This is my second time visiting InnerState Beauty & Barber School and at this point, I just HAD to leave a review of my experience! Everyone is so incredibly sweet and welcoming. And the instructors (especially on Saturdays) are amazing, very professional with great customer service. Shout out to Bianca and Rachel for slaying my hair effortlessly. read more

I set out to take my teenaged daughter here for some simple braids to the back. I called during this process to make sure the late night hours for Thursday's posted on the site were for every Thursday. It's a good thing because I was advised that it is no longer a thing at all until further notice. So we arrived at 8:30 on a Saturday which is the time they open. We saw a line of students waiting at the locked door. After a few minutes an apparent instructor arrived and unlocked the door. We waited a few minutes to let them get situated. When we walked in we waited for someone to come to the counter. There was also a woman waiting behind us who eventually walked out. A man came and told us to take numbers then disappeared. Ours was 1. Additional stylists began to arrive, but brought clients with them. During our wait I noticed the walls are covered with outdated students of the month and aged style models. We never saw one person get serviced. In the end we spent 30 mins waiting before someone came and asked what we were getting just to advise they did not have any braiders present and couldn't help us. They are teaching these stylists horrible customer service. I remember this used to be a great school. I certainly hope it gets back to its former reputation. read more

I was turned away students/ staff made comments on my hair texture. Stated that I need to leave because they refuse to style my hair texture. As an African American Woman I was discriminated and insulted by them. read more

I had my hair washed, flat ironed and cut. Not even a few hours later my hair started to puff up never once have I had that done at any other beauty school I went to and I asked to get all my damaged hair cut off it wasn't like my hair is a totally disaster. Waste of $20 and time tipped the student who did my hair. read more

It's OK for the price. The way they take Clients takes forever. It could just be me but I don't see a reason to have a roller set wait hours while you do flat irons and other services when the roller set could be under the dryer while you do the flat irons. The school should also teach the students how to space their Clients as well. This would allow less of a wait time and they would learn how to multitask for when they get into the working world. read more

This is the worst hair school I have been to in my entire life. I have gave them the benefit of the doubt on many occasions since the beauty school is close to my home and have been disappointed every time. The instructor is very unprofessional and not pleasant. I would never recommend this school to anyone and gave a rating of a #1. read more

Although it can get busy at times, the last time I got my hair cut they seemed to have vastly improved how fast they got me in. I also found the pricing was quite fair, and the staff was very accomadating to my needs. read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Customer service is below below average. Period. I called one evening to ask if I could come in, the man who picked up told me they weren't taking any more clients because they have one student, there were already six clients waiting, and he wasn't going to "overwork" her. Okay, and I, as politely as I could, asked him "well, why only one client tonight?" and I was only asking out of curiosity, because it's so so so so constant where they'd have just one or two students doing 5+ heads. He, apparently, felt the necessity to respond in THEE nastiest and unprofessional way possible. This is literally what he said to me in a disrespectful tone, "well, they're GROWN and we can't REQUIRE them to come in and service people." Ouch. Might as well slap me across the face, wow. I called back telling him how rude and unprofessional he sounded when he said that. Anybody with a heart would just apologize. I'm the customer and he's the employee, not the other way around. The whole time I was being civilized and respectful whilst he rude and unprofessional as hell. Instead of apologizing, which is what he SHOULD have done...he FURTHER gets rude and nasty with me and says "well I'm just telling you what they told me to say, we don't HAVE to SERVICE YOU." I responded, "yes, aren't y'all a business/school?", after he said that it's pretty clear to me that they do not care ANYTHING about us clients. That was an extremely insensitive thing to say, I honestly don't know what his problem was or what I did/say for him to blow up and say all of that nasty stuff to me and then not be at least apologetic for his unprofessionalism afterward. EXTREMELY disappointed at how that played out, I'm a regular--been a regular for YEARS, and for YEARS I've been loyal and cooperative and as understanding as I possibly could to their guidelines and patient about their CONSISTENT lack of students. After that unnecessarily mean phone call and couldn't even get an apology, I may never, ever, EVER, step foot back into that lack of enthusiastic, little to no exceptional customer service, nasty-attitude filled, place. Please do not waste your time coming here, you're bound to get your feelings hurt over some petty mess, people here unprofessional and just downright mean to their clients for no reason. read more
