I like that it's open late - yesterday was national cookie day and they had a special promo of one free cookie and 1.00 deluxe cookie... but I didn't see it til 10pm! We were still able to get 2 cookies each at 1030 at night. Great midnight snack! My fav is the walnut choco chip. I'm a big small business supporter but I gotta say this is one of the best choco chips I have had, even though it's a chain and I feel a little had about it. The cookies tasted good but be prepared to pay $5/cookie. We also got some icecream and it was good. The scoops were tiny so three scoops might be equivalent to a big scoop at most places. Service was not the best. No greeting when we walked in and our order was wrong. Didn't notice it right away and when we did we asked if we could get the correct brownie she seemed annoyed. Luckily I had the receipt since I felt she was doubting me. She had to call the manager and the manager approved it. I tried making a loyalty account but there was an error message. This was an extremely odd experience, the service was absolutely horrid. Both employees working were completely mute and looked at us like we were crazy when we asked a question about if a cookie was in stock still, with no response like we were invisible. it was almost like they were on drugs it was extremely bizarre. They just stared at us blankly, and to top it all off the girl working the register and serving us sneezed on her sleeve then proceeded to wipe it with her hands and say "ew" and then went right back to working and touching things and food with the snot she just wiped on her shirt sleeve and hands. Extremely weird experience and honestly disturbing to think about what happens to other customers food being handled there as well. Just came here twice and one time the cashier was competent and friendly, the second time the cashier was unpleasant and not listening to me. I splurge on their dozen of gluten free chocolate chip cookies every once in a while. I could eat a dozen of those in one day but I don't. They taste like regular delicious homemade cookies and that's why I love them so much. Perfect warm and even cold they are scrumptious. Chewy and gooey from the inside as if you just popped them out the oven. Highly recommend you indulge in this place when you are craving cookies but don't want to make them yourself. The ice cream is really good here too. Service is good but if you are getting gluten free be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes because sometimes they run out of those before anything or they have to make a whole box for you which is fine. Can't sleep? Go get a cookie!!! Hot fresh cookies for late night cravings (or actually anytime of the day for that matter!) There were 3 plant based options and a dozen traditional cookie flavors. These cookies were delicious! And a nice size. Grabbed a chocolate chunk and a birthday cake. Both cookies were crunchy. Total came to $4.xx The chocolate chunk was the best one. Crunchy on the outside soft in the middle. Very similar to a tollhouse cookie. Couldn't even tell it was vegan! They offer ice cream, brownies, and bottled drinks. (No vegan or plant based ice cream or brownies) Can customize cookie sandwiches with ice cream or icing. So many box and bucket packages to choose from or can buy a single cookie. Customer service was nice. Shop was extremely small. Only room to fit 4 customers comfortably. And there is only one door to come in and go out. No seating space. That's too bad cuz it would have been awesome to have a sit down spot and enjoy cookies and coffee in a comfy cafe. This shop was more a take out shop. I recommend Insomnia Cookie! I think they're a perfect dessert spot in the Court Ave district. Grab dinner around and walk over to Insomnia Cookie. read more

After five hours in the car, we pulled into Des Moines around 9pm. All of us had a sugar tooth kick and found this place to be the only place in town that was open. Glad they were, this place is terrific. I sandwiched peanut butter cookies around Caramellionaire ice cream, which was to die for. Sweet tooth satisfied. The cookies are good. They have my favorite cookie combinations and it's hard to resist the cookie butter. They're not the same quality as the one on campus town in Ames but they're alright. My tip before visiting is to visit during the late afternoon when they're open, but definitely not before the late evening. And visiting on a week night is definitely better than going on the weekend. Their service is below average. This is just their training's fault, so it can be a hit or miss. Their set up is definitely cramped. It can feel crowded with a group of 10 people. And their online setup isn't super reliable. So really just try going on a weeknight when they're open. read more

I ordered cookies and ice cream to be delivered to friend who was in the hospital directly from the Insomnia website. Told them the patient's name and room to deliver the order to. I received a text with picture of the package sitting on what looked like a nurse's station, and I thought ok, they are on the floor of the patient and they asked someone at the desk to take them into the room. I texted my friend to see if they received it and no they hadn't. I sent her the picture I received and it wasn't the floor's nurse's station. From the photo, the patient's wife then had to walk all over the hospital looking for this order that was just dropped off inside the door with no instructions to take it up to the room, no phone call to tell someone where it was left, etc. Obviously, by the time she FOUND it, the cookies were cold and ice cream melted. I called Insomnia store from where order was placed and they apologized and said they would refund my money and that it could take 3-4 days. Called after a week and told them the money was not deposited back to my account and they said they couldn't refund because I ordered thru a third party -- Grubhub because they delivered it. Called Grubhub and they can't refund money because it had been over 48 hours and the store didn't contact them to refund it. Keep in mind, I never contacted Grubhub, your store did! This is on you. I have never seen such awful customer service in my life -- will never order from you again, and hopefully those reading this never will either! read more

If you're wanting a warm and crunchy cookie then insomnia Cookies would be a good choice for you! I absolutely enjoy getting their deluxe cookies because of how gooey and crisp they can be. I got the s'mores cookie and the marshmallow to chocolate ratio was perfect. I also got their 6-pack classic cookies and those were great too! However, presentation-wise they were a little bit on the wonky side. So if you're someone who is picky about how your food looks, you may expect some weird looking cookies. Going into the shop was interesting... it's a bit small so you'll be crammed when other people come in, order, then wait. Whenever I mention insomnia cookies, my colleagues often mention how strange the customer service is with how day and night (literally) people can be to their customers. However in my case, I haven't met that encounter, yet. The person taking my order was cheerful thankfully. Overall the pricing of the cookies is much better than another cookie place I have in mind, and very much worth it. read more

You're going to want to eat these! Kept seeing the ads on FB and wanted to try. I'm dairy free so finding a non dairy baked good that I didn't make is a plus! They also have GF. Super simple ordering process. We picked up in store which was small but super cute, friendly staff and our order was ready right on time. These cookies are a little crunchy but not hard and yet still chewy in the center. We got a sampling of many flavors. My kids couldn't pick a favorite. Do not order from Insomnia Cookie Des Moines. They didn't deliver our order until some 2 hours later and the 6 deluxe cookies were ice cold. For such a hefty price, you expect some degree of high quality- be it in the customer service, product quality, or promptness in delivery. Staff was unhelpful and rather rude- I heard them laughing when talking amongst themselves that I was complaining.
