my room. What? I didn't know that existed! Super fun! My room wasn't ready because I had booked late even though it was 3pm but I didn't mind waiting, especially when they gave me that 2nd glass of champagne. When I got my room, Lisa and Fae escorted me to the room to make sure I liked it and it was beautiful. I loved how the light came into the bathroom. On that note the bathtub was so nice I almost fell asleep in it! You receive welcome chocolates in the shape of Amsterdam shoes which were so cute and delicious! I ordered room service as the bar only served snacks and did not want to go to the restaurant by myself as it was really open. I got the Waldorf Astoria Burger which was amazing and so good! I'd go back to this hotel just for that burger itself. The next day I also had the breakfast and was able to get the whole tray of assortments and all the juices and coffee I wanted PLUS another dish! All complimentary with my Hilton Diamond status. I ordered the French toast and everything was delicious! Obviously I couldn't eat it all but was able to take some left to the room for later. I also had a spa appointment while here. Massage was great and the masseuse mentioned to see a physical therapist to help my lower back pain that I was complaining about as she said it was coming from my glutes, legs, knees. I've seen a couple of masseuses in the last two years in the states and one in Canada and NONE had ever even mentioned that that could help. I love this! Very professional staff. The spa also very serene with sauna, jacuzzi, and pool. They have a door to the garden which I'm assuming is beautiful in summer but I was here in February so it was freezing! When I checked out it was with Lisa again and she was great as usual and the guys helped me with my bags again when my uber came. They let me sit in the other room and said they'd let me know when it was here. Very nice. I did not want to leave. Haha! read more

Truly an experience! My sister and I cannot thank Ranu enough for welcoming us to High Tea last week at the Waldorf in Amsterdam. We'd been waitlisted online, but since I didn't speak/read Dutch, I hadn't realized it and we showed up anyway. Ranu was a true professional: he welcomed us regardless, provided a complimentary glass of champagne, asked the chef if he could accommodate an extra high tea service, and we were set! This wasn't just High Tea, this was a Christmas experience. From the beautiful decor and live piano player gently entertaining in the corner, to the sumptuous treats laid out in storybook fashion. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed reading each description (in true storybook style!) before tasting the savory and sweet treats. I'll admit some of the bites were more delicious than others, but the overall experience was absolutely one of the best I've had. You can't go wrong making a reservation here. We got VERY lucky the day we walked in, and I am grateful to Ranu for being so very kind and making our last day in Amsterdam so incredibly memorable. read more

Truly an amazing experience. Although we were only here for a night stopping over on our trip it could not have been more wonderful. The rooms were beautiful and charming in the way you can only get in these old buildings. The bathroom was spacious and beautifully updated with an amazing soaking tub- that even had a toweled head rest! They truly thought of everything to make this an unforgettable experience. You can choose between four signature scents to have them spritz your room with which was very unique. The staff was more than helpful in recommendations of cultural things to do beyond the typical museums as well as local hidden gems. We will be back soon! read more

We're huge fans of Waldorf Pedregal (17N over 4 annual visits) and were curious how the Waldorf Amsterdam would compare to the over-the-top service at Pedregal... After 5N at this property, I think the top spot now goes to Waldorf Amsterdam if you factor in both the hard and soft products. The service here is incredible and we've never experienced such thorough, impeccable housekeeping! They offer Dyson hairdryers in the rooms. The pillow menu is incredible and our spa treatments were absolute bliss! The concierge will book your Anne Frank House tickets so you don't have to deal with the ticket madness. If you're a Hilton Gold member or above, the Taste of Waldorf breakfast offering will keep you full until dinner! I ordered the Eggs Benedict Oriental every morning and it was perfect every time! The french toast was also delicious. The breakfast staff are all so friendly and accommodating! I could go on and on about this hotel.... We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend this hotel, but be prepared to be disappointed when you visit any other hotel in the future! read more

What a privilege it was to stay at this outstanding hotel. The WA definitely lived up to its name. Everything was extremely classy; from the bed, the linens, the bathroom products, call mom to the room itself. The best part was the service we were treated with respect personally shown to everything. Upon entering, we were greeted at the door and taken into a reception room. After going through the normal hotel logistics, we were given a refreshing sparkling beverage. We were introduced to four different fragrances, and we could choose one for our room. The hotel is made up of a collection of townhomes dating back to the 17th century. They are a joined using the first floor, a.k.a. the second floor for the Americans to get to our room, we had to go a little up and down, but this added to the delight of staying at the hotel. The beds were remarkably comfortable. Everything was tidied up for us. Every time we left the room we had complementary bottles of water, both sparkling and still, and our own Nespresso machine. I like to go swimming and go to the steam room and sauna very late at night. These are all open for use until 9pm. Beyond that you are permitted to use these facilities, but someone has to come down and open them for you. I took advantage of this and enjoyed my very own personal leisure time. This is one of the most exquisite hotels I have ever stayed in. Everything is absolutely wonderful. I can't wait to come and visit again. read more

Everything is amazing. If you have the opportunity to stay here because you're hard like that, then you will have an amazing experience. My whole entire stay was perfect from check-in to check-out. Notable things: 1) When you check-in, you sit down with someone (not stand like other hotels) and they serve you chocolates and a hot towel. 2) During the check-in process, you get to smell some perfumes, one of which you will pick to spray in your room during evening room prep. 3) The evening room prep is amazing where they pretty much remotely tuck you into bed (bottle of water and a glass on the night stand, slippers and cloth next to the bed, Dutch candies, dimmed lights). 4) They serve afternoon tea The Peacock Alley just past the lobby, yes, it's worth it! 5) The breakfast was just as elegant and delicious! I will weigh-in with everybody else: beautiful hotel, excellent location, and attentive staff. Breakfast was a nice way to start the day with an assortment of breads, butter, cheese, and whatever you could reasonably imagine. One cup of their coffee americano and I was ready to conquer the world. After fatiguing walks around town, it was nice to return to their friendly smiles and warm chit-chat. I recommend their steam room, pool, and facilities: clean and modern. This is no small feat when you consider this hotel sits within a group of old homes. I asked for tickets to the Rijksmuseum and they delivered prepared to do more. When it was time to leave it was a little sad because after almost a week, I felt like I was leaving home. read more

I cannot say enough good things about The Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam. The food/service at Spectrum was amazing, High Tea was outstanding, breakfast every morning was just perfect, the room service was fantastic, the room was wonderful with the most thoughtful housekeeping service multiple times a day. Above all of those things though, the people that work here make this hotel the best hotel I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world. We came here on holiday with our daughter and they treated her (and us) like absolute royalty. Gifts left for her every night including teddy bears, books, crayons, deserts/treats. Staying here made this trip the most special experience for our daughter's first big trip and birthday. I highly recommend this hotel and will absolutely plan a trip back to Amsterdam simply to return for a stay at The Waldorf Astoria. The Waldorf Amsterdam is beautifully designed and in an amazing location walking distance to several attractions. From check-in thru check-out, the service was exceptional. We used the concierge to book a private canal tour and they were able to seamlessly coordinate a canal boat pick-up from right outside the hotel as well as secure a last minute visit at the Anne Frank House. Quite possibly the best hotel experience I've ever had. Beautiful foyer, rooms, dining area, private gardens. Location is excellent and is walking distance to many restaurants, shops, and things to explore, such as the Red Light District. Also, excellent are the staff: professional, friendly, attentive. This alone is enough to warrant 5 stars. But, really, they deserve more than 5 stars because of how they handled a very unfortunate thing that happened during my stay: I acquired food poisoning. I was very suddenly and horribly sick. So much that I was forced to cancel my next stop in Europe because I couldn't fly, let alone walk much. The staff worked with us to accommodate our change so we could stay in the same room. They also called a doctor to visit me in the room to take my vitals and prescribe me medication. One of their staff offered to go to a pharmacy to get it for me -- and it took them more than one stop to find it. I thought this was so kind. It also helped that I was in such beautiful surroundings. Without being too graphic, I remember thinking as I was nauseated in the bathroom that I was relieved at how immaculately clean the floor was since I had to sit by the toilet for several hours! They also checked in to see if I needed anything. When I started feeling well enough to eat, they had their chef make me soup custom to my specifications. It was perfect. When you're deliriously sick, can hardly move, and very weak, all of this is especially comforting. I felt like I didn't have to worry. They were going to take care of me. I really couldn't have asked for a better place to have had this experience. Including my own home. I absolutely recommend the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam. read more

Very nice hotel that definitely deserves its five star status. The hotel is centrally located in Amsterdam and within walking distance of the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, Foodhallen, the Anne Frank House, and many other sights and attractions. The beds are comfortable and although the rooms are small, the rooms still exude five star vibes. The breakfast at the hotel is also great and delicious, especially the Belgian waffles. Overall, the Waldorf, while pricey, is one of the best hotels in Amsterdam and you definitely get what you pay for here. read more

We were totally impressed with the entire lunch experience. Located slightly away from all the hustle and bustle of the middle of the center it was a perfect spot. Our party consists of 15 people eating on a hurried schedule. Europe does not put an emphasis on schedules. It's a laid back enjoy your lunch experience, your food arrives when it's ready....no sooner. Our server was very obligingly polite as she took our drink orders and food orders together. She worked smarter not harder and we were given our checks as the food was being prepared, another smart move. Our party had a variety of different meals from beautifully made salads to soups and my bruschetta..it was outstanding. All the plated items were served on slabs of stones..pretty impressive! I've stayed in my fair share of 4 and 5 star hotels, but this is definitely within my top 3 city hotels. - Great rooms, very well kept and decorated - Treatment of IHG Platinum members good. Free breakfast (EUR35 value) as well as free drink and snacks at the bar daily - Amazing private garden at the back, to relax or work out of - Location is great, walking distance to most places, but in a quiet part of town. Also lots of transport options nearby. - Great showers were Ferragamo toiletries. Only disappointment? The signature eggs benedict at breakfast. It is meant to be their signature dish, but somehow fell flat in terms of taste. I'll be back! It is a pricey hotel, but quality assured. read more

this hotel exceeded all our expectations. it was gorgeous with 5 star service at every step. but it was also warm and intimate. we had a junior suite with a canal view. luscious bed (pillow menu) plus little throws for the sofa. they made sure to fill the honor bar with our particular drinks. and the heated bathroom floor!!! we had breakfast in their restaurant every morning, greeted by the same people who anticipated our needs. i regret not taking pictures of the room. but 235. will stay there again. the shower was great with ferragamo products. i just can't say enough about this hotel. and i am beyond picky!!! i will include the pictures i took. most of views and breakfast room and tea. don't miss that.... read more

For a work lunch, we decided to go here.. I appreciate service, and it happens from the staircase upon entering. Almost magical, true american, classy service, Love it! We sat down at lobby level and had a Club Sandwich and a Ham crispy sandwich (and Pesto) with a side of fries. Both delicious. When ordering tea, out come the chocolate bites and macarones.... oh yes.... The staff is absolutely wonderful and make sure to be there before you would need them. In this area it was nice and quiet, which was great for us to work in. The garden views and architectural features complete it. Absolutely one of my favorite places! Yes, it might be a bit more expensive in some regards, but it is worth it for me. A relaxing and all round great place to enjoy (work)lunch. read more

This hotel is up there with my top 5 experiences in life thus far. My mom and I both appreciate good service, but also comfort. We opted to stay here because it was well recommended to us by friends, but also our Hilton rewards points. We had hit the jackpot, enough points for 4 nights. The hotel was exactly what we wanted and it was in a great location. Plus, the staff were incredibly helpful and insightful given that we had never been to Amsterdam and there was a lot to learn. When we checked in, we were told that the only rooms available were on the street level, but if we weren't satisfied later on we could get a new room. The very nice manager allowed us to stay in the room to nap and then clean up before a light day of sight seeing. The bed was so comfy, I am getting tired just thinking about it! We slept off our jet-lag and while we were out our bags were moved to a new room with a view of the garden! It was even more beautiful!! The staff was even more accommodating with our requests for tickets to all the museums, even the Anne Frank house! We were able to score one ticket, but don't worry we both got in with some pleading... Overall, if you want to spurge in Amsterdam this is the hotel to do so in! read more

Absolutely incredible hotel. I am very sad to be checking out tomorrow. The staff here are sincere and genuine, they truly care about making your stay wonderful! The rooms are spacious and clean, quite the comfortable bed! Amazing food at the restaurant and with room service. The highlight of my entire stay is what made me compelled to write this review: when I was chatting with the fellows at the front door, I mentioned I had wanted to try "Bitterballen" but could not find it. Later that day, there is a knock on my door and a staff member is holding a tray of Bitterballen, complimentary for us. I could not contain my excitement!! Such wonderful and thoughtful staff! I would suggest this hotel to anyone (of course, anyone with the budget because it is very expensive! But you get your money's worth here!) UPDATE: after writing this review, we went for a bike ride. They let us use their bikes for free, and when we came out to get on the bikes, they had lined them all up with the lights on, ready for us to go! Very nice :) read more

Sorry reviewers---I hate giving 1 star. And I must admit I've never been to the hotel. Made a reservation with AMEX and tried 4 times over a week to get someone in concierge services at the hotel to respond to my requests for transportation and a dinner reservation. My last attempt I even cc'd the GM at the hotel, Roberto Payer. You can't find any names of any staff members online or any email addresses to contact the hotel directly. In fairness they answered my first couple of emails a few weeks ago and then went radio silent. So ridiculous. I'm on the phone with AMEX right now cancelling the trip. Moving over to the Conservatorium which looks like the same quality hotel, a better location and lower price. Sorry Waldorf. As a Hilton Diamond Member I expected better. read more

Yes, yes and yes. From the moment we arrived the service was beyond anything we expected- even for this iconic hotel brand. Reception experience was personalized and warm. The room and amenities were top notch. The Vault Bar offered spectacular service, creative cocktails and unique atmosphere. Breakfast felt like you were the only person in the restaurant with such attentive service we were convinced the staff ratio was 10:1. Cannot imagine staying anywhere else next time. This hotel is top notch! We had an amazing 4 day stay with them. The staff is so incredibly nice...so welcoming and kind. We reserved their bikes and were able to check out the area much faster with the use of them. Please be careful- there are a lot of people, cars, trams to contend with. The food was delectable - we ate at the hotel for breakfast twice. The bar has a great staff and we enjoyed a couple evenings hanging out in the lounge. One of the best places we have stayed at! I stayed one miserable night in another hotel before checking into the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam. What a perfectly lovely stay in a beautiful hotel. The staff was warm and welcoming. The hotel is in a very old bank building with twin marble fireplaces and a 17th century staircase. Most importantly, the entire staff was incredibly helpful. During my stay, I happened to be quite sick. A doctor was called, tea was brought, prescriptions were picked up and dinner was delivered. I was so well taken care of.
