After spending $10 I somehow ended up winning TWO prizes! Overall this is total LOVE LETTER to all things nerdy! I didn't really expect much from a claw machine arcade since my typical experience at such places is usually disappointment or of being ripped off. This place is the complete opposite! There's so much heart and care put into the store. They also have an area with manga and a switch to play, so you can hang out a bit after playing on the machines. Additionally they have cool anime inspired drinks and rare items like keychains and desk ornaments for purchase, imported directly from Japan. And...free 2 hour parking validation which is CLUTCH! Working on coming back to trade up for the Labubu blind boxes.

I have worked with over 25 different vocal teachers/coaches in my 30+ career and love affair with musical theatre. Teachers in my past have been skilled at technique and teaching but many were missing the other critical element of "the business." Here is what Karyn can give you in her lessons: vocal warm ups, technique, access to a massive music library, advice, her past and personal experience, acting while singing coaching...but WAIT... there is more. Karyn sets you up for success with her knowledge around technology. Every song that I have learned with her she provides the sheet music, a tracked accompaniment with and without vocal line, mp3 or youtube of someone else singing the song and FULL ACCESS in my own google folder so that I can actually practice without hiring an accompanist. For those of us who are old enough to remember the practice pre-phone/computer days, these resources are invaluable. We have been so happy with all of our boys' teachers. Ms Mai, Ms Macker, Ms Tessaro- Love, Ms Sor and now Ms Guffy and Ms Sottile. They truly are top notch and care so much for the kids. We love the emphasis on music - the school offers an amazing Suzuki violin program which kids can start in Kindergarten. If kids start in Kinder or 1st grade, parents have to also take lessons to be able to help their kids practice, however, the violin program is not mandatory. CPJMA also offers a number of after school options including Spanish, music club, Lego building and cooking classes. Since my husband and I work full time we signed our kids up for "Connect the World". Our kids are now learning about other cultures around the world. It's a great program. Our new principal Ms Sakeenah Smith is also fantastic and is a great addition to the school. Although no school is perfect, we think CPJMA is a great option and feel fortunate it's our local School.

My God Daughter loves this school, her teachers, and her classmates. She invited me and my wifey to her science fair last week to check out her project. It was great to see all the cool and creative projects the children came up with. On this particular evening, she invited us to family movie night where "The Lego Movie" was playing. The school does fundraising by selling: snacks, food, drinks, and raffle tickets. We got a few slices of pizza, popcorn, and some drinks. They had two separate screens with the movie playing, so no bad seats in the house. Families brought in blankets and pillows so the kiddos could lay out and watch the movie comfortably. It was nice, we had a great time. A lot of families showed up to support the school's movie night. PB seems like a pretty tight knit community!

The Catamaran hotel hosts a sunset luau in front of the beach every summer from June to September and this year it was on a Thursday. I like how it's reserved seating. You can purchase VIP or general admission tickets. Everyone gets a plastic lei upon arrival. The VIP seats were $20 more per person and included closer seats, early access to the luau (30 mins before general admission so you skip the long line), a plastic souvenir cup filled with Mai tai to take home, a small welcome appetizer, and a photo with 2 of the dancers. VIP tickets were $150 per person. Dinner is a buffet which included salads, sides, main entrees, desserts/fruits, coffee, tea, and water. There was a separate kids buffet line with pizza, potato wedges, chicken tenders, and fruits. Don't forget to get in line for the dole whip as well! The food was edible. Self parking was $20 and valet was $27 but there is free street parking around the hotel if you're lucky to find a spot. There are a few things the Catamaran hotel can easily change to make this a 5 star experience: - at least include complimentary self parking (after all we are paying several hundred dollars for an event) - the VIP photo opportunity with the dancers should include a clear and high resolution photo (after all we are paying several hundred dollars for an event). It was pretty disappointing to get the picture and realize the pictures are not clear. It was more upsetting when the photographer directed us to the website to purchase the high resolution photo and refused to take a picture of us with our own phone. - add a few more items to the dinner buffet and improve the taste

Doing our 3rd Annual review! Despite on some previous…read morereviews from yelpers being disappointed...I personally do not agree that this is an event to be missed! Lots of changes this year! There's only one entrance for everyone, printed tickets or scanned tickets. Everyone gets a lei and photo opportunity with the dancers. Tables have turned!! Yay no one has to face the sun in the eyes anymore. VIP kahuna gets free Mai Tai in a souvenir cup....OK I will say if you're not early, drinks are prepared before hand and may be watered down......however!! You can very kindly ask for another drink, especially if there's a little bug that floats in.. no problem. The staff want to ensure we have a good time, very attentive and helpful. The bar drinks are cheaper here than inside the hotel bar, and honestly we loved the drinks. Fruity, fun what else could you ask for? You can bring outside drinks. Kids are welcomed to this event, they have an opportunity for kids to come up to the stage as well as adult interactions. I don't recommend young young kiddos, only those who have strong interests in dancing, and sitting for long periods of time. They have little goodie bags for kids for activities and they get a few pineapple souvenir cup. (There's no longer a kid corner as the previous year) Another addition they have added is more dancers spaced around the seating area, which is nice but I personally feel it takes away from the main stage. Perhaps as suggestive is to have dancers there as entertainment before the show starts as folks find thier seats. The food! I can tell they are going back and forth between self serve and folks serving the food. This year, self serve, all you can eat. Take your pick of food, we were very satisfied with the selection of food and desserts are plentiful in options and coffee/tea/ water also served. The presentation of the Kahlua pig is exciting and let's you know the show is starting. There are public announcements for anniversaries, birthdays and just because. The show is different every year with great audience interaction and good vibes sent out. Still standing by my highly recommended review and we will continue our tradition to attend. Some other changes changesprices have increased Dates have changed to less availability so book when you can. There's signs in the hotel, walk past the beautiful water fall koi pond, pass the seating straight out and you'll see photo opps, and the bay area. Note there's is only one bathroom and its a bit of a walk, passed the shop and coffee shop down the hall way. Parking is valet or self parking. We did have to pay with validation this time around. The arm was not up. Security is more this year which was comforting but also nerve-wracking. All in all its a great experience to have fun together as a family or couple. Its a fun show and food was great. Good luck yelpers! Best vibes! Aloha!!

As if it was fate, I read an article by San Diego magazine that mentioned the Red Spade Theater. I had never heard of it before, but with an affordable ticket price, I thought why not? I pre-ordered the tickets online and we enjoyed the most magical evening with Sebastian! There is plenty of parking in the area and it's easy to access. The theater is so small and intimate. There were maybe 20 people in the audience with us and everyone had a chance to participate in the show. Now, I'm kind of a skeptic. I was trying to pay attention to all the different spots on the stage. When he'd tell us to look at the cards, I'd look at his hands or the table, but he wasn't giving anything away. After seeing Sebastian, I have to believe that magic is real. I swear things just disappeared right in front of my eyes. It was an incredible show. This is truly one of the best possible date nights in San Diego. This show was incredible and Sebastian is so talented. I'm in awe!

Our evening started at the small wine bar next door. It is a cute bar with friendly owners. There, we got a couple glasses of wine to start off the night, when the magician came in to start a few tricks at our table. He made his way around to all of the couples in the bar. We then brought our wine into the small theater. it looked like there was room for about 30 people, but our show had only 8 people. We filled the front row. The show was very crowd interactive, and I found myself on stage immediately. I realized that the magician had been interviewing people in the bar in order to be able to talk about them in the show. With an audience of 8, we were definitely able to participate quite a bit. It was mostly card and slight of hand. I appreciate how close up everything was, and thought he did a really good job. All in all, it was a fun show, and an interesting way to spend an evening. Perhaps I'll return after a while and enjoy the show again sometime. At $32, you can't beat the price. It made for a fun date night.
