I came from out of state and we have a similar business in our area. It's such a fun experience to pick out the different scents you like and even mix them together to create a unique smell. For the bridal shower, the bride picked out 6 pre-made scents for the shower guests to choose from for their candles. This made it much easier and smoother for the shower to stay on schedule, while still being a fun experience of making your own candle. I'd love to see them expand into soaps one day! The business in my area also offers gel hand soaps which is another great option. Staff here were so kind and you can tell they love doing what they do. Highly recommend this woman owned and run business if you're looking for something different to do!

The store was spacious and very well decorated and organized. I fell in love with some of their jewelry pieces... especially the ones from Aileen Lampman. Carnegie now has a bookstore, much to my delight and to my wallet's despair…read more Woolly Bear Books and Gifts is an independent bookstore; it opened its doors last Halloween, which means we've been lucky enough to have them in our community for almost a year. Their space is quite cozy, but charming and welcoming. The large front windows help illuminate the front half of the store and make it that much more inviting. If you browse here, you'll find a nice range of titles and genres, although their website says they have a focus on native gardening, environmental education, and children's nonfiction. To date, I have purchased a mixture of fiction and history books here. I also recently picked up some "blind book" / "date with a book" bundles, which were just too cute and enticing to pass up! There are also toys and other gifts stocked here, as hinted by the business name. They sell some Pittsburgh-based art, mugs, and candles; and I've purchased many stickers for myself and for friends alike. They also schedule events regularly - many author events as well as workshops and a book club, according to their social media. I myself recently attended a talk and beer tasting hosted by a local author; and I'm probably going to duck in during the next Crawl when they have "birds at the bookstore." (Real birds, by the way, that's not a metaphor for something!) Not only do I love the store itself, but the owner and staff are also great - very knowledgeable and nice to talk to. I'm so glad they're here in Carnegie, and I hope we continue to do our part to make them feel welcome!
