The coffee here was delicious; cups are running $4 - $5. They offer specialty espresso shots, hot chocolate, smoothies, sodas, and more ranging $4.50 - $7+. They do have other items for sale such as Folkmanis Puppets, decorative gift bags, a selection of greeting cards, unique journal books, and a variety of items related to creative writing. The store also supports local artists by displaying their artwork throughout the store along with the price list. There were several spots throughout the bookstore where you can sit back and enjoy your beverage or snack with a book, which made for a cozy welcoming vibe. Staff were super friendly and inviting. The store is well organized and it is fairly easy to find what you are looking for. If you need a quick reference point on where to start be sure to ask the staff for help. This was a wonderful spot to spend a few hours. First off it's pretty large with a very diverse selection of books. They also have a solid selection of vinyl and CDs. The entire store is modestly priced and well organized. Finally, the cafe is putting out solid beverages and snacks. I had a delightful chai latte and ginger cookie and couldn't have been happier. Great book store and record/music shop. The place is front to back floor to ceiling books and other media. Nothing flashy just loads of books and little nooks and crannies where you can sit and check out some pages. They also have a cafe in the back, a wall of dogs and vinyl. A wonderful stop on our trip in Saugerties. The bookstore is well stocked and has a lot of interesting books. I love the signage and messaging of the store. I didn't get a chance to get a book as it was raining out and we were walking around that day so I opted to not risk buying and ruining a book. It is located in a busy intersection and you have to pay for street parking. The parking meter is one of the ones that only accepts coins and not one of the ones you can pay using an app. We didn't realize it was quarters only at first so we did lose some miscellaneous coins to the machine. Luckily we had cash on us and the bookstore staff graciously gave us some quarters in exchange for a $1 bill. As it was a little cooler due to the rain, I did order a hot chocolate from the cafe inside. The staff both runs the cafe and the bookstore so it did take some time to order. I would have to say the hot chocolate was terrible. I could not even finish it. It was basically just water with a hint of chocolate. I would not recommend that but I'm not sure if any of the other drinks are good. read more

Service? There is none. Selection? Barely worth mentioning. What stands out most is the narrow, one-sided perspective this place promotes. When a business leans into a single viewpoint and centers its identity around exclusion or hostility toward others, that's a serious problem. Very disappointing experience overall. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Always such a cozy atmosphere. Chess available, tables available, cozy chairs to sink into with a good book and a coffee. The cafe portion is so good too and the service is quick and friendly. There are always events being hosted here also! Great value great location great place to study or meet with a friend. Anyway, for you oddballs that are not already sold on Inquiring Minds based on the DHoF, you can rest assured that they have an absolutely massive selection of books on anything you could ever want to read about. Philosophy, cooking, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, history, music...the store itself is gigantic, and the shelves are everywhere. Explore, and you won't regret it. They can also order you any book you may like, and then you're supporting a local shop, as opposed to a massive conglomerate that benefits no one but a man who wants to send phallic-shaped things into space. Or something. Delicious iced coffee (I'm a pretty bland person but did "venture out" for an earl grey iced tea and that was also good but they have a huge assortment of beverage options for the more adventurous). They have a fantastic array of books on every topic imaginable and fantastic prices for the finds. I always come away with 1 ...or 20...new finds that are quickly devoured. read more

Inquiring Minds is not a true description, because minds should be inquiring about both sides of an issue. That is not the case here. Indoctrinating Minds is a better description. Unlike others that have posted 1-star reviews, I have been inside the store. It is a beautiful space. But it was distressing to learn that there very little for an inquiring mind like my own. They have excellent matcha, a wonderful selection of used and new books, plenty of periodicals and flyers and announcements of local happenings on the tables, and good seating and plugs so you can enjoy your drink and work on your laptop as long as you feel like it. Love this quaint bookstore and the excellent coffee shop in the back. I can sit here for hours and whenever I'm in the area it's a MUST stop for me! I lived in the area for a year and a half and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see all the beautiful places to enjoy in the area.
