I was brought on as an independent contractor to assist with running Alliance's roofing division and sales team. Approximately seven weeks later, the relationship was terminated. My issue is not that the business relationship ended. My concern is how it was handled, closed out, and what has occurred afterward. When the relationship ended, I promptly returned all company property in my possession, including a company truck, gas card, DJI drone, iPhone Pro Max, laptop, and Sony camera. These were valuable company assets, and I returned everything promptly and professionally. Unfortunately, I do not believe the same level of professionalism has been extended to me. My personal belongings, including my speaker, microphone, and house keys, remain in Alliance's possession. I previously attempted to retrieve them in person and was not permitted to obtain them. Alliance has since confirmed in writing that it possesses the property but has refused my request to mail or ship it. There is also an outstanding invoice from my company, Top Crew Labor Solutions. The invoice is for the same amount and same services that Alliance previously paid on more than five occasions under our working arrangement. Approximately 21 days after submission, it remains unresolved. Alliance has now stated in writing that it is "reviewing" the agreements, communications, work authorizations, terms, and other arrangements before determining what amount is due. I have repeatedly asked a simple question: Does Alliance dispute the invoice? If so, what amount and why? If not, when will payment be released? As of this review, I have not received a definitive answer identifying a disputed amount or providing a specific payment date. I also believe prospective employees and contractors should be aware of my experience with individuals part of the organization. I experienced disrespectful situations involving Beth, the company secretary, and Justin, a foreman, they disrespect you in front of others that instead of handling matters privately. I personally found many interactions disrespectful and inconsistent with the professionalism I expected. Beware. I made repeated attempts through email and text to resolve these issues directly and have retained documentation regarding the property returned, prior invoices and payments, the outstanding invoice, my attempt to retrieve my belongings, and our written communications. At this point, I believe accountability is appropriate. Anyone considering doing business with Alliance, subcontracting for them, or accepting a position with the company should be aware of my experience and consider it when making their own decision. This review is not about being terminated. It is about professionalism and accountability. I returned Alliance's property immediately and in good faith, and I believe it is reasonable to expect the same professionalism regarding my property and outstanding business matters.
