    Old Town Theater

Not a bad seat in the house. This is the kind of theater that is always great to go to and see a play. Their schedule is diverse and interesting. They have plays for every age from musicals to comedies to drama. Before we moved to San Diego 3 years ago, we tried out a production. We loved it so much that joining the Cygnet was the first thing that we did after the move. There is a beautiful patio to sit and have a drink or snack before the show. The staff couldn't be nicer. They were caring and kind during a time when we were healing from the pandemic. A great place to get some culture and have a nice time.

This theater is a treasure. It's quaint and older yet has very comfortable seats and the stage design was beautiful. They serve and let you take your drink inside. We saw Cabaret and it was a top notch performance. A memorable evening, thank you!

1st time attending and all of the Yelp reviews were right. There is not a bad seat in the house. I went with the 2nd tier priced seats and they were great. If you decide you want to have a yearly membership, they will apply the price of your tickets towards the membership. Snacks and drinks are available if you want to buy them, both inside and outside the playhouse. There is a restroom inside and there is a private parking lot and that makes it easy. Will call is open about 30 minutes before the play starts and they open the lobby about 20 minutes before the play as well. Shopping is conveniently located steps away from the playhouse. You can check on Groupon and http://www.sdartstix.com/ for discounted tickets, they make it easy to donate as well.

Christmas carolling outside the Theatre ....puts me in Christmas Spirit!

Today at the Cygnet we saw a performance of a live "radio" presentation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol. It was so much fun! The idea is that the actors are putting on a radio show at Christmas in 1944 and the audience is part of the "live studio audience." Outside the theater were some wonderful people in period clothing, like 1800s, singing Christmas Carols. Really put Signora and I in the Christmas spirit! We paid $45 for each ticket, which was a little much but some of it, I figure, is a contribution to a small theater that must cost a fortune to keep running. The crowd was really into it which made it even more fun.

Love this quaint venue. Saw Rock of Ages, thought it was great. Had me singing and smiling and gave them a standing ovation.

San Diego is our second home, so we try to visit at least once a year. Since Old Town is one of my…read morefavourite areas around town, I was pretty stoked to book our Friday, January 31, through Sunday, February 9, 2025 stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Diego Old Town. We stayed in Rooms 245 and 253 - read on. Below are the pros and cons of the experience: PROS: * On January 22, 2025, for redemption of a Premier Plus Free Night Award up to 35,000 points + 262,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, I reserved a Guest room with 1 King bed for 9 nights - no out of pocket expense, YAY! * After seeing the room rate per night lower, on January 30, I was able to cancel the redemption of 262,000 Marriott Bonvoy points and rebook the same reservation for a total of 254,000 points + the Premier Plus Free Night Award up to 35,000 points. I saved 8,000 points, double YAY!! * Aleandro checked us in. He was informative and friendly. The hotel was pretty booked that night, so we were assigned to Room 245, but he told us that we could call in the morning to move to another room once one freed up the next day. * We called the following day and Chris at the Front Desk was extremely helpful in getting us a new room. She even went to Room 245 to deliver to us the keys for Room 253. * Microwave, mini fridge, and coffee station in the rooms * All day complimentary iced water, coffee and tea available in the lobby * Onsite market in the lobby * We did not pay for the $30/night parking in the underground garage, but were able to find free street parking around the hotel. * Daily Free Buffet and Continental and Hot Breakfast * Very nice-looking property with fully functioning fountains and beautifully landscaped spacious courtyard * Front Desk team members Richard and Aleandro were super hospitable and amiable. We enjoyed conversations with them. * They are pet friendly, triple YAY! * On-site exercise room * Welcoming lobby with functional fireplace * Complimentary Wi-Fi * Outdoor Pool and Hot Tub * Location - I LOVE Old Town!! CONS: * Our first room, Room 245, was disappointingly run down and needed better attention from housekeeping; the ceiling squares at the entryway, between the closet and bathroom, were clearly old and needed to be replaced, the bathroom door and trim were also in bad shape, the bathtub was not thoroughly cleaned, etc. * Our second room, Room 253, was a major improvement, but I still gotta say - housekeeping didn't THOROUGHLY clean the toilets. * Room 253's walls were THIN; I could hear the neighbours talking, laundry spinning from the laundromat, and there was a constant banging from movement downstairs. * No safe in the rooms. Overall, I was very happy with our stay - awesome location, the property was wonderfully nice and well kept, our rooms were comfortable, and the front desk associates were remarkably affable. I would most definitely choose to stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Diego Old Town again, especially since they are a pet-friendly hotel (We like to bring our doggies with us wherever we go). They are currently one of our favourite places to stay in San Diego. I hope to return soon.

We asked upon the move if they could put the pack and play in the new room. (1) We let them know that we would not be around for the entire day, so they were welcome to put in any time, as long as it was before the time we got back, which we figured would be around 7ish. (2) Got back to the hotel man who helped us bring up our things said he would bring it right away when we saw the pack and play wasn't in the room. (3) The guy never came so we Called down and they said sure, they would have someone bring it up. We told them we were leaving again, so if they could put it in the room, they said yes. (4) We got back the second time and it wasn't in there, so we went down to the office and asked them for a 4th time and they said yeah they would bring it up right away. We left again and said we would be back around 10 so they could put it in there any time before then. They assured us it'd be in there when we got back. It wasn't. (5) We called down and they said sure thing, someone would bring it up. We waited and waited and no one showed up. (6) Husband had to go down there and physically wait while they brought it out and handed it to him. I don't think it should take 6 times to get a pack and play. They were doing renovations and that didn't bother us at all. It's nice on the outside and they do have a laundry facility which is nice when you have a 2 month old. Also, had 2 soap dispensers and 1 conditioner in the bathroom. No shampoo. Won't return to this hotel in the future.

This time around, it was just the 3 of us, to chat over some wine and apps. Had their April featured Pinot, which was amazing (had 2 glasses). It's good to keep in mind that they only sell their flatbreads on certain days and unfortunately, they didn't serve it when we went. So, instead we had the crostinis, which is perfect if you want a little bit of everything, but not sure what to get. My friend got the chicken Caesar wrap, and it was a lot bigger than expected. As far as the ambience, there's seating all around the bar that's located in the middle. So it's convenient to just walk up to the bar to place your order. Servers and bartenders were friendly and quick. Overall this is a great laid-back place for small or large groups.
