During the repipe, multiple mistakes were made. One pipe was left improperly connected and burst, shooting water into our garage. Another cold water line for our master shower was never connected at all, even after the walls and floors had already been closed up. We later had to hire another plumber to cut back into our floors to correct the issue, along with paying for additional drywall repairs.
He also remodeled our kids' bathroom, and within days we started noticing water stains leaking into our downstairs kitchen ceiling whenever anyone showered. Instead of taking accountability, he repeatedly blamed the issue on our AC drain line and insisted it needed to be rerouted. We had two separate AC companies inspect everything, and both confirmed there were no major AC issues other than a kinked hose that HE had installed himself, which caused a backup in the attic. I ended up replacing the hose myself.
The actual source of the leaks was poor workmanship in the bathroom remodel. The shower handle was installed upside down, and the overflow drain plate was installed incorrectly, allowing water to pour directly into our kitchen ceiling during showers.
What made the experience even more frustrating was the constant excuses, blame shifting, and gaslighting whenever mistakes were brought up. We were extremely patient and gracious throughout the process, even giving multiple opportunities to correct issues, but every concern was met with another excuse instead of accountability.
We also believe his attitude toward us changed after we did not accept his $5,000 drywall repair estimate. He seemed to take it personally. We had only asked him to provide a quote for the drywall work, but he appeared to assume he already had the job. One day he showed up with sheets of drywall and started patching walls without ever even providing us with an estimate or getting approval to proceed. After he finally quoted us $5,000, we decided to get additional estimates and found another highly recommended contractor who quoted us around $2,000. The only difference was that painting was not included, and for a $3,000 price difference we were perfectly willing to handle the painting ourselves.
While he was still in the middle of working on our master bathroom, he approached us saying he needed to "go over numbers." Even after knowing there would be a major price change coming, he continued working for two more days while we waited to sit down and discuss the updated pricing. When we finally had that conversation, we were informed the estimate had essentially doubled from the original amount. At that point he still expected payment for demo and partial work despite the growing list of plumbing mistakes, water damage, and repair costs we were already dealing with.
The final straw was discovering continued leaks and water damage right as we were deciding to move forward with a different company. After the insults, excuses, mounting repair costs, and lack of accountability, we decided it was best to cut our losses and part ways.
We are now left paying even more money for drywall repair, plumbing corrections, floor access repairs, and damage caused by work that should have been done correctly the first time. I strongly recommend getting multiple inspections and being very cautious before hiring this company.
