They were looking for a client of mine, who never has had my girl's cell phone or mine. Apparently this client defaulted on a student loan. I called and basically asked how the hell they got my cell phone number and of course they gave me some scripted bullshit about using skip tracing techniques, etc. I immediately reported them to the California Attorney General but I doubt that it will do any good. I encourage everyone who is called by these bottom feeders to tell them to remove your name and number from their files and tell them absolutely nothing. This company is a subsidiary of SallieMae and the idea that they call up anyone who MIGHT BE associated with their debtor is reprehensible and morally opprobrious.
