After moving to Shropshire in 2008 and having been
involved in martial artsi for over 30 years it seemed natural for me to join a
martial arts dojo. After failing to settle down at a new dojo in the area I
decided on some private sessions with Inphun@. In truth my initial expectations
were more of the normal martial arts training but in a private capacity. Wow, what
a surprise when I discovered an actual journey with an actual art -fighting
without fighting. An analogy for
this term would be when you drive a car you do not think about it but you are
aware of everything around you and everything is done without thinking and automatically.
The fighting
without fighting enables me, in a violent altercation, to deal with the
situation in a calm, functional, without thinking, ruthlessly simple and
destructive manner to nullify the situation. In truth this is what we all
aspire to do in a confrontation. My private sessions have been fun but serious
with NO more pounding of pads or hundreds of push-ups and/or sit-ups or fixed kata
moves but practical studies of various arts from around the world (e.g.
Phillipino, Brazilian, Chinese, Japanese, Russian to name a few) that are
simple, practical and functional. The evolving progressive en~trainment studies
are done in slow primal movement which is more difficult than you think but
allows you to become completely at ease with them and yourself. As well as my
private sessions there is an optional once a month get-together with other
students in a group session where a fantastic inter-action takes place with people
who are on the same journey. In reflection my eyes have been completely opened,
are totally at ease with myself and would suggest that anyone who wants to
partake of this feast then you will not be disappointed in any way. John Mattison Clun Shropshire read more
