The massage was ok and the massage therapist was kind, accommodating, and courteous. But the receptionist was really loud... almost as if I was walking into a core power studio or a sales environment. The receptionist and a different therapist also complained about a customer no-showing in front of me and another client, saying, "it figures", "no surprise there", etc. The receptionist continued to be loud during the treatment. The walls are thin and the floors creak because it's an old building -- fair enough. But there didn't seem to be any effort to work around this, easy options could be: ask your receptionist to be quieter in general, use white noise machines, choose different music that drowns out the noise of the clinic and busy road, put some carpets down. Overall the environment was lacking: The massage table squeaked and seemed old. It was too short for me at 5'6" to have my head on the bed when I laid on my back. When it was time to turn onto my back, the therapist asked me to put the back of my head in the face cradle. I had to tell them my neck was *really* unsupported, to the point it hurt. The clocks in the treatment rooms were large, bright white LED -- mimicking a neon light style. They shine in your eyes during the treatment. Overall not a comfy or relaxing environment. Before I came here, I did a search on Google and found this massage therapy place which had a higher rating comparing to others in Tri-cities, so I decided to give it a try. I found that they have an online booking system on their website. This is excellent and very convenient! I could choose a time and date that would fit in my schedule, so I did not have to call and ask a receptionist to check on any time slots. I could see all the availabilities online. I was trying to choose a time slot that was after work such as 5:45pm or after 6pm on weeknights. The online system or website shows that they have 10 RMTs. I chose a RMT called Cynthia Gillanders and reserved a time slot online. I did not know her before, but I would just give her a try. When I walked into Inlet Wellness Gallery, the environment was very relaxing, quiet, and comfortable. A receptionist greeted me and asked me to fill out a form, so Inlet Wellness Gallery could know my medical issues and history. Their waiting area or lounge got a beautiful and comfortable couch and chairs with a coffee table. They placed some tea on the coffee table for the customers who were waiting for appointments. This was a very good idea making the customers feel comfortable and relaxed right at the beginning of the process. Cynthia is a very experienced RMT. She double checked with me on my medical issues and history and asked questions to make sure she understood what I needed from her before she started a massage therapy. She was very friendly and kind. She would also chat with me and made sure I felt great (not bored) when she was giving me a massage. Some soft music was on when I did the massage as well. It was very comfortable. After the massage therapy, I paid up front. The receptionist could make the next appointment immediately. An email notification would send out to me right away. They were very efficient! Overall, I had a great experience at Inlet Wellness Gallery. I would definitely come back to do a massage therapy with Cynthia in the near future. read more

I mentioned wanting to try RMT at Inlet Wellness in my last review, but with the craziness of everything, I didn't have a chance to until today. After being referred to Lilianne by my bestie, I prebooked five appointments with her a month in advance (because her books fill *so fast*!) I missed the one last week due to a scheduling error on my part, and she was really kind and understanding (as was Amanda at the front desk). I live with MS, and Lilianne was knowledgeable about my condition, what pressure is suitable for me, and what I can do in my spare time to help alleviate my condition. She sent me an email straight away with stretches I can do to help my chronic back pain, gave me life advice, and was just generally really wonderful to talk to and have as an RMT. I go for massages a *lot*, and I think it's safe to say that Lilianne gave me one of the best massages ever, hands down, and she's my permanent go-to now. (I can feel my spine comfortably readjusting as I type this.) Another great experience at Inlet Wellness; I'm excited for the next five weeks of appointments, because you better believe I booked that far in advance--she's worth it. I'm sure the other RMTs at Inlet are brilliant, too, but I can only speak for Lillianne. If you're able to book with her, do it. You won't be disappointed. read more

When I heard that Inlet Wellness Gallery hired a new Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner, I wanted to experience a full acupuncture treatment for chronic pain in my back. In the first 20 minutes, Daniel Wu took a holistic look at my concerns and identified several areas where I could improve my diet and physical health. Then he went to work. I got the full experience: scalp needles to relieve the stabbing pain in my hip, then cupping and needles on my body, then an electrostimulating current to aid the restoration. Daniel also worked out a treatment plan for my next visit. I've never had acupuncture performed so thoroughly and I am definitely going back! read more

The actual facility is lovely and you feel like you're going to have a really relaxing time as soon as you walk in, however the receptionist was blah. She refused to smile or really engage with me at all while checking out. The worst part of my experience was Stephen the RMT. Unfortunately he made me feel much worse. He insisted on calling himself a clinical therapist but I don't see any medical credentials in his portfolio (he went to a local massage school like many RMTs). I was shocked when he, without warning, started practicing chiropractic procedures on me by cracking my back and twisting my neck. I was terrified and uncomfortable with this suddenly happening to me. I came in for massage therapy and NEVER go to chiro because it has never helped me. I would have prefered some sort of warning but instead I just had to freeze and hold my breath while he grabbed at my head and twisted it again and again. YIKES! I wanted muscle treatment but he insisted that I wasn't perfectly in line (who is????) and that he needed to pull and prod to adjust my pelvis and spine. He basically violently pushed at one side of my spine in rapid thrusts. It was really uncomfortable and he never once asked if I was doing okay during the entire hour. While he seems like a nice guy I'm just not sure that he is qualified to do the type of therapies he was applying. Furthermore he is an endless talker who preached to me all about pseudo theories of health and wellbeing that were ill informed and lack any evidence or argumentation. He had so much to say about things he knew nothing about. It took me about two weeks to recover from my session with him. I felt bad for days. I understand that treatments are supposed to be consecutive to help heal the body but there was no way I was going back. I actually came out of the session with an injured shoulder. I went in with tight hips and came out with a messed up shoulder! He was entirely blase and chatty during my hour massage and I didn't really get a sense that he was applying therapy. It felt like he was just applying some tricks instead of working with my own body. The best massage therapists list to you and also respond to your body and you feel that they have somehow tuned into your needs. My husband used to be a professional athlete and does much better therapeutic massage then Stephen (and he doesn't charge me anything). I paid about $90 for an hour at this place and will net time devote that money to two sessions with my physiotherapist who actually listens to me, and is qualified to work with alignment and muscle issues. I can't comment on the other RMTs at this place. read more

I love the small cozy space, energy is always calm and soothing, staff are friendly and helpful it's like seeing an RMT in your home. After my regular RMT left I saw Curtis for the first time. Curtis was attentive and knowledgeable, he let me know his plan and any ideas he had throughout the treatment to benefit me, I left feeling refreshed and my body feeling good and pain free for the first time in months. I really love this place and would recommend Curtis and his relaxed energy! read more

I love going to this place for my massages. It's very chill and the environment is very peaceful. I go to Stephen and he does a fantastic job realigning my hip and spine. Most of the time, after he is done doing that, he doesn't even have to touch my shoulders (which is wear I carry most of my tension). Recently they've introduced lap top computers for charts instead of paper charts, which is pretty awesome. Before I start an appointment Stephen always goes over my chart and takes careful notes of anything new. Very professional. I've been to other massage therapists here as well and they've always been very good. Definitely two thumbs up! read more

I was looking for an RMT having just moved to the tricities area and I thought I'd try out this place. Went for a 10AM appointment today. I got there quite early so I had ample time to survey the place. The massage studio exuded this charming, Saltspring-yippie vibe (think urban gardener playing mellow spa music + vibrant visual experience with all the paintings) that contributed immensely to my relaxation. The massage rooms offered plenty of room for changing and these fantastic down duvets for keeping warm (no thin polyester blankets here!). My RMT Farrah was friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. I came out feeling pretty swell. Though my review is for an RMT "treatment" massage, I can tell she'd be pretty good at relaxation massage too. My only beef with the place is the receptionist. The first time I called, she sounded bored and disinterested in even booking an appointment, much more answering questions about their services. She was pleasant enough during "checkout" today but again communicated that I'm-looking-for-the-next-best-job tone of voice. Being a completely new customer, I was a bit disoriented by the receipt, considering I will be submitting it to insurance. I asked if this was the official receipt for insurance and she just offhandedly remarked that it's their official receipt and the Visa receipt is coming up, no explanation of how it qualifies as an official receipt until I saw Farrah's RMT number in tiny text. Might seem like a big fuss over a receptionist but I frequent high end spas quite a bit and when you're paying for a glorious but not really necessary service like this, you'd want everyone in your team representing your values consistently. It almost turned me off booking with them but I'm glad I tried them. For this reason, I'd go back for basic RMT massage but I'm unsure of whether I'd choose them for a more opulent spa experience. read more

I decided to give this place one last try because I was hoping that they would be able to redeem themselves. I want so badly to like this place! I work some pretty crazy hours and my job is stressful enough that my forehead has a twitch. I need to relax! I was so pleased to have been able to get an appointment for my morning off and I'd spent the entire week looking forward to it. I'd even scheduled my entire day around it. I just got an email this afternoon saying that they can't keep my appointment time. They will let me book with a male RMT at a later time if I'd like. The thing is, I'm not comfortable seeing a male RMT and I specifically booked that appointment so that I could have a female RMT. I'm not unreasonable at all but here's what gets me. If a customer cancels with less than twenty four hour's notice, that customer's credit card will be charged a fee. But they can cancel and it's fine? The right thing to do would to have been to offer me a discount on my next visit for the inconvenience. If you consider the excessive noise from my last visit and the cancelled appointment now, it's pretty obvious that this place does not place much importance on customer service. read more

Went for a massage with Cynthia. She was okay. She started late but ended on time therefore not giving me the full 60 minutes. I felt like she couldn't wait for it to be over with and I know that I was her last massage of the day so maybe that is why. I will continue my hunt for a good Registered Massage therapist. The place is cozy and friendly, but the rather inexperienced therapist made me wait which is fine, however if the treatment starts late, I expect to receive the full time nonetheless! My 90 min treatment (initial) was about 70 mins. I expect some time to be a consult, which it was (10 mins). The other time was lost to waiting for the therapist from previous client and waiting for therapist to come into room to start treatment (I don't need five mins to take a top off!). In the end the massage was ok. The therapist did not seem to know how to treat my deep muscular tension. Perhaps I was too much work for her, as she wanted me to see another therapist, because she said she did not have experience with my condition???? Deep muscle tension... how many people on the planet have this! Would not recommend. read more

Last time I went, I was suffering with a terrible headache and as soon as I walked in the door, I already felt relaxed by the atmosphere and the friendly greeting. Yay! I am so happy that I found this cute spa close to where I live. I have been to a lot of different places for waxing and this was one of the best. Barbora did an amazing job!!! She is super experienced (over 18 years!) and is such a nice person that you instantly feel comfortable. You can definitely tell she is passionate about what she does by her technique and the quality of the service. She only uses hard wax for the Brazilian which makes it sooo much less painful that you can actually carry on a conversation if you want to! Whether you have had waxing before or it's your very first time, I highly recommend booking an appointment with Barbora because you won't be dissapointed! I can't wait to go back again in 5 weeks and will book an Eminence facial too. read more

I saw Barbora, the resident holistic esthetician, for an organic facial. From the moment I walked in the door her calm, caring demeanour put me at ease. She is very knowledgeable and customized my facial based on her skin assessment. She uses all sorts of wonderful smelling potions that are not full of the usual chemicals found in most beauty products. Highly recommend her services! read more

This place has great therapists but their customer service is not very customer friendly at all. They have an online booking system, which is great. However, beware, they do have very sudden price increases without any notice whatsoever. I booked an appointment online at one price and when I reported two weeks later for my appointment, was charged a higher price. I only found out the price I would pay AFTER the treatment as no mention was made of any price increase when I checked in and their new prices were not posted anywhere either. When I inquired, rather than apologizing for neglecting to inform their clients of the sudden price increase and correcting the situation, I was rudely told that their website states "prices are subject to change without notice". I guess the Clinic Manager feels this clause gives them a license to mislead clients by listing one price when they book and being charged another price after treatment. Obviously, not very good at all for customer relations. read more
